Elliott’s life is in a shambles. Totally lost and trying to fake it so her friends won’t worry, she figures it can’t get worse. Then her best friend’s brother, Duke comes home and Elliott is drowning. Crushing on him since the moment they met, she thinks the attraction is totally one-sided. Duke has always had a thing for Elliott but he never thought he had a chance. When they give into their attraction, it is everything they both hoped for and more. Will these two damaged souls take a chance and realize they were made for each other?
I have been a fan of Emma Louise since her first book, Score came out this summer. This was where we first met Duke and Elliott as minor characters. The burn to know their story was planted and I hoped we would see them soon. I was so excited to get my hands on Fixed and I have to say it was everything I expected. Ms. Louise gives us full-fledged characters you can’t help but love and need to see get the happy ending they deserve. Fixed is absolutely perfect in my eyes, it deserves all the stars! If you like Kristen Ashley, Adriana Locke or Aurora Rose Reynolds you need to check out Emma Louise.
The start of this book tore my heart up and I was actually pretty nervous to continue reading. The pain you felt even in the first chapter set a pretty high standard for emotions and I was afraid the momentum would lose its strength.
Completely wrong!
Not only did the momentum of this book build to extreme, you also get swept up in the overwhelming sensation to swoon and drool! Elliott grows emotionally from beginning to end and I was overcome with proud feelings to shot my happiness for her! Duke turns out to be half what I expected and half shockingly sexy and romantic. Even though I don’t think he opens himself as much as Elliott does, you can still feel the vulnerability deep in his bones.
Duke rocked my world and Elliott made my heart sing but the two who stole my heart were Bailey and Brooke!! Hands down loved those two and the ending just made me cry with happy tears!! I am absolutely ready to find out what’s going on with Lucy!!! She’s driving me crazy!!! Congrats on this soon to be best seller!!
When I first started reading the book I hated it, I almost stopped because I hate weak woman. And that is what I saw Elliott as, I mean she catches her husband cheating and that is bad enough but it was with her sister and then she doesn’t leave him he asks for a divorce and she didn’t want it. I flipped almost stopped reading right there, I mean c’mon on, he not only cheated on you repeatedly, but damn with your sister!!! Oh hell no, I would have Elaina Bobbett his ass..All that said she changed when she left her house with her kids, thank goodness and then here comes Duke, her hottie the guy she has fantasized about and then my friends the story changes and now I can actually repeat her name..Enjoy!
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions..
Once again Emma Louise has captured my heart with her characters. Emma Louise has surely made a mark in my heart as one of my new favorites. Her characters have depth and her storylines are well written, thought out and well rounded.
Elliot is one strong woman who’s been dealt a crappy hand. But she doesn’t take the poor treatment from her husband as the end of her world. She’s hurt, she’s a bit broken but she’s not “unfixable”.
In comes Duke their meeting, after years of not seeing each other is epic and you will be laughing out loud. Duke may seem like a strong man who’s got it all going on…and ex-veteran who was his sister’s caregiver growing up, but he has a few skeletons in the closet that make him believe he’s not worthy of love from anyone especially Elliot.
Elliot’s children are endearing and help peel away the layers of the tough exterior of Duke. Watching these two mend each other was beautiful and oh so sexy too.
This is another great installment of this series and I look forward to more from Emma Louise.
Fixed is the second book by author Emma Louise. She starts out grabbing ahold of your attention in the prologue. It was unputdownable!
Elliot is making a fresh start with her girls after her divorce. She is staying at Poppy’s house until she figures everything out. Duke is Poppy’s brother. He made an appearance in Score. He was in the Army but he is back in town and also staying at Poppy’s old house. This is where things get interesting and hot! Talk about a slow burn between Duke and Elliot (insert whistle)! Things are far from smooth and easy. They both have scars to overcome.
There is a healthy dose of angst mixed with a whole lot of sexy and funny at times. Emma did a great job writing a unique and captivating plot, and the characters are relatable and addictive. I highly recommend going on this journey with Duke and Elliot!
Cheers to this debut author who has done a wonderful job of writing an attention-grabbing original book! I look forward to seeing what is in store next!
This is the second in this series (#3 should be out early 2019) and I really, really love this world and the characters in it. We first meet Elliot in the first story, she’s Poppy’s BFF and a hilarious addition to that story. Now we get to focus on her and how she interacts with Poppy’s brother, Duke.
Elliot has found herself with a crumbling marriage, and Duke has ended a long stint in the military. Everyone has to start over at some point, these two just find themselves doing it together in Poppy’s old house because it’s a safe place to land for them both – it just so happens they need it at the same time.
