To say I’m having a rough century would be a vast understatement.
I’m on the run, plagued by visions of death, and forced to rely on the man who killed my husband. Yeah, my life is just peachy. But when the truth shakes out, I find that maybe Rhys didn’t ruin my life those many years ago. Maybe he saved it.
Now, it’s my turn to save us both.
I grabbed this book to while away a bit of time and relax, and ended up turning page after page, not wanting to put it down. A take-no-prisoners heroine and a romance you can cheer for. How can you put that down?
Great paranormal reading!
This was a really good book and I hope to read more. There are times when it almost broke my heart but then MC would say something funny. Great characters.
Good world building.
I loved the world building and the story in this one.
The heroine Aurelia was fierce! I was impressed. This was my first time reading about Phoenixes and Wraiths. I got a bit scared when I saw the glossary at the beginning of the book. I can very easily get lost with fantasy books. However, Scattered Ashes was written in a way that was very easy for me to follow and understand.
I enjoyed the hero’s sense of need to protect Aurelia even though it wasn’t always necessary. I look forward to continuing this series.

Let me start off by stating this review is for the re-edited version and not the original text. I did not read the original version.
I immensely enjoyed this book! It’s a compact story that reimagines phoenixes and wraiths. Only in this case the phoenixes are the not so good guys that Aurelia is on the run from. The kicker is she’s one of them.
I love the double point of view you get in this book from both Aurelia and Rhys. The heroine is sassy and snarky without trotting into ungrateful b*tchy territory. Rhys is the perfect sweet compliment to Aurelia’s spice.
Speaking of spice… what a whirlwind of a romance! If you’re looking for heavy spice you won’t find it here, but there are a few delectable spicy yet modest sexy scenes. The romance does snap a 180 rather quickly but I’ll take that over wading through 3 novels for the love interests to finally come together!
There’s great world building and character development per usual of Annie. The supporting characters are well defined so no part of the book falls flat or feels lacking. If you read the Rogue Ethereal series you’ll see a few familiar names pop up! I love getting to know their background stories a little better. 10/10 recommend this book. It’s a quick read but you won’t to put it down. I’m excited to see how the story continues!
This was a good read that kept me entertained. I look forward to seeing where the author takes this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I think that this story of Aurelia and Rhys is good. I love stories that start with a Phoenix as it is a favorite fantasy character, I love the thought of rising from the ashes. There is not one thing that I disliked about this story, felt a little sympathy for Rhys, buy I Loved this story!!! I do not do spoilers, so read it!

I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down.
This is the first book in the Phoenix Rising series and although it was a bit slow at times once it got going it was a good read. An interesting storyline with strong characters and twists that kept me turning the pages leave me curious about the rest of the series.
Book one in the Phoenix Rising series a story that held my interest until the end. Aurelia Constantine and Rhys Stevens’ story of suspense, drama, danger, murder, paranormal aspects, romance, and a surprise ending.
ONE BLAZING EXPERIENCE!!!

This book is just meh…. there are things that could be interesting and awesome but they don’t quite get there…
This is a wonderful book with strong characters. I have purchased the whole series and will continue reading book 2 in a bit.
