After reading Fixing Her, I knew I’d be looking to read more words the author put out into the world, so I obviously jumped at the chance to get my hands on Fixing Him and I have to say that this book turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. I know you’re thinking, “Huh?” Well, Fixing Her got a little angsty for a minute there, so I prepared myself for something similar…and I found out quickly I shouldn’t have bothered. Fixing Him is a laughed out loud, cheeks hurting from smiling so much feel good romance with the perfect amount of heat, a good dash of drama and a whole bunch of heart that I devoured in no time.
Montana is a force to be reckoned with. She’s sassy and snarky and yet adorkable all at the same time. Much more mature than one would assume, she is very comfortable in her own skin and makes no excuse for liking what she likes and has a compassionate soul that shines through her every action.
Sam is a sweetheart. Charming and protective, he’s the guy you can count on to get things done, but he is also a man who has decided to take the weight of the world on his shoulders ~ even when he shouldn’t ~ and has a strong tendency to keep any sort of emotional intimacy at more than an arm’s length away.
Montana and Sam’s journey was all kinds of opposites attract fun. I loved their bantering and how, though they were opposites in more way than one, they had this flow, this spark between them that only grew stronger the longer they were in each others bubbles. There was quite a bit of push/pull ~ hard for there not to be considering Sam’s stance on relationships ~ but I loved how Montana got under his skin, even when she wasn’t trying. The smexy between them was hot and though there was no Sword of Damocles type of issue in their journey, they had a few obstacles to navigate around before getting the HEA they so richly deserved.
This really was a fun, character driven, very low on angst romance and while Montana and Sam were it’s focus, the supporting cast of characters definitely upped the ante. I loved catching up with Kade, Temperance & Ellie (who is absolutely adorable) and Leigh. But Tex, Diego and Kermie kinda stole the show for me. They had me cracking up with their antics and I’m hoping we’ll get updates on them as the series continues!

I read the series all backwards – I somehow read the first and third books but skipped the second book. I finally corrected my mistake and read this book, I couldn’t believe I skipped it. I seriously love Montana and Sam. Montana is young and has this carefree spirit about her that I really enjoyed. Kermie is an amazing bonus to her character, too! She is such a great match for Sam, who is older and has a serious side to him, but man is he a romantic at heart. They both come with their own sets of baggage, but how they handle that baggage really sets the tone for their character development and their relationship. It’s sweet, it’s spicy, it’s absolutely adorable, and it’s a must-read. While you can read this as a standalone, you really need to read this whole series!
I’ve been looking forward to Fixing Him for a while now. We meet Gabe and Gabe has had a rough childhood and even harder teen years, but he’s madly in love with Leigh. He needs to do what’s right and breaks up with her until he gets his life together. It takes a little longer than he thought…
I absolutely loved Fixing Him!! Leigh is strong and independent and I adored her. Watching her go through her ups and downs trying to get a life straight, and fighting for what she truly wants Gabe. And then there’s Gabe oh my God I loved what Lee said a Beautifully Broken Man and that’s fits him to a T. As you read the story you fall for him more and more I absolutely loved Gabe. Watching him struggle go back and forth who is hard you want him to find himself and self-worth. Miranda does a beautiful job writing heart-wrenching story of young love and finding that balance of what addiction does to you. You can’t help but cheer for Gabe you want him to go for it. It was a definite emotional rollercoaster ride going through ups and downs, with these two you’re cheering for them, cringing and parts, and through it all you never lose hope. A definite must read!!
RATING 4.5 STARS
Fixing Him is book two in the Fixing series by Miranda Elaine. I loved the first book in this series, Fixing Her, and was so looking forward to this next one. I regret that it took me so long because I think I enjoyed it even more than the first one. These can be read as a stand alone with no problems whatsoever, but the characters do recur and you would definitely be missing out by not starting on the first book.
Montana Rhodes was twenty two years old. Her grandfather whom she barely knew has passed away and left her his lake house. Montana has recently finished college and is going to take the summer to get the house upgraded so she can sell it and decide what she wants to do with her life after that. When the contractor shows up to give her an estimate, it only takes Montana one look and the summer is starting to look a lot better!
Sam Matthews is thirty one years old and is a foreman working for his best friend, Asher Kade with Kade Construction. Sam spends his days working and his evenings either working on his own house, or looking after his disabled father. His father was severely hurt nine years previous in a work accident and Sam is all that he has to help him out. They are all each other has. When Sam looks back at all his father did for him, there is no question that he will do all he can for his dad. Sam has no time in his life for relationships. He has no more to give. He makes sure any woman he hooks up with knows ahead of time that it’s one night only, nothing more.
