At thirty, I’m starting over after a scandal that nearly ruined me. New job, new fixer-upper house, and all new outlook. How did I end up with a tall, devilishly handsome Israeli roommate? I can’t actually tell you. Avi Cohen steamrolled into my life, and I kind of liked it.He’s a flirt, but we have a contract and rule number one is no sex. Which is a good thing, because as attractive as he is, … attractive as he is, he’s just putting his broken heart back together, and I’m not looking to be his rebound.
Only it seems out contract isn’t worth the pink highlighter and paper it’s written on since Avi’s never met a rule he didn’t want to break.
Avi wants more than a hook-up, and maybe I do too, but once he finds out about the scandal that rocked my past, he might never look at me the same.
(Fix Her Up was originally titled Pixie Cut)

I really enjoyed Avi and Laurel’s story. Avi is recently coming off of a break up and Laurel is a good girl still punishing herself for a bad decision. Chance meetings and circumstances bring them together but they soon find out that they are made for each other and just what the doctor ordered to help them each heal.
Julia Wolf cranked up the heat with Pixie Cut! She brought her signature sweet as candy style and then turned the heat up a few degrees to give us pure perfection! I have fallen in love with all these ladies and all their men. I knew Laurel would be the icing on the cake. She was and so much more! Laurel has made some mistakes, pretty big ones, but she learned from them and is trying her hardest to move on. New house. New job. New roommate. After meeting Avi it’s no surprise they are both smitten from the start. Can they survive living together and the undeniable connection they feel?
Laurel is hilarious! I share her love of all things superheroes and loved getting my geek on with her. Avi is so blunt that it’s refreshing. He just says whatever he thinks and has no time to sugarcoat things. He meshed so well with Laurel. They were opposites, yet they were perfect for each other. When drama hit the fan they both impressed me with his mature they were dealing with it and how much love they shared to get past it.
I’m so sad to see this ending, but what an ending it was! The epilogue will remind you why you swooned over these guys in the first place! This series, this book, every book, pure sublime!
Isn’t it funny how life can change in the span of…..a haircut? But, that’s what Laurel was looking for. Change. New job, new house, new haircut….she isn’t letting go of the pant suits yet, though! Laurel and Avi have a chance meeting that really changes their lives. I just love both of these characters. The rule maker & the ruler breaker. Ahhhhh their chemistry is sizzling in every encounter right from the beginning. Am I the only one that wants to hear Avi’s accent in person? Julia Wolf is master of words, I felt like I had front row seats to the show. With wonderful characters and an interesting storyline, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Read this book! I know you’re going to just love Laurel and Avi
I was gutted this was the last book about this amazing group of girls however this was yet another great read and made you fall in love with them all over again. Laurel made a big mistake at her old job and I mean big as in walked away from her job. She is now back near her girlfriends and starting over in a new job where her impressive collection of suits may no longer be needed, but thats not her only concern she bought a house impulsively and yeah her talents are really DIY. Avi has worked at Frannie’s salon for a few months and does Laurels hair when she pops in and her friends can’t fit her in, from there Avi burrows his way into her life as her flatmate and fixer upper guy and he becomes her very tempting eye candy. We get to see them both try and fight the attraction they have for each other as well as getting over their own pasts, oh and the laughs yeah you are going to have quiet a few of those along with a few heartbreaking sad moments but you know what if we didn’t gt them it would be a fantastic read.
Laurel’s life may have been just been flipped upside down professionally and emotionally, but she’s determined to get a fresh start with a new job and her new fixer-upper house. She isn’t looking for a roommate, but when one who happens to be good with his hands falls in her lap and offers to help her fix up her new home, she can’t say no, even when she knows she should.
Avi, hair-stylist extraordinaire needs a place to stay after breaking up with his long term girlfriend. When the lovely Laurel finds herself in his chair, Avi somewhat steamrolls his way into her life and her house. He needs a place to stay and she needs a roommate who can help her with her home renovations, so it seems logical.
Laurel’s not looking for romance in any way, but her new Israeli roommate is a total flirt and ridiculously handsome as well. He’s also extremely generous with his time and skills helping Laurel to make her new house a home. It’s a good thing they’ve agreed to no sex in their rental contract, because Laurel’s more interested in her roommate than she should be. And, Avi may be nursing a broken heart, but the lovely Laurel is working her way beneath his skin. Avi tells it like it is and he always says what he means. They may have no sex as one of their rules, but Avi has never been one to follow rules he doesn’t like.
Just when their budding romance seems to be taking a turn to the serious side, Laurel’s past comes screaming at them. Will Avi be able to accept Laurel’s past when it clashes with his own or will their days as roommates and lovers be through?
Honestly, no one writes a romantic man like Julia Wolf! These men are not necessarily alphas, or heroes, they are the normal sweet and amazing guy you truly hope you have the chance to meet and have a relationship with.
