He swore to protect her body, but he never promised to protect her heart.”Katherine Shaw.Rich girl? Check.Spoiled and obstinate? Check.A sexy fireball who pushes every button ex-SEAL Jason Garrett has? That was not listed on the dossier he receives when he’s assigned as one of her bodyguards. The last thing he ever expected was that his tempting client would prove to be more sinful and dangerous … prove to be more sinful and dangerous than those he’s protecting her from.
It’s been five years since a family tragedy tilted her world off its axis, and Katherine Shaw still relives the nightmares of that night.
She escaped.
The danger should’ve been over.
She couldn’t have been more wrong.
When her father, a prominent Justice, receives a chilling death threat, her past comes hurtling into her present, along with Jason, the unshakeable protector her body can’t seem to ignore.
Their attraction would be forbidden even under the best circumstances. But as the threat draws near, the tension between the two of them rises, culminating in an explosive flash point that will blindside them both.
Flash Point is a standalone romantic suspense novel.

I read A Desperate Man Series By Brooke Blaine & Ella Frank so when she contacted us about her first solo novel, I just had to have it. I love a good suspense novel and then add in a strong and silent type hottie with a flirty and sassy blonde then I want it now!
Judge Shaw could not believe this was happening again. Five years ago his wife was murdered but his daughter, Katherine made it out alive. And now, it seems that someone was after Katherine once again and he is determined to protect her even if it has to be on her terms.
Katherine was back in college after taking a year off and now is summoned to her father’s house. She hates to be there. The memories are too much. So when he insisted that she stay there during the threats on her life, she refuses. She needs to continue her life by going to classes. When she meets the the men that will be her bodyguards, she feels a pull towards the strong and silent one named Jason Garrett.
Jason is very serious about his job and protecting a spoiled, rich, daddy’s girl is not his favorite part of it but he will not let anyone near her. And after getting to know her better, it doesn’t even want anyone to look at her. She has a way of breaking down his wall and she is very unexpected to him. He finds her to be very smart, funny, strong, observant and sexy as hell. He fights her at every turn because he can see that she wants more to their relationship and she is not afraid to fight dirty…she wants him and wants him bad. But Jason, can not be distracted. He has to protect Katherine not fall for her. Can he do both?
Now, for the suspense other then getting down and dirty. Who the hell is after Katherine? Is it the same person that murdered her mother or is it a new enemy of her father’s? Is he only going after Katherine? Shit…I love solving a mystery and Brooke got me hooked!
I loved Jason and Katherine’s story. Their relationship as bodyguard and client was all about the banter, flirting and trust. There wasn’t just suspense with the who-dun it but also with their sexual tension.
Overall…it was suspenseful, sexy, funny and mysterious. I can’t wait for Brooke’s next novel.
Quotes:
“Do you really want me to answer that?” he asked.
“No, what I want right about now is a chainsaw to free myself and then stick up your ass.” He shoved the phone back in his pocket.
“Sounds like foreplay.”
She doesn’t take my threats seriously. She really should. They won’t be just threats for much longer.
She gaped at him. “I know I did not just hear the impenetrable, humorless Jason Garrett tell me I need to eat more sausage.”
“I think you’d be more pleasant with a sausage in your mouth, yes.”
This is my favorite book by Brooke. How is this not rated higher on here! My review from the release of the book is below…
I’ve been following Brooke since we did the book tours for her co-authored A Desperate Man series books with Ella Frank. When she emailed us and asked us to do the tour for her first book she wrote herself I agreed. I wanted to see how she did on her own.
I loved it.
I read this in one sitting and it kept my attention the whole time. It got H.O.T. at times, it was funny in others and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I have so many highlighted quotes I want to post but I think they would be better off if you read them while you were reading.
Katherine was funny. I usually have problems with some aspect of the lead female when they are her age but with Katherine I did not. Maybe it’s fact that she had to grow up quickly after what happened to her. I’m not sure. Either way she was refreshing and a nice change from the norm with college girls.
Jason. What can I say about him. Hot. He was the perfect blend between silent mysterious type and funny sexy smart ass. I loved him.
Flash Point will be on my Top Ten of 2015 list. I loved this book. I can’t wait to see what Brooke does next and I look forward to following her career.
f you’re looking for a fun, suspenseful read, with sexual tension that’s just dripping off the pages, look no further than Flash Point! With a feisty, sassy heroine, an unflappable, delectable hero, witty dialogue and a plot that will have your head spinning, Flash Point had me hanging on until the very last page.
And it left me wanting more, oh did it leave me wanting more. I feel so invested in these characters- Katherine and Jason really came alive in this book, you could feel their every emotion. From Katherine’s sadness about her mother, her frustration and sorrow when it came to her father, and her yearning for more from Jason. To Jason and the struggle he faces when it comes to his desire for Katherine warring with his dedication to his job.
Flash Point is full of mystery and intrigue, with twists and turns that will leave you guessing from one page to the next. I was sad to see it come to an end, and hope maybe one day we’ll get to see a little more from Jason and Katherine!