Duke and Elliot have known each other a really long time, and that’s probably one of my favorite tropes – childhood crush with a friend’s sibling. It can be hard to navigate a relationship around the mutual friend / family member, but this couple has been avoiding the inevitable for a long time. They’ve got their own issues to work through to get there, but they’ve got a whole team of people supporting them whether they like it or not!
I really love this series, definitely recommend!
***ARC REVIEW***
I love Elliot and Duke!!!! We got a glimpse of Elliot being Poppy’s best friend in SCORE (Book 1).
Here are two people who have been previously treated so badly in their relationships. Elliot in the mist of a divorce from her current husband. The circumstances of the divorce are so foul. Then you have Duke who has never really had a serious relationship until one day he decides to and it all blows up in his face…
Elliot and Duke are so conflicted with Love. They each feel they don’t deserve it or one another.
Until someone takes the first leap!
You will totally enjoy these characters. Emma wrote an amazing book and Elliott and Duke story is one to tell!
I am quickly becoming a huge Emma Louise fan! Fixed is the second book I have read of hers and features characters we first met in Score but can be read as a standalone. Though Score is an amazing read as well and one I highly recommend. Elliot is Poppy’s best friend (from Score) and Duke is Poppy’s older and protective brother.
Elliott is devastated, but not surprised when the man who was supposed to stand by her side always walks away. Trying to be strong for her children, she is barely able to function some days. Even though she did not always feel like it, I felt she was so strong and determined. It just took her some time to see it as well.
I loved Duke so much. He always took care of Poppy when they were younger. He was protective, caring and full of determination. But he did not see himself as truly deserving of someone like Elliott. He was the bad boy to have fun with. But he was so much more.
Elliott and Duke decide on a no-strings relationship, but with a chemistry and connection like theirs, there is no denying what the heart wants. Can they truly keep their hearts out of it? I loved reading their journey and watching them fall, even when it was the last thing they wanted. Another great read from Emma Louise!
Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy reading!
Fixed is only the second book by author Emma Louise and what an absolutely phenomenal book it is! Right from the heart wrenching prologue, I was utterly captivated and I just could not put this book down. Emma Louise has done such an incredible job with her first two books and I’m very impressed and astounded with how she has captured my attention with her books and her beautiful flow of words.
I loved everything about this story. Reading how Elliot and Duke find their way together is so touching and moving, and written with undeniable skill. Individually, Elliott and Duke are both a little broken, but together they are whole and absolutely perfect. I adored the interactions and the relationship with Elliot’s daughter’s, Bailey and Brooke, and how they all finally come together to form a family.
With just enough emotional angst, heartbreak and love blended with plenty of sizzle and steam. Along with real, true and relatable characters, Fixed is well worth it’s five star rating.
Fixed is the second book from Emma Louise, although it can be read as a standalone it is interconnected to Score as part of the Flawed Love Series. I have been eagerly awaiting Duke and Elliot’s story since reading the sneak peak at the end of Score. The chemistry was screaming at me from the pages during their dance at Poppy and Keir’s wedding, so I had high hopes for Fixed – I was not disappointed.
Elliot has had her life flipped upside down by the betrayal of her sister and husband. Now a single mother trying to raise her 2 twin girls, Elliott is trying to find out for the first time in her adult life how to be happy on her own. Enter her bests friends older brother Duke, home from the army and he walks in on Elliott unannounced with the most awkward timing; but oh so good for my reading pleasure. As soon as these two protagonists are in the same room their chemistry just sizzles with a delicious slow burn.
Elliott grows so much throughout the book and considering where she started, Emma wrote her journey in an empowering, independent way – which I loved! Duke a guy with a few insecurities of his own, is a really multi faceted character and the depth Emma’s writing gave Duke, considering all the wall’s he put’s up was fantastic. These two characters just brought out the best in each other; but the glue that connected it all together and made for extra swoon was Bailey and Brooke. Those two little girls just gave another side to their relationship, one that I adore about single parent romances, mix that with some friends to lovers troupe and this makes me one happy bookworm.
Being part of an interconnected series means we also get to see how Poppy and Keir are getting on, as well as the ever tortuous love/hate relationship between Lucy and T.J who we will be seeing more of in Struck in early 2019. Those two are going to bring all the feisty drama and I cannot wait. Emma Louise is going from strength to strength and is definitely one to watch!
* I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary and honest review *
How pretty is that cover? 10/10 for that picture, it is beautiful if I hadn’t received an ARC I would have 1-clicked it just from the cover alone.
They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but in this case they are wrong. The story inside is every bit as beautiful as the outside.
Holy… WOW! All the feels (including, maybe, some nonfictional feelings about fictional characters).
Fixed was the best possible book to start this year with and it’s going to be a hard one to top – I freaking LOVED it.