The first time Sam saw Montana, he was instantly attracted to her. But she is much too young for him. Plus, she’s their new client. But he can’t get her off his mind and Montana has no hesitation letting him know she is interested. So a deal is struck. Montana is only here for the summer and Sam doesn’t do relationships. So they’ll enjoy each other for the three months she’s going to be there, they’ll have fun. Then part ways. It sounds like the perfect plan. Except you know that things rarely work out the way you think they will.
“She calms me.”
“She’s pure joy, a joy I didn’t know was missing from my life until this moment.”
Montana is so full of life. She has an adorable little tiny pet pig named Kermie. She seems to spread her happiness wherever she goes. Slowly, her light starts to break through the darkness that Sam has kept around him. He can’t think of anything but her. And when things take a turn for the worse with his father, it’s Montana that gives him peace, that calms the storm inside of him.
“You, Sam, it’s only you I see.”
Montana knows what she agreed to. What she didn’t know was how hard it was going to be to walk away. But that was the deal. She’s determined to pack away every one of the memories she has with Sam to keep her warm after their time is done. She had a plan, sell the house, then move on! That’s what she has to do, that’s what she agreed to. She just hadn’t planned on the part that included a broken heart.
First, I loved Montana. And her adorable little piglet! She brightened every page she was on. And Sam! Beautiful, lonely Sam. He thinks that this is all he can ever have, one night stands, work, and caring for his father. But little by little Montana works herself into his heart. She makes him wonder if maybe, just maybe, there might be room for more.
These two were so adorable together. I loved them both so much. Their chemistry was off the charts hot! Montana was so good for Sam. They balanced each other out. She was young, yes. But I feel like she was mature way beyond her years. And Sam needed her vibrancy to remind him how to let loose a little bit.
I pretty much loved everything about these two and have fallen in love with this small town. This had the absolute best epilogue. I can’t wait to start the next book, Fixing Us, which is Gabe and Leigh’s story.
A sweet romance with a cute pig! Sam and Montana meet when she comes to town to a home she inherited in need of some upgrading. They are attracted but he fights it. Their sparks are real and their story is sweet. I love Tex and Diego too!!
Another fun, sweet and addicting story in the Fixing series from Miranda Elaine. I love this standalone series. If you fell in love with Fixing Her, get ready to fall hard for this book. This story is about Sam and Montana. I loved these characters. Sam is the man all hopeless romantics swoon over. Talk about a good guy hottie. His heart is by far the sexiest thing about him. And Montana has a heart to match his. They were a perfect match without ever planning to be. They expected just to be short term romance. But life never goes along with what we plan. I loved every second of this story. I guarantee all fans of romance, sweet stories, stories to inspire you and stories that just are great will love this book.
Fixing Him is the first book I have read by this author and I really liked it. I loved Sam and Montana. They had amazing chemistry and scorching sexy scenes. Kermie was cute and now I want my own pet piggie!
Montana never expected the guy coming to give her quotes for renos to be as hot as he was, she even sends an SOS to her friends she can’t have him there looking like he does. Her friends offer her no help after she send them a pic, except to tell her that she need to hit that. Deciding she can hit on the sexiest man alive, she’s surprised when he says she young and he’s too old.
Montana notices something change about Sam, almost giving her the cold shoulder, and can’t handle it so gets out of the house. Talking to her brother, she’s determined to make Sam see she’s not innocent, and clingy, and make him see what she really is.
They both fight the attraction, but Montana lets him know he needs to let go of everything even if just for a moment asking him to join her. Sam can’t fight the attraction between them anymore but makes sure she knows he doesn’t do relationships.
When Montana has to suddenly leave, she leaves Kermie with Sam till her friend can pick him up, and Sam realises what he’s been denying for so long, he loves her and there is room in his life for her, but will Montana want to stay in the one place and be with him.
It was only supposed to be for the summer. Sam thinks Montana is too young for him but things change or do they, this was a sweet cute romance!
Fixing Him is Miranda Elaine’s second novel in her standalone Fixing series. It is the sweet romantic comedy about finding love when you aren’t looking for it. Sometimes the love of your life finds you in the most unexpected places, just like in Montana and Sam’s story.
Miranda has once again created wonderful characters. Montana and Sam have an undeniable attraction for each other. She is a free-spirited young woman that inherits a lake house after her grandfather’s passing and hires Sam to help remodel the home so that she can sell it at the end of the summer. Over the few months that they spend together during the remodel, Montana can’t help but fall for Sam’s loving personality and helps bring him out of his comfort zone.
The fun twists that Miranda has added in this story makes it a joy to read. Montana has the cutest little pet pig and an addiction for strawberry hard candies which Sam can’t get enough of. You just don’t hear of things like that in most books which really makes Miranda’s work one of a kind.
(I received an ARC of Fixing Him in exchange for my honest review.)
Final Score – 4.5 Stars!
This is my first novel by Miranda Elaine and I have to say, she now has a fan in me for life! Fixing Him is the perfect blend of a sweet slow burn romance, where the passion is scorching hot and the storyline is rock solid.
