Gabriel Starr is the love of my life, even if he breaks my heart time and time again.Like a fool, I keep going back, so I’ve made a promise to myself—one final night and then I’m done. One night of passion. No pressure. Most importantly, no future. One month later, a positive pregnancy test tells me different. Our only option is to raise this baby as friends, but how can we make it work when we … friends, but how can we make it work when we can’t even keep our hands off each other?
We finally have the chance to be the family we never imagined we could be.
But first, we need to focus on Fixing Us.

This is a tale of two souls destined to be together yet are toxic for one another at the same time. A second chance romance that has you wondering if Leigh and Gabe would get their happily ever after when the unexpected happened. I had a bit of a problem connecting with these characters and story at times so it was not as enjoyable overall for me. Not every story is going to be for everyone but I can see the possible vision and know that this will be someone else’s treasure.
Going into this book, I didn’t know this was part of a series. It worked out well because it can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed this book. It was a second chance love story with a surprise baby thrown in there! The book takes you on the emotional journey of Gabriel and Leigh Ann’s story. Gabriel had a tough go at life and it has caused him some reluctance as an adult. Leigh has had a supportive family and friends her whole life. I love how she never gave up on Gabe and she helped him see his worth.
Great story. Great writing. Great supporting characters. I loved the plot.
Fixing Us is the third book in Miranda Elaine’s The Fixing Series. The series began with Miranda’s debut book, Fixing Her, is the story of Temperance and Asher which was a 5 out of 5 propeller book. That book was followed by Fixing Him, the story of Montana and Sam which was also a 5 out of 5 propeller book. That’s a lot of pressure on a “newbie” author to come up with a third book that is the same caliber as the first two. Grab your beverage of choice (mine would be wine) and let’s chat about Miranda Elaine’s fixing us.
Fixing Us is the story of Leigh and Gabe. Theirs is a story of abuse, neglect, pain, regret, alcoholism, and love. A love is so strong that neither of them can walk away for long periods of time. Believe me, they have tried albeit unsuccessfully…for 12 (yes, I said 12) long and painful years. There is something there that keeps them going back time after time. Could it be that they are soul mates? Quite possibly.
Gabe is the product of a severely dysfunctional family which has left him believing that he will never be good enough for Leigh. He has spent the last 12 years drinking, getting sober, learning to tattoo, buying a tattoo shop, “big brother” to a kid in foster care, and watching over Leigh the only woman that he will ever love. Leigh’s heart was shattered by Gabe when he broke up with her after her high school graduation the one that he watched from a distance because he didn’t get to graduate. She didn’t care that he was a foster kid from the wrong side of the tracks. They were in love and had plans. Gabe freaked out once he realized that Leigh’s plans including building a family together which is he was determined not to have. He refuses to pass along any of his family’s genetic traits to another generation.
One night of unprotected passion changed everything. Can Gabe step up to be the man that Leigh and his baby need him to be? Can Leigh convince Gabe that he already is that man?
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! My rating for this book is a 5 out of 5 propellers! It is my favorite one in the series mainly because I love the flawed, beautifully broken Gabe. (To tell you how much I loved this book, I actually got pissed off when I had to stop reading to go to my son’s soccer game. Don’t give me that look! I admit that it was totally a bad mom moment. I went to the game but made my husband drive so that I could read it in the car but I did not read it during the game.) So far, every book in The Fixing Series has been 5 out of 5 propellers. I can’t wait to see what is next!
I can still feel the emotions running its course through me as I write this review. I love Miranda’s words and the story she brings to life. I have to say I love the heroine of this story. Leigh is a warrior and no matter how many times her heart shatters, she shows us strength. She shows the love she has in truly unbreakable.
Gabriel had me frustrated a time or several! Only because he was not only being unfair to Leigh, but most importantly himself. You can feel the anguish and turmoil through these pages. My heart cracked a little with this second chance love story.
With the unexpected bundle of joy, these two try to stay as friends. I honestly thought these two could never get to their HEA. Was I wrong? Make sure to grab this book and find out how it began and ends <3
