A Stand-Alone Romance

Montana is a young woman who has just inherited from her grandfather, a property in a privileged and elitist location. Living a careless and itinerant lifestyle with her family, her new reality is a sudden change in her life. Fresh out of college, she hopes to renovate the house during the summer, put it up for sale and make a good profit. And so, she and her pet pig leave for the new address for a few months.
Sam has a busy life. His day-to-day life is quite busy, splitting up between work, renovate his house and caring for his father. Relationships are not part of his vocabulary, with so many responsibilities, he can not afford to have to care about anyone else. Living all his life in a trailer park and watching his father work hard, Sam hopes to change his life, and because of that, work is his main focus. Until a young and very attractive blonde crosses his path.
Montana is renovating her property. Sam is responsible for the job. She is young, innocent and at the same time bold. He is older, responsible and has no time for a relationship. An instant attraction. An explosive chemistry. And a summer full of possibilities.
What begins as a no strings attached affair, over time, turns into a friendship / love that will change the two characters and make them see other perspectives, yearn for things they did not know they want and for a different future than they expected. Montana brings a fresh and laid back side to the narrative, while Sam presents the dramatic side, showing what he faces with his father. Kermie the pig was the comic relief of the narrative.
An interesting, well-constructed plot with credible characters, no over-drama, with a touch of humor, it shows two people with different personalities but who respect, understand
and complete each other. A good novel.
Fixing Him is the first book that I have read by this author. This may not be Miranda Elaine’s debut because this is her 2nd book. I would say that Miranda Elaine is off to a pretty good start.
I enjoyed reading Fixing Him! This was Montana Rachel Rhodes and Samuel Matthews story. Sam is a “contractor extraordinaire” and Montana has just finished up with nursing school. She is in town to fix up and sell her grand-fathers place that was left to her. Sam is doing the re-no on her grand-father’s place.
Fixing Him was an enjoyable story to read. Now I need to read Fixing Her which is Kade Asher’s story. I think you can enjoy reading this book as a standalone but, I do have questions that I think could be answered by reading Fixing Her.
5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
I loved Fixing Him by Miranda Elaine. It might be one of my favorite new stories this year. As bad as this will sound, I’m new to Miranda, but I have found a new author to love. Fixing Him is funny, witty, sexy, and just made my heart so happy. I’m not big on age gap stories, but this book was beautifully written and at times I forgot that there was a gap. Sometimes Sam acted younger than he was and sometimes Montana was far wiser than her age.
Montana is a free spirit. Some of that freedom has made her jaded to the world around her. I think that’s what I loved most about her. She saw the world through different eyes. She grew up traveling, never staying in one place to long. I loved that she had an idea of what the world was supposed to be, but wasn’t completely obtuse to what it really is. I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved her humor. She was everything and more when it came to that. And her love for Kermie was out out of this world. I couldn’t not stop laughing at her choice of pet.
Sam is jaded. He’s older. He knows the hurt in the world and doesn’t want to be any part of it. But Montana rocks is jaded soul like no other has. He wants things with her that he’s never wanted before, but at the same time is afraid to go after. To Sam, Montana is to young, to free, to sweet. In reality, it’s Montana that helps Sam to see what could really be.
These characters were everything. I don’t want to give anything away about this story, but I will say, I laughed, my heart broke, my heart was healed, and I felt so much joy from reading this book. Please check out Fixing Him. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Montana is in town for the summer to have her newly inherited home renovated for sale. She’s free-spirited, young and innocent with a voice that instantly calls to the hardest part of Sam’s heart. She’s just the type to complement Sam perfectly.
“The voice sounds like candy wrapped in rainbows.”
He’s her new contractor. He’s older. He’s sorta jaded. And he thinks she’s way too young for him. But what if they could just take the summer to have a passionate no-strings fling? Could Montana do it? And leave with her heart intact? What about Sam? Will Montana’s innocence and charm be too much for the walls around his heart to take?