Avi is simply an amazing guy. He’s real and honest. He’s thoughtful and caring and romantic even when he is a bit pushy and may lack some tact due to his cultural background. He’s got his sights set on Laurel from the moment she pulls him into her closet and isn’t going to let her walk away from what he knows they can have.
Laurel is a spitfire. She intelligent and independent. She’s trying hard to separate herself from her past mistakes and atone for the guilt she feels. But, she doesn’t let it completely define her. Underneath her power suits, she is sweet and caring and insecure, making her easy to identify with.
Together, this couple is everything a couple should be, and I loved every minute of their friendship and flirtation and finally romance once they both gave in to their feelings. It’s really a fun and gorgeous story and fans of the stories will truly lose their minds with the epilogue – it’s a real treat! 5 stars
Another great read in a whole series of great reads. Every time I think I have a favorite couple in this series, the author gives me another. Avi and Laurel’s story is kind of an opposites attract romance but at the same time, these two are absolutely perfect together. Laurel is a bit flawed by a mistake in her past, but no less likable for it. In fact, I think her remorse and the way she beats herself up over it make her that much more endearing. And Avi – my oh my, Avi! This guy is the total package. He’s funny, smart, and positively swoon-worthy. I love his completely honest, speak your mind attitude, and almost every word he says elicits a reaction. Sometimes a laugh, sometimes a sigh, but always a reaction. I could go on and on, but to do that would give away the whole story. So, I’ll just leave it at Pixie Cut is a wonderful combination of sexy, sweet, and funny, and it is absolutely unputdownable! This is part of the Sublime series, but can technically be read as a standalone. However, the series is packed full of terrific characters and once you meet any of them, you’ll want more.
4.5 Stars
I love this series so much because Julia Wolf creates such great characters. They’re characters that I feel so invested in. I want them to get their HEA. The other thing I like is that there is a deep serious issue that the characters have to work through. Lends authenticity to the story. Like always I find myself laughing when it comes to this series. This book is no different. I laughed from beginning to end. This book was so easy to read. I loved Avi and Laurel. They’re such a perfect fit for one another. Avi is a delicious dirty talker. I really loved his character. I enjoyed learning about his culture. This book has a lot of heart and humor, but also delivers on the heat. Things get quite steamy between Laurel and Avi. I absolutely loved the epilogue. It was the perfect touch. The cherry on top!
I have said this every book so far, but every book keeps getting better. I love all the characters in every book, but this author knows how to write relationships!
Laurel is a character we already met in previous book, as Frannie’s roommate she’s made many appearances. I liked her a lot, so I was very excited she was getting her own book.
Laurel is a lawyer that’s always working, that’s how it seems in the other books anyways and she is starting a new job and brought a brand new house. Something happened at her last job. I related to Laurel, because she’s a geek and not ashamed of it. All of the Marvel references were so much fun in this book!
Avi is a character we’ve never met before, but Laurel meets him when she stops by her friends’ salon and needs a haircut. He has a strong personality and tells us what’s on his mind. He doesn’t think before he speaks. Normally I don’t appreciate characters like that, but Avi is charming. Avi has been through some stuff and it’s clear he’s still working through it.
Avi basically invites himself to live with Laurel and help her fix up the house. Laurel and Avi together is very interesting! I loved the connection that’s instantly there between them. Laurel tries so hard to fight it, but she just can’t ignore it!
Laurel learns that she doesn’t have to try and look important or smart, but that she is those things all on her own. She is finally able to let herself love someone and be loved in return. Laurel finally realizes she deserves to be happy. Avi learns how to trust women again after his previous experiences. He’s a family man and adding Laurel to the mix is the only thing he wants now.
Pixie Cut is filled with a lot of humor, romance and many sweet loving moments. If you’ve read the previous books, we get a glimpse in all of the other characters’ lives and how they’re doing. I think that’s my favorite thing about this series. Even though all of the books can be read seperately, but this is the most I’ve ever read about the previous characters in the following books.
Pixie Cut left me with a smile on my face and feeling very happy! The epilogue in this book was everything I wished for.
Book four in The Sublime series brings us Laurel’s story. It’s hard getting respect when you look like a little pixie, but Laurel has fought and clawed her way through law school and into a big firm. When that world shatters, she finds a new gig and a new life waiting. Laurel’s new coworkers provide the welcome she wasn’t expecting, and are a fun addition to the series.
Avi is the new stylist at Salon 410, recovering from a broken heart and betrayal of his former girlfriend. When he sees Laurel, she is all he can see. He steamrolls into her life and into her heart. He brings her to meet his family, and she is accepted right away. How could he get so lucky?
I loved the way Avi just worked his way into Laurel’s world. As much as she tries to keep him at arm’s length, it just ain’t gonna happen. I hated that Laurel wouldn’t just “rip off the band-aid” until someone ripped it off for her. Will their relationship survive him knowing about the person she was before?