Sam and Montana two people you wouldn’t necessarily see as a couple, but whenever they were together, you could feel that electrical undercurrent brewing between them. These two couldn’t resist their attraction to one another, no matter how hard Sam initially tried to fight it. The main reason being their age/life style differences. It was hysterical to watch him try … and fail so miserably though.
And what story is complete without an animal … Kernie added a level of cuteness and fun that helped to bolster the story and endeared it to me. Who has a miniature pet pig? Of course only Montana would and it just added to her uniqueness of character. If I didn’t have my dog …
Fixing Him is a definite must read for anyone looked for a fun, whitty, sweet romance about two opposites who find that they aren’t as different as they seem.
I have to admit, at first I wasn’t feeling this book because I couldn’t connect with Montana. I thought she was flighty, immature and all over the place. However, Ms. Elaine did a wonderful job of changing my mind!! Montana turned out to a charming heroine who won me over. I loved this cute, hilarious and sweet book. Sam and Montana were such a fun and enjoyable couple to read about. Sam was pretty awesome with his tough personality but his kind and genuine heart made me fall for him immediately. These two couldn’t have been more different and it was entertaining reading about their interactions as well as their steamy moments.
Fixing Him’s storyline is lighthearted and set at such an easygoing pace. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Elaine and I will be coming back for more.
Fixing Him is book 2 in the Fixing series and you do not need to read each book to understand this story. This is my first book by this author and in the series. While it appears that the characters are interconnected you are never felt like a piece of the story is missing. Though I will say is it a requirement that the men who work for Kade Construction must be hot?! The pictures we get in our heads of these characters has you wanting to break things and hoping that you can speed dial this construction company to fix your home.
Montana finds herself in a town that is completely out of her element outside of Red Oak. The characters will get a No strings attached, you get the Summer together and then it’s a goodbye to the town of Red Oak and Sam. Sam isn’t looking for a relationship, he has many things on his plate, but the connection between these two are real. You will see that taking an Uber may have been her best way into town. That is all I will say on that fateful moment as there were quite a few that made it meant to be.
She falls for the town and fighting the attraction for each other while he is fixing her inherited house. One thing Sam should know is, “never judge a person by the cover” cause his first impression of her was way off base. He has a lot on his plate, but what is learned in this Summer of fun is that you can still focus on your priorities and still give yourself a little me time to help ease your stress factor.
Makes you laugh, smile and hurt when they hurt. You almost forget your reading a story and realize that no you cannot go to town and visit these amazing characters. OH my, I love the little girl’s outburst of her questioning Montana’s name and Sam’s dad and Karen’s outcome. It was quite funny! While the title is Fixing Him, you will see not only does Montana help him grow and discover the balance of work/life that she also grows in her own way. You will love her quirky family especially her brothers. That ending though gets you cause that is not what I expected (I thought it would be reverse and I was wrong ok, twice I was wrong) and sometimes the things you least expect happen at the right time in your life. Loved it!
While I didn’t get to read Asher/Temperance’s story, I am so glad that I read this story and we can only hope that Leigh gets a story. These girls together are a riot and the men are just as funny. There is not one set of characters that you meet that you don’t fall in love with. Even a pet will become your favorite animal. If the demand for this pet becomes popular, we can always thank the author. Wonder if my Village would allow for one? haha
This is my first book from Miranda Elaine and I really enjoyed it. I loved Sam and Montana together, their banter back and forth was as fun to read as the steamy moments. Montana was one of those characters that I could see being friends with if she was real. I mean who doesn’t understand a girl who loves Target?! She took charge, going after Sam when he would pull back. This was a girl who knew what she wanted! I also liked that she was who she was and didn’t change to fit in with her surroundings. Sam was such a sweet character and I enjoyed him fighting the loosing battle that was his connection with Montana. This was one of those book where not only did I love the main characters, but also loved the secondary characters too. Well…almost all of them!
Fixing Him is my first book by the author, I can honestly say after this I’m a huge fan.
I fully intend to go back and read Fixing her, I really want Temperance & Kade’s story now.
Going in I wasn’t sure what to expect, this story is emotional, sweet, funny and sexy all rolled up into a well written, highly engaging tale.
The characters are relatable, I could seriously be best friends with Montana and her sweet little pig. Sam’s a pretty great guy as well. While he had some issues with accepting what he does or does not deserve he was a gentleman. He tried to do what he thought was right always for everyone but himself, I loved that about him. His love for his father was endearing, I just kept hoping he would open his eyes and his heart and see what was right in front of him.
Fixing him is funny, there’s quite a bit humor, plenty of sexiness and a lot of heart.
I’m absolutely hooked on this author, I can’t wait to jump into her other book.