I loved Fixing Him. It’s sweet, it’s sexy, and Sam and Montana and Kermie the piglet are perfect together! Although I liked the previous story in this series, Fixing Her, I found Fixing Him much more enjoyable. For one, Sam is a much better hero, much more positive and likable than Asher, the hero in Fixing Her. But mostly, I liked it much more because Sam and Montana are just so joyful to read as a couple. They fit each other so perfectly in their opposite personalities. And the secondary cast of her family and his dad? Superb! I am looking forward to much, much more from this author.
Fixing Him by Miranda Elaine is the second book in her standalone Fixing series. Told in dual POV between a sexy contractor with no time for love and a beautiful young woman just looking to find her place in the world. Well-written and well-paced with a little bit of angst, a whole lot of sexy and even more humor and good vibes. The growth of the characters from the beginning of the story through to the end is significant and heartwarming. This is my first time reading this author but it won’t be my last. I enjoyed every page of this book. Hope you do too! Enjoy!
Someone described this as a feel-good story. Perfect. Both of them are great characters. Together I love them and just knew they had to work it out. (One of those good things about a romance)
They fought the good fight. He did but with her decision, she was going to get past his defenses and into his…you get the idea. They had lived different lives. She’d known money although she’d lived a nomads life with her parents. He’d worked hard to make a good life and succeed. He determined she didn’t fit but she was tempting. Too young. Too city. Too hot to keep resisting.
Neither started out with plans for long term. Just the summer. He’d fix her house to sell and they’d enjoy each other. Problem number one for him, she wasn’t what he thought. She was young, yeah. She was also smart witty and too darn hot to resist.
It’s fun to watch him try to keep from falling. It is a riot to see how she plays him. They are both engaging characters who deserve each other in the best of ways.

Miranda knocked this one out of the park! I loved the first book in this series but Montana and Sam have won my heart.
Montana is a unique character who I fell for. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Sam is trying to be professional but Montana makes it hard.
Can they come to an agreement to just have a summer fling? Who will fall first?
This was a great read that I highly recommend. #KermieisAwesome
I absolutely loved Sam and Montana! Oh and Kermi too lol. There was so much chemistry between Sam and Montana, even though he tried to fight it. He had so much on his plate and didn’t think he could handle a relationship as well. This story was well written and I can’t wait for the next one.
*4-4,5 stars*
I really enjoyed this flirty romantic story and the way it was written. Definitely a must read that will leave you swooning, laughing and just give you a big smile 🙂
Montana is heading to the lakeside to get her house fixed up that she inherited from her grandfather. She’s planning to stay a couple of months and then try to sell it but the more the house comes together and being on the lake side, she falls deeper in love with the place and the surroundings. When she first meets Sam, there’s this undeniable chemistry between them but he feels she’s too young for him but the more time they spend together, the more he can’t seem to stay away. But when something bad happens, Montana will have to leave earlier than planned but will they be able to forget one another?… Will both finally get the happy ending they both thought they never be able to have?…
This is my first Miranda Elaine ARC… I signed-up because the blurb got me curious and excited.
I thought it was going to be one of those serious taboo-romance… but contrary to my initial assumption their age difference isn’t that huge… well to me at least.
In my opinion, I think a good 10yr gap is acceptable as long as you’re not in your teens anymore… And in reference to the female protagonist, Montana, she was already 22 and already had a nursing degree… so she is already capable of making any adult decisions.
This is a story about finding love in an unexpected place… Montana was bequeathed her grandfather’s lake house and had only planned to stay there until the summer ends or until the renovations were done. Cue in the handsome, slightly older and rugged contractor Sam; sparks fly like the Forth of July. Both tried to resist the other and neither of them does not want anything serious… the plan was strictly and vehemently for them to be each other’s summer fling—but lines started to blur and sometimes life just doesn’t go the way you planned…
Can’t say I haven’t read anything similar before but I enjoyed Montana’s and Sam’s journey nonetheless. The pacing was good, the characters were relatable and the supporting cast weren’t too shabby either.