This entire series is just a warm blanket on a cold morning. Sweet, loving, and fun. The characters from the first three books are still with Laurel, and we get to see where life is taking them. The ‘heathen’ and the good Jewish boy weather the rocky shoals and come out stronger. Indeed, not everybody was ‘kung fu fighting’ – some were falling in love.
Who wouldn’t want a guy like Avi? He’s straightforward and honest. He’s also good with his hands and gives a good head of hair. I love that he helps Lauren, who is an awesome as the other women in the series, remember that she is a fierce pixie when her resolve is a little shaken. I love getting to catch up with the other 3 couples, as well.
This book is absolutely adorable, my favorite so far in the series. I couldn’t help love the fun chemistry between Avi and Laurel is great. Avi steams rolls right over Laurel and into her house as her new room mate. Not sure what to expect Laurel find herself attracted to Avi in a way she never expected. But Avi recovering from a broken heart finds himself struggling to over look Laurel’s past mistake in the relationship department. A great love story with such fun amazing characters. This should be on everyone’s TBR list.
Once again Julia Wolf did an amazing job! Her Sublime Series is by far one of my favorites! Laurel and Avi’s story had me hooked from page 1. I could not put it down! Her stories draw you in and are so easy to connect with! I can not wait to read her next book!
Perfection! Loved these two! They are definitely my favorite pair of the series. The whole series was just so sweet, I feel like the author really hit her stride with this group. I loved them all and I really enjoyed that this book delved into the whole ‘cheating’ taboo! NO, THERE IS NO CHEATING BETWEEN THE HERO AND HEROINE, but as adults, we are going to meet people with some type of cheating in their history, its inevitable, and we will likely get involved with people who have cheated as well as some who have been cheated on. The world is an imperfect place. I like that she addressed it. She did not sugar coat it, people make mistakes, they do bad things. Its one thing to avoid topics that are undesirable, its a totally different thing to stick your head in the sand and pretend bad things don’t happen. People grow, mistakes are a part of that. I love how Laurel owned her mistake with grace and dignity and was properly self aware and apologetic. And I loved that Avi was a strong enough man that he could love her through her mistakes. I look forward to more from this author, a new light hearted (but still Kindle melting sexy heat!) romantic comedy or romantic suspense would be fantastic, and I would not mind at all if we got to read Yo’s story one of these days!
First, I feel like I need to apologize to my former number one guy in this series. James, you are now officially in second place as Best Man of the Sublime series. You’re a very close second, but Avi edges you out of the first place spot.
Okay, now that that’s done. This book is absolutely the perfect end to this group of friends and their roads to their HEAs. This author has truly hit her stride with this one. I didn’t want to put it down and was quite irritated that I did, in fact, need some sleep to function.
Laurel made a mistake and it almost cost her her entire career, but she acknowledged that and tried to make her life into something she could be proud of. The day before her “new me” job begins, she goes to her best friend, Frannie (of the James and Frannie duo) for a new look, only to find that stubborn, bossy, HOT Avi wants to do her hair instead. Avi somewhat pushes her into accepting him as her roommate in her new fixer-upper house, and the ride begins.
Avi is untangling himself from a toxic relationship and yet finds himself falling for Laurel from jump. He knows that he needs to be a little cautious with Laurel and her heart, but he also knows that he is the best man for her and that they could have a beautiful forever if she would just let her walls down a little. They make their way from friends to friends with benefits to so much more, and Avi’s directness and refusal to play games with Laurel’s heart make this such a sweet story.
They do hit a big bump in the road, but Laurel womans up and Avi loves the woman she is because he knows her past helped shape her into who she is now, so he stands strong for them both. Their HEA is beautiful and made me wish for more pages so I could stay in their world a little bit longer, but the epilogue shows just how bright the future is for them and the entire group from this series, so I can’t complain. I think we all need to know a man as blunt and unwilling to play games as Avi, and we all need to know a woman as strong and determined to turn her life around as Laurel.
This is the fifth book in this awesome series, and is Laurel and Ari’s story. Laurel has made mistakes in her past, and is working hard to have a better life. When she goes to have a makeover, sexy, hot Ari insists on doing her hair, and somehow convinces her to take him on as a roommate. These two are total opposites, yet so perfect together. This is a beautifully written story which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all readers!
This is my first time reading any of Julia Wolf’s Books but it definitely won’t be the last. I have already ordered several of her other books in the Sublime Series.
This book is proof that opposites attract and sometimes the most unexpected matches are the best. The characters OMG!! Avi is swoon worthy if there ever was one. He is tall, dark, handsome and has an accent making him sexy as hell. He is honest, straight forward, always says what he thinks and a true Alpha in the bedroom. Laurel is blonde and due to her tiny stature and chosen profession (Lawyer) tries to command respect wearing her Power Suits and acting tough but Avi sees right through her act and calls her on her it every chance he gets.
I could not put this book down. I highly recommend it. If this is an example of all her works, Ms. Wolf has become one of my favorite new authors.
