This book is totally awesome. No wasted words, no fluff, action, great characters dragons, witches and magic, a perfect recipe…
I’m listening to this book. The characters are so real and I like the way the different characters are developed in parallel. I listen to this while I commute and I hate to leave the car.
What a brilliant book and series. Sanna and Isadora, twins. Letum Wood where they live. Dragon Luteis who bonds with Sanna. Isadora who has the gift of sight. Fantastic book. About to read book two and can’t wait.
Sanna and Isadora are sisters living in Anguis in the northwest corner of Letum Wood.
Sanna, as a Servant of Drago, is responsible for the health and safety of dragon hatchlings. Her father, Daid, is also a Servant. Isadora paints the design on dragon eggshell teacups made by her Mam. She is courted by Jesse, her betrothed. At the Selectis, she refuses to be apprenticed to the dragon, Thyris, and tries to choose the wild dragon, Luteis. For that insubordination, she is exiled. She helps Luteis escape and blood-bonds to him. He adopts her, and flies her to the ancient home of the witches and dragons. She becomes a Dragonmaster.
Isadora goes through a painful transformation to become a Watcher. A powerful witch, Maximillion, moves her to Berry to meet with Pearl and attend Miss Sophia’s school. She has her first vision of Paths as a Watcher.
The sisters both pursue their very different paths, overcoming huge obstacles and challenges, and facing danger to themselves, their family and friends. They appear in The Network Series years later as mature, powerful witches.
This was an exciting, action-filled story. It was easy to get involved with the characters, feel the pain of their defeats and cheer their victories.
Fast read, already read the second book of the series. Can’t wait u til the third book comes out.

a bit shallow in the character area. An OK read, but not totally engaging (and I read 600-700 pages of fantasy in a week, so I have some experience).
Flames is a magical story about witches, dragons and Letum wood. Sanna and Isadora, two sisters with a future settle that may have to face many dangers and changes in order to bring free to their world. Sanna working with the Dragons and Isadora with witches. You won’t be able to put the book down until the end and then you will look forward to to the next part.
If you are a fan of Dragon’s and or Witches this will be your new fave book! Flame follows the story of two sisters who’s journey takes them on separate paths to ultimately meet again one day. It is an action packed magical story with wonderful characters that will have you binge reading until early morning hours. The Author’s world building is so descriptive you can see the story playing out in your mind as clearly as a movie on a screen. I could not put this book down and look forward to seeing where the author takes the story in the next book.
I was given the opportunity to receive arc copy from the author for honest review. I am going to be completely honest this was my first book with dragons in it. And to make it even better it had some witches which made this book very good. This story is about twin sisters Sanna and Isadora who live with thier family to serve the dragons. Where magic was not allowed between the sisters. Then one night it all changed for both of the sisters when it came to choosing a dragon to serve. The sisters may have been twins but their paths were different from each other. Sanna had a love of the dragons and cared about them so much. Isadora path was very different she wanted to learn more about magic. And this is where we meet the wild dragon and Max. This story between the two sisters and the jounary they take to save thier family is amazing. I felt like I was watching a movie instead of reading a book. The way Katie made me see these dragons and the witche’s that Isadora and Sanna had come across. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to continue when the next book comes out. And find out what Sanna and Isaora go up against next. I do recommened this book very enjoyed and sad. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. Thank you Katie Cross for this amazing read.