If you’re looking for a light read with a May-December vibe to it, then this is tue book to pick-up next.
Montana has always been a free spirit she grew up with her brother and parents living in an RV and traveling all over never staying in one spot for too long. When her grandfather passes away and she inherits his house in a wealthy town on a lake she plans to stay for the summer fix it up and then sell and move on. She meets Sam Matthews the contractor that will be working on fixing up the house. She is attracted to him instantly and decides that a summer fling may be in order.
Sam lives in the next town over he spends most of his time taking care of his dad who had a bad accident a few years ago. He has no time for a relationship. He meets Montana and he is drawn to her, she is quite a bit younger than he is but she has an old sole. He cannot seem to resist her. They both decide on a no strings attached summer seeing as he will be spending most of the summer at her place fixing it up.
Montana never expected to fall for the handyman, will she change Sams mind on a relationship and make it more than a summer fling?

Fixing Him is the second book in the Fixing series by Miranda Elaine. I read Fixing Her and so enjoyed it could not wait to see what the author had in store for us.
This is Sam and Montana’s story we met Sam in Fixing Her he is Asher’s 2nd hand man on Kade construction. Montana inherited a house on the lake from her grandfather after his death, she planned to stay the summer while it was being renovated. She also just so happens to have a pet pig named Kermie. The house needs lot of works and Sam was recommended to her to do the work. These two are very different Montana is a sassy and cute heroine, Sam is a hardworking and has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.
This author creates some wonderful characters and great storylines!! Love visiting with the characters from Fixing Her. This was a fun, flirty and light read!!
Fixing Him by Miranda Elaine
5 Stars
I fully enjoyed this story as much as I loved the first book in the series, Fixing Her! Fixing Him surely didn’t disappoint either! Very well written. Kept my interest throughout.
“Sweets, from the moment I finally opened up to you I think I knew you’d changed me. It took me longer than I should admit, but once I knew it scared me. You scared me.”
Please grab these two books! You will love it as much as I did!! Quite incredible!
I loved Fixing Him by new author Miranda Elaine, it’s the second in the ‘Fixing’ series and it’s just as fun to read as nook 1, Fixing Her.
Montana is a young woman who’s feeling her way in life when she is bequeathed her grandfather’s old house and decides to move to the town where he once lived, to get the house ready for sale. It’s in need of some work and she hires a local company to do the renovations and that’s how she meets the sexiest man she’s ever seen.
Sam feels an attraction to Montana, but he doesn’t do relationships or hook up with clients, but this little sex kitten is about to tempt him to throw all his rules out the window. He’s a strong, caring guy who likes to be in control of his life but the chemistry firing between them is more than they can resist.
Sam might have thought he was bad at relationships but when the time is right there’s just no fighting it. Lovely, warm-hearted story that will leave you smiling.
Once again I am blown away by Miranda Elaine! Fixing Him has everything from sweet and funny to emotional and moving. Every single page contained something that captured me and stole my heart just a little bit more. By the time I’d reached the end of Montana and Sam’s story these two had officially become one of my favorite couples of all time!
Montana especially stole my heart. A unique combination of adorable, fun innocence and also at times being wise beyond her years it was flat out fun to read her. She’s quirky, hilarious, and a fellow junk food junkie! Sam on the other hand is occasionally very much the “old man”. Carrying quite the load of responsibilities he fights the intense pull between them as best as he can thinking she’s too young and he doesn’t have time for a relationship.
I loved that Montana wasn’t the “poor pitiful me” type. She was determined to get her man. When these two finally come together that chemistry turns explosive in a way that not only has steam pouring off the pages but also leaves you swooning at the sweetness. All of that plus characters I already loved from the previous books and new characters that had me laughing like crazy made Fixing Him a book I know I’m going to go back and reread a lot!
Not what I expected!!! Fixing him by Miranda Elaine has awed me with this exceptionally written, sexy and funny story. I couldn’t stop reading once I started.
