Flash Point, by JL Crosswhite, is the second book in the Hometown Heroes series. With a great mix of mystery, suspense, action, faith, and romance, this contemporary fiction novel is truly thrilling to read.
Descriptive and real, the Southern California setting is relevant and contributes to the authentic feel of the story. But it is the development of the characters throughout the novel that makes this book shine. The characters are relatable, they are likable, and they make the story sparkle with warmth. The engrossing plot of the novel is well-paced and thoroughly engaging wrapping the reader in the thoughts, feelings, and motivations of the characters themselves. Like the blue flames of a driftwood fire, the themes of adversity, faith, perseverance, redemption, and romance dance together to illuminate a relatable story that uplifts while it also entertains.
Flash Point offers more than a mere spark of romance and suspense. It also shines with an emphasis on forgiveness, grace, and perseverance. As the characters grapple with difficult events, they also search for wholeness, purpose, and meaning within their choices and dreams. Their faith and trust grows stronger as they discover that true security is found in the promises of God and in the love and support of friends and family.
With its endearing characters and intriguing plot, Flash Point easily captured my attention from the first chapter to the last. JL Crosswhite is a talented author with a true gift for compelling story-telling. Flash Point is a book I can easily recommend to all readers who enjoy clean, suspenseful romantic fiction.

I’m a fan!
Flash Point is the second installment from the Hometown Heroes series by JL Crosswhite. I have enjoyed the previous books in this series and this one does not disappoint. This one is my favorite to date. The mystery and suspense that surrounds Joe and Sarah kept me fascinated and not want to put it down until I was finished in one sitting.
Flash Point gets five plus stars from me. I am hoping there will be more in the Hometown Heroes series in the future.
I received this book from the publisher, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Flash Point
While reading this book I kept thinking it would make a great movie. Lot of drama, suspense and wonderful characters.
Joe was my favorite character. He is an firefighter and will go to any length to save someone from a fire. He recused a dog who became a great comfort to Sarah. She cares for the dog while Joe is working long hours at the fire station. Having a dog in a book always adds so much to the story.
This is part of a series that can be read as a stand alone. I will be reading the other books to find out more about the other characters. I do recommend this book.
I received an complementary copy of the book. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
What a ride! Flash Point is well written, suspenseful, and romantic. It grabs you at the first page and doesn’t let up. Fire Captain Joe Romero and architect Sarah Brockman are very likable characters. I love the camaraderie of the guys at the fire station, how they really do have each other’s backs. The plot has twists and turns and moves quickly. The setting is Orange County, California. I highly recommend this romantic suspense. (I even bought a copy for my mom.)