I knew it would be hot but *fans herself* I think I just ovulated. Duke seriously, he did some weird things to my lady parts. The way he loved those little girls made me melt. So much love for him.
Elliot – I really appreciated that we saw her body insecurities (we have all been there) wishing we didn’t have those marks from growing to fast or that extra bit of padding from growing a human. The fact that she is a “real woman” is a huge bonus in my eyes.
The build up to breaking point was amazing, just enough to keep you hooked but not so long that you got bored waiting for them to sort their shit out.
Drama, lust, tension, hot AF sex, heart warming moments and annoying ex’s made this book impossible to put down.
I am really excited to read the next book, I know it is going to be freaking amazing – it’s already on my tbr list
Thanks Emma Louise for a fantastic read!
I LOVE Duke!!!!!!!
Ok, I was busting at the seams to shout that.
I’ll come back to him in a bit.
Once again, Emma Louise has knocked it out of the ballpark.
I read Score in one sitting and enjoyed how the story unfolded and how perfect the dialogue was written.
Fixed was the same way.
Downloaded on my Kindle and didn’t stop reading until the end.
Emma’s style of writing flows seamlessly and her efficiency of words is my kind of book.
I’ve noticed lately that some romances are so focused on a handful of adjectives before every thought or movement that by the time you arrive at it, you forgot what the character is even doing.
Emma tells the story with all the feels and emotion but no wordiness or unnecessary filler.
If you read as many books a year as I do, you’ll understand the difference.
Ok, now back to my current book boyfriend, Duke.
Ahhhhh, Duke.
I loved being inside his mind knowing how he felt about Elliott, but only had her best interest at heart.
He was patient, sweet with her 2 young girls and was sexy as all get out (Southern slang for AF).
Fixed is a complete standalone, but you’ll want to read Score because it’s awesome too.
Absolutely loved this second book by Emma Louise. Elliott is a newly divorced woman with 2 daughters and Duke is her best friends brother who just moved back to their hometown and there is definite attraction. Their story made me laugh, cry, and cheer for their HEA. I definitely recommend this great romance to everyone! My first 5 star read of 2019!
Emma Louise’s second book, Fixed, in the Flawed Love Series is a knockout. The prologue punches you in the chest right from the start and the story is un-putdownable. Elliott’s life is crumbling. Becoming a single mother to twins was never in the life plan. Duke is picking up life after years in the military. The chemistry and sparks start to fly between these two characters and it’s off the charts. The thing I love the most about Emma’s writing is that she truly writes relatable and real-life characters. She gives us the perfect mixture of angst, heartbreak, and love to make us whole again. Get ready to meet your newest book boyfriend. Duke is sweeter than pie and hotter than July. Definitely a must read for your 2019 book list!
Fixed is the second book by author Emma Louise and what a book! I was captivated from the prologue and just could not put this book down!
Elliot is starting over again and now that Duke is back in town, things are about to get hot! Duke is staying with Elliot and her twin girls and I’ll tell you, the slow burn between Duke and Elliot was sexy! Watching Duke and Elliot find their way together and then bring the two little girls into the mix? I loved it! Throw in some angst and some down right sexy times and this was one great read!
Grab a glass of wine, a blanket and settle in with Fixed!
Newly divorced Elliott is trying to fix her broken heart while trying to be the best mommy she can be to her two little girls. She’s trying to figure out what went wrong and what she could have done different in her marriage. Her best friend Poppy is letting her stay at her old house and when a visitor arrives unexpectedly, his appearance shakes Elliott’s already fragile existence.
Poppy’s brother Duke has decided to leave the army for good and move to Savannah where he can be around his new niece or nephew. He is shocked to see a very naked Elliott at her sister’s old house, but that shock turns to anger as she tells him the reason why she and her girls are staying there. When Duke agrees to stay at the house until he can find something permanent, tensions arise as they both try to deal with their pasts and self-doubts. Elliott has always had a crush on Duke, and Duke has always been attracted to Elliott but never wanted to interfere between her and Poppy’s friendship. Will they be able to look past their insecurities and take a leap of faith with each other?
Fixed is the second book in the Flawed Love series, and even though it’s a standalone I highly recommend reading Score, which is Poppy and Keir’s story. Elliott and Duke each have baggage and they need to overcome the feelings of unworthiness and not being enough. I couldn’t wait to read their story and this book did not disappoint. Anxiously waiting for Emma’s next book, which is Lucy and TJ’s story!
Emma Louise has knocked her sophomore book right out of the park! Elliott and Duke’s story is so much more then I expected!! This books grabs your attention from the very beginning and doesn’t let go!! Watching Elliot and Duke find their way together is so touching and brilliantly written! Love the interaction with Bailey and Brooke and how they all finally come together to make a family!! This author is now one of my top one click authors!!