Montana thought that one summer spent renovating a lake house that was left to her would be a short yet wonderful experience. She certainly didn’t see a Sam in her future, the sexy older man that sets out to help win her over and her make her swoon. The two had an instant spark but even after trying to resist the temptation was to much. They decide that one summer was all they would have, no strings, no attachment, no future after!! But who is lying to who? Will they be able to walk away after the summer ends?
I was so delighted with this book, it hits all the feels and makes me laugh. Very well written and unique. A definite must read!!!
Free spirited Montana finds herself the beneficiary of her grandfathers lakeside property, a property that is too big and empty… and in dire needs of renovation…with her pet pig in tow and a whole summers worth of time to set her future plans in motion she sets off. Finding herself in an affluent town, is a complete 180 from the world that Montana is used too.. but when she meets foreman, builder and the love god that is Sam she knows she’s found one person to help make the summer go smoother. If only he would stop keeping her at arms length.
Sam has responsibilities, his father, his job and his future plans at times feel overwhelming but that doesn’t stop him from being the best person he can be and supporting Others to his best ability. Finding himself at Montana’s lake side property everyday for the summer is too much, she’s too much… not what he expected and he finds himself striking a ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement. He’s not the relationship kind of guy.. is he? Standalone second in the ‘Fixing’ series… I loved the first in this series… I adored this one…it was an absolute pleasure to read. Catching up with characters from the first book was great ( and also.. possibly..maybe..sets up the next book in the series… Leigh I’m looking at you )
We met Sam in the first book and I knew he was going to be a dark horse..despite his ‘loverboy’ exterior, he was an true softie at heart and a wonderful book boyfriend. Montana is his opposite, on the surface she is carefree and fun loving but she has an nurturing and caring old soul that can’t help but want to look after others.
The reality that they actually have a lot in common was not lost to me and that Sam at times felt Montana was too good, too young, too sweet for him made my heart ache as well as beat fast… that he thought he was so undeserving of her love broke my heart into a tiny million pieces. of course Montana sees and recognises Sam for is true worth. The push and pull between them was electric and the chemistry was through the roof. This book is a true sweet and spicy romance. A brilliant red from start to finish. Bring on book 3…PLEASE!!
Flirty, funny, and a sweet romance. The pig stole my heart!
Fixing Him by Miranda Elaine was an awesome funny and sexy romance I loved reading so much! It is not angsty or dark. But it is intense, passionate, flirty, hilarious and all about having a great time! This is a kind of book where you leave all your worries behind and just enjoy yourself.
This story will make you laugh and sigh. A perfect light hearted read for the romantic in your heart.
Montana reaches in the lakeside after inheriting the house from her grandfather after his death. She is a free and liberating soul all the way. She meets Sam when he takes the job of repairing the house. Sam has lot of responsibilities on his shoulders like his disabled father and the construction company. In contrast to Montana he is closed and controls his impulses. But all that is threatening to change when Montana’s light creeps into his darkness.
The story was incredible in detailing. I loved the grumpy yet perfect gentleman Sam. I wish I could be like Montana and do whatever I want like travelling and having best time of life. I loved the amazing friends of Sam and Montana. The quirky and a bit crazy hair stylist Leigh, the totally messed up yet adorable Temperance, the over the top hilarious and sometimes annoying gay couple of Diego and Tex ( Montana’s brother)- everything added an element of surprise and absolute beauty to the story! The author described the pull and push of the relationship perfectly! The chemistry was hot. The ending was epic and may have made me a bit of teary.
Are you looking for a feel good Romance to make your day better? Sam and Montana will brighten up a long day and lighten up your mind. A sweet and refreshing read from Miranda Elaine.

Montana is a feisty free spirit, and when she hires Sam to update her grandpa’s cabin, the attraction is instant between them. Sam is set in his ways and is convinced Montana is too young for him; however, is he strong enough to resist temptation? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story, which is fun, sweet, sexy, and hilarious. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
