I really enjoyed this book! I loved the storyline of these two, so much!!!
Mellie has been through some things in the past, and doesn’t leave the house much. Then she meets Smith.
Smith should stay away, as Mellie is his old partner’s little sister. If he found out about even what he was thinking about Mellie, he’d be a dead man!
Mellie knows her brother would go crazy if she gets involved with someone, and especially Smith.
Smith had a great childhood, but had lost of his family in a freak accident. Can Mellie help him as much as he’s going to help her?
I loved the twists and turns of this story so much. The creepy neighbour, and just to everything that happens!
Can wait to read more in the series!
Some of my fave quotes from the book
1. “Oh my God, Smith. This is the best thing I’ve ever had in my mouth.”
I could think of something that she’d grow to love having in her mouth more than pancakes. – I love the things that Smith thinks about Mellie, and things he hasn’t even told her either!
2. It’s because he’s in nothing but a towel, and I’ve never seen anything so hot in my life. – Mellie can’t keep her eyes of Smith! I wouldn’t have been able to either.
3. Trying to process why, for the first time in almost a decade, I’m letting a woman inside more than my pants. – Smith finally opening up to Mellie.
4. And then what do I do? Look right at it. I can’t stop staring at his penis. “You wanna touch it, baby?” – ROFL!!! Mellie can’t help herself!
5. She’s not his responsibility anymore. She’s mine. – Smith makes a bold statement but can her brother deal with it?
This is an emotional story but one I enjoyed very much. Mellie has been through hell in her short life, not once but twice. She’s trying to rebuild her world after it keeps crashing down on her but fate has other ideas. Smith lost everything and has rebuilt himself but the last thing he wants is to ever love anyone again. He’s immediately distraught by his instant attraction to Mellie. She’s his best friend’s little sister so she’d be off limits even if he wasn’t determined to be a loner forever.
There was a lot going on with this plot but Anna Brooks laid it out perfectly. Despite the action and fast pace, there were no plot holes and the story moved at just the right speed. The thriller aspect to this book is phenomenal but I loved the romance also because Smith and Mellie are excellent characters. This was my first book by this author, but I’m definitely going to check out more.
mellie cut herself away from the world after a horrific situation. she have inherited a house from her grandfather that she never she had. she decides to reinvented and that’s when she met smith porter. Smith Porter a former police officer returned home to help with the family business who also happened to be mellie’s brother expartner. They begin to find they are attracted to each other. All is going good until danger came calling. again.

erik anderson and polly madison came from two different background due to a circumstances erik though he had failed his loves ones.so when he met polly all his protectioness was put on her. but polly knew that they come from a different background just when polly was about to come to be a couple the past came back to haunt them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Smith and Mellie, two people who are not supposed to get together. She’s his friends younger sister, and he shouldn’t go there. But he does, it’s an instant connection and Mellie is getting over some serious issues. She’s young and doesn’t want to be a victim anymore. There is more than one threat in this story and quite the twist near the end. I loved their connection and their path to figure it all out. I am a fan of Ms. Brooks and I will read the next one in the series for sure.
Wow, this book kept me on my toes. Wonderful characters. The twisted mind of some people is haunting and scary. The love between the two main characters is beautiful to watch grow and become strong enough to endure all. Must read.
Wow! The build up of suspense had me up all night trying to get to the end. I love that it wasn’t the typical love story, and kept me guessing who the bad ones were. A must read for everyone and great job by the author. Can’t wait to read more from her
This was my first time reading a story by Anna Brooks. I enjoyed the roller coaster ride of the friendship between Millie and Smith. I like stories that are dark and twisty with angst and tragedy. I am looking forward to reading more by her soon. I was interested to read/listen when I noticed that Jacob Morgan and Ava Erickson narrated.
So many aspects of PTSD was explored in this book. Also how people try to help but really do not understand that there are different ways to help and not exacerbate the symptoms. I loved the development of the characters.
Gréât and easy to read
An intriguing, captivating, and thrilling journey to go on with Millie and and Smith. I enjoyed everything about this book.
This story held my interest but at times got wearied by Mellies continued crying. It all ended well & loved Smith! I just prefer female character a little “stronger” I guess.
I loved this book! The story was written so well. I absolutely loved the characters. The steamy scenes weren’t written very well and it was just so good I couldn’t put it down!
Really great!
* AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *
Great entertainment!
The storyline is good and I enjoyed it, I missed that little extra feeling in it to make it fabulous. And at times I felt like the main characters behaved irrational.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good amount of dialogues
The chemistry between the main characters is hot and that makes for some sweet love scenes
A nice suspense and action is helping to hold my attention.
Narrators:
Clear pronunciation and read with feelings, I like these narrators

Audiobook Review:
Fixing Fate (A Pleasant Valley Novel) is a romantic tale with suspense trickling through out the narrative.
I enjoyed learning about the character’s background and felt it gave you a better understanding of the character’s and their actions. Without going into detail, tear drops cascading down your face as you listen to Smith’s family history. However, I didn’t find myself totally invested in this audiobook or its main characters. I did really like Smith’s friend who I can’t remember his name though. I found some parts confusing and alot going on that could have been fleshed out. Although, a sweet epilogue to wrap up this romantic suspense.
Narators Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan are new to me. Their performance was alright. They gave the narrative a voice with different tones in the right places.

I could NOT put this book down. Every time I thought I had hit the climax of the book something happened. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!!!!
Stayed up reading this book from start to finish! couldn’t put it down!
Great story! I love this author!!! <3
The Pleasant Valley Series is three books 1 by Anna Brooks. Each is better than the last. Each of these stories are unique in their own written way and are just remarkable stories: Three full-length romances filled swoon-worthy alphas and nail-biting suspense.
First book is Fixing Fate. The Carpenter and the friend’s little sister. This story took me by surprise, just when I thought I figured it out, there were some pretty unseen surprises that were thrown at you.
Second book is Love me. The tattooed tattoo artist and the sandwich shop cook. Couldn’t be two more opposite attracts with these two. The emotional, letting go and trying to find that bit of happiness was never so sweet for these two.
Book Three in the series is Steady. Now since book 1 I was dying for more Erik and book 3 is finally when we get to meet up with him again.
Like I said each story is unique in its own way, and as they each standalones, reading them straight three together is so much more feeling to each couple throughout.
So this was okay but seriously Mellie has the worst luck ever which kind of made it unrealistic. I mean molested by one man at 17 and then have another man become obsessed with her the minute he sees her. It was kind of just like sure. That being said Smith was a fantastic character and the audio book was very well done. This does seem to be the best book in the series the other ones I could not even finish.