Sam and Montana were a fun couple. I loved how they met and how they couldn’t resist their attraction to one another despite how much Sam fought it. He wanted to stay away from Montana for a great number of reasons but in the end, he just couldn’t resist her and it’s not like she made it easy on him either. And it was so much fun to watch.
And Kernie added a fun and cute factor to the story too; I adored him. Montana had a little pig for a pet – Kernie – and honestly it was the freaking cuttest to read about. I have wanted one for myself at some point in the past couple of years and this book just made me want one again.
Fixing Him was definitely a fun and sweet read about two people faced with their own problems and very different lives that somehow cross paths and fit like two puzzle pieces but don’t know how to fit the rest of their lives together. It was only meant to be a summer fling but instead they found their forever, will they fight for each other or let each other go? Find out by reading this sweet and fun book.
A summer fling that was supposed to end come fall. However, love doesn’t follow a plan.
Montana is new in town. After inheriting her grandfather’s lakehouse, she’s in town for a few months to get it remodeled and then sold. This girl is young and so full of life. I absolutely adored her free spirit and kind heart.
Sam works as a foreman for Kade Construction and he’s the man who will be remodeling Montana’s lakehouse. Sam is a hard-worker, dedicated to helping his disabled father and has forgotten what happiness is. Montana is about to breath new life into him.
Sam and Montana are drawn to one another, even though Sam is bound and determined to stay away. He wants her to live a life not weighed down with his baggage. Plus he’s also hung up on the fact that he’s ten years older. Montana will not be deterred in her pursuit of what she wants and in this case it’s Sam.
Another great read from this author. The characters make you fall in love with them and their small town life. We got to catch up some with Temperance, Kade and Leigh and I always enjoy that. I love a sexy age gap romance and this definitely checked all the boxes!
Fixing Him is the second book in the Fixing Series by a newbie author, Miranda Elaine. Book One, Fixing Her, came out in June of 2018 and Fixing Him came out in December of 2018. Both are connected through characters but are stand-alone books. At this point, I have only read Fixing Him but that will be remedied very soon! Let me tell you a little bit about Sam and Montana.
Montana is a 22 year-old nursing school graduate who has inherited her estranged grandfather’s lake house. Mind you now, this lake house is not a tiny fishing cabin. It is, or will be once again, a beautiful 4000 square foot house in very posh area. On her first day in Lakeside, Montana realizes that the local grocery store only carries “Twizzlers” which are sugar-free, organic, with no added food coloring or flavors. That was almost the sign that the young, sugar addict needed to abort the daunting task of updating the lake house before selling it at the end of the summer.
Sam is the nephew of the Uber driving who picked up Montana at the airport. He also happens to be the foreman of Kade Construction, the company that Montana hired to remodel the lake house. Sam is a 32 year-old bachelor who appreciates the casual hookup but has sworn off relationships due to caring for his disabled father and his busy work schedule.
What could this young, free-spirited 22 year old woman have in common with a 32 year-old, construction foreman? One word…chemistry. Sam is a 6 foot 3 inch, romance novel worthy Adonis who makes Montana almost burst into an impromptu orgasm upon first sight. Montana is nothing like Sam expected and is constantly surprising him. Not only is she a client but she’s a goddess that makes it nearly impossible to work due to the constant need to adjust himself. There is a pull that is unlike anything Sam has ever experienced before and it scares the hell out of him that all he can think about are strawberries and bikinis.
Miranda has done a great job with Fixing Him! The character development of both the main and secondary characters is well thought out. You can tell that she has really done research to make the story believable even down to the Kermie, the miniature pig that steals the story. I, personally, could not put the book down. Montana’s quirky personality and her twin brother, Texas, had me laughing hysterically. I might have even shed a couple of tears but I will not tell you why because that will ruin it for you. (No spoilers here!) Without hesitation, I give Fixing Him by Miranda Elaine 5 out of 5 propellers!
What a great second chance romance. Sam is set in his ways and wasn’t prepared for Montana. Montana is larger than life and a beautiful person inside and out. As Montana works to get Sam’s attention she also helps Sam break down his walls and find out the love can come.

Fixing Him had me at first page! This gem had me literally staying up late because I just had to see how it would all end. I love Montana. She is a hoot! She is fun and outrageous at times. She does not have a filter which brings out her beauty inside and out. That also twists up Sam too! Our lovable and adorable Sam. Our hero takes on the world and before he knew it, Montana came crashing into his life like a tornado.
The banter and undying attraction these two have make sparks fly! I love all the woman in this story as they are fierce, strong, and know how to have a girls night in! I want to be a part of that clan too! Will Sam allow Montana hold some of his burden? Will he finally see that age is nothing but a number? I loved the chemistry these two had and at the same time I was yelling at Sam to open his eyes. It’s funny how you may not go out looking for love, but love will still find you. I loved everything this book had to offer and have a new series I am addicted to!
