I’m really enjoying this series by Carey Heywood. The story lines are fresh and sweet with just enough adult content to keep it interesting but not over the top.
The characters are engaging and easy to fall in love with – making you cheer for their Happy Ever After at the end.
Can’t wait to jump into the next book in the series. You should add this fun easy read to your book collection to keep you entertained on a long weekend.
Happy Reading…enjoy!
If you have read books 1 & 2, you know that Abby is really great at taking the bull by it’s horns and plowing through whatever needs to be done. Lending a hand physically and emotionally whenever she is needed. Ms Fix it! As a real estate agent, she’s learn to really read people. Having 4 brothers and a loving family, you’d think she has it all. But even the most successful of people sometimes have self doubt and Abby is one of those people. Especially when it seems that things just can’t seem to go her way. Enter Spencer Hill….she knew him in high school but the Spencer that she sees again after 10 years is NOT the same man at all. Was he a nerd in high school? He was, so even now, he doubts that the most beautiful girl he always crushed on could ever want to date him. These two will need to let go of some preconceived notions about each other if they ever want to get on the same page. Sweet and sexy read.
FIX MY FALL is a standalone read with a HEA. It is a bit steamy. The series is about a big family, 4 brothers and 1 sister. They live in a small town where the family has owned the local hardware store for generations. This story is about Abby. She is a single, beautiful woman. She is a very successful real estate agent. She is bewildered as to why love has not found her yet. So she gets a cat! Emo. she is a fun, energetic spirit and everyone loves her.
Our hero is Spenser. He was the nerd in school. His genius level had made him somewhat of an outsider but no one was ever ugly towards him. Of course he had a crush on Abby but they were worlds apart. He has recently moved back to town. He is a professor at the local university and is an astrophysicist. He has changed quite a bit. He is a big fellow with striking good looks and the women not only notice him but quite often hit on him. He is somewhat shy and is really not interested – until his mother gets him an appointment with Abby to sell him a house.
This is a fun, endearing romance. It is light-hearted and leaves you feeling good. I really enjoyed the story and definitely recommend it. All the stories in this series has been a very good read. They can be read in any order but I preferred to start with book 1. They are all different and all good reads.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less 9/23/18
Super cute installment in series
Spencer had an unrequited crush on Abby in High School. Fast forward about a decade and Spencer a renown astrophysicist returning to his hometown to teach at the local university. He needs to buy a home, and his mother sets up a meeting with Realtor Abby. Abby is in a funk. Her brothers are all falling in love, and she doesn’t have a boyfriend. Then her home she has lovingly redecorated succumbs to a sinkhole. Both of them are attracted to each other, but don’t act on it because they don’t feel like they are good enough. This is a nice installment in the series. I rated it a four, rather than a five star since there wasn’t much tension or questions that they would get together.
Favorite Quotes:
If I didn’t need money so bad I would consider referring him to someone else. He’s so hot it’s distracting.
Earth’s atmosphere is twenty-one percent oxygen which makes my current level of breathlessness confusing.
Abby said you looked different but I didn’t believe her. You get bit by some radioactive spider in your lab man? ‘Cuz, holy shit, you’ve grown.
He smiles up at me, oblivious to the spinach leaf stuck to one of his back teeth. I point to my teeth. “You have something stuck in your teeth.” He nods, unbothered by this news. “I was saving it for later.”
That doesn’t stop me from carrying out a pretend conversation in my head. These are my favorite kind because I can control both sides of the conversation and not get in any trouble for saying what I want.
“Do you have a giant computer?” The corners of his eyes crinkle with his smile. “Huge.” “Oh, this conversation is starting to feel like foreplay.” He chokes, covering his mouth with the back of his hand as he coughs. “Science talk as foreplay. You might be my dream girl.”
My mouth waters like he’s fresh baked bread and I’m on a no carb diet.
My Review:
I am on book three of my continuing expedition of veneration and adoration for Carey Heywood and her The Fix Series. I cherish and pine for this author’s delightful wry humor and sweet and steamy stories between her releases. The books I have read so far have been a joy to read, amusingly clever, low conflict, written in my favorite dual POV, and pleasantly breezy with appealing and lovably quirky characters with a bit of edge. Her books do my heart good and tend to keep a smirk in place while reading. I adored Spencer, not only was he highly intelligent and sexy, he was patient, kind, thoughtful, polite, and a perfect gentleman who was also a gentle man – which is nirvana to me. Being a man of science and never having had a relationship, the clever and crafty Ms. Heywood has the brilliant and sexy Dr. Hill patiently and wisely applying the scientific method to his interactions with his high-school crush/current realtor Abby, he postulated a theory, formulated a hypothesis, performed his research, and gathered evidence from his experiments. Ingenious!
Another fun, feel good read in The Fix series. I love the family dynamic of the Thompson’s and Spencer is a great addition. Like its predecessors, the romance between Abby and Spencer is a slow build, allowing the reader to get to know the characters and feel the chemistry and love building. Abby and Spencer are good together, if a bit wary of romance in the beginning. All in all, another great, witty, low angst read in the series, and I’ll be interested to see what’s next for this wonderful cast of characters.
Nerdy to hottie…oh my…. The last time Abby saw Spencer he was the classic brainy nerd with the glasses to go with it. Now, even though he still wears glasses they make him look sexy. Don’t get me started on his body transformation. Spencer never felt Abby would give him the time of day back in high school so why should she want him now. He may be a hunk now but he is still kind of naive. When his boss flirts with him he doesn’t even notice.
The more time he spends with Abby the more attracted he becomes. The relationship that develops with them is special in its own way. It’s not rushed and is treated with tenderness. You cannot help but to wish these two characters a happily ever after. Once again Carey Heywood delivers a story true to believe and wishing on a star.
Fix My Fall by Carey Heywood is the third book in her series, The Fix . Told in dual POV, this is a well crafted romantic tale of a realtor on the edge and the high school nerd turned hunk that used to crush on her.
Abby Thompson loves her job as a realtor. She can read people well enough that she is mostly always successful when pairing them with their dream home. When she is enlisted to find a home for Spencer Hill she doesn’t expect the nice nerd that tutored her youngest brother to look quite as hunky as he does, never mind be the kind of guy that checks most of her boxes, that is, if she was looking for that right now.
Spencer has crushed on Abby since high school. Her family is nice, her brother Gideon that he tutored is NOT your typical jock and is someone he considers a friend, and now that he has Abby on the hunt for a home for him he can start to put a plan into action to let her know he is interested in more than just her realtor skills.
These two slow burn so hard – it was really sweet. Thank goodness for Abby’s best friend Samantha, or they may never have gotten out of their own way. Once they realize their attraction that slow urn turns into a full-on five-alarm fire. Hot and sweet, I couldn’t get enough of this astrophysicist and his anime loving girlfriend!
Well paced and well written, I absolutely enjoyed this story and cannot wait for more of these Thompson siblings. Enjoy!
