“Fix Her Up ticks all my romance boxes. Not only is it hilarious, it’s sweet, endearing, heartwarming and downright sexy. It’s a recipe for the perfect love story.” – Helena Hunting, New York Times bestselling author of Meet Cute
A steamy, hilarious new romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey, perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Sally Thorne!Georgette Castle’s … Tessa Bailey, perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Sally Thorne!
Georgette Castle’s family runs the best home renovation business in town, but she picked balloons instead of blueprints and they haven’t taken her seriously since. Frankly, she’s over it. Georgie loves planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her own expense. She’s determined to fix herself up into a Woman of the World… whatever that means.
Phase one: new framework for her business (a website from this decade, perhaps?)
Phase two: a gut-reno on her wardrobe (fyi, leggings are pants.)
Phase three: updates to her exterior (do people still wax?)
Phase four: put herself on the market (and stop crushing on Travis Ford!)
Living her best life means facing the truth: Georgie hasn’t been on a date since, well, ever. Nobody’s asking the town clown out for a night of hot sex, that’s for sure. Maybe if people think she’s having a steamy love affair, they’ll acknowledge she’s not just the “little sister” who paints faces for a living. And who better to help demolish that image than the resident sports star and tabloid favorite.
Travis Ford was major league baseball’s hottest rookie when an injury ended his career. Now he’s flipping houses to keep busy and trying to forget his glory days. But he can’t even cross the street without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then there’s Georgie, his best friend’s sister, who is not a kid anymore. When she proposes a wild scheme—that they pretend to date, to shock her family and help him land a new job—he agrees. What’s the harm? It’s not like it’s real. But the girl Travis used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman and there’s nothing fake about how much he wants her…

Not at all what I expected, but so much better! Charming, funny, and grand-slam, out-of-the-park steamy. Fix Her Up has all the bases covered for a great rom-com: heart, heat, humor, and some awesome girl power!
I adore Georgie and Travis, and the whole cast of characters and cannot wait for more. Bailey left me yearning for an epilogue, but I hope we’ll see more of what the future holds for Georgie and Travis in the next book in the series featuring Rosie and Dominic. And I hope Bethany has a book in store for her too!
Hot, ex-baseball player.
Hot, ex-baseball player and grumpy.
HOT. Former BASEBALL PLAYER WITH A DIRTY MOUTH!!!
Did that get your attention? Because let me tell you.. Tessa Bailey holds nothing back when her heroes get down and vocal. Fix Her Up is no exception. Travis and Georgie are opposites and yet they have similarities that bring them together. It’s different kind of chemistry fused in with the best friend’s sister trope.
Fix Her Up was nothing at all what I expected, even though I’ve read and loved everything this author writes. I love that she kept her signature, but at the same time she added a little extra spice that keeps you intrigued and waiting for her. In addition, the supporting characters are so vibrant that you’re already hoping (more like begging) for their own books.
I loved this book and I seriously cannot wait for the next book in line. Fix Her Up is truly the epitome of “Live, Laugh and Love”.
This book!! THIS. BOOK! I adored it in every way possible. It’s no secret that I love this author’s work, and brother’s best friend stories are my favorite trope! This one was especially delightful, and I could not get enough.
Georgie Castle is a bit of an afterthought in her small town on Long Island, and even with her own family. As the youngest sibling, no one ever takes her, or her opinions, seriously. Plus, she’s chosen a job as a children’s party clown, so she’s not really doing much to help her own cause. But, she loves kids, and she’s great at what she does. She’d like to see her company expand, but to do that, she needs people to take her seriously as an adult businesswoman. But first, she has to use her own unique approach to get her big brother Stephen’s best friend, and the guy she’s loved since she was a kid, out of the horrible rut he’s in.
Travis Ford was an amazing professional baseball player who left their small town after making his own dreams come true in the major leagues. He lived the life, and sampled the benefits (including MANY of the female variety), over the 5 years of his career. But, when an injury sidelined him, and his teams started playing hot potato with him, he had to call it quits. Now he’s back in town, and has been drinking himself into a month-long stupor. Until Georgie busts into his apartment, throws leftover Thai food at his head, and tells him his moping time is OVER. So, he talked to his best friend, Stephen, and started working for the Castle family remodeling business. He’s trying to get his life back under control, and that really becomes imperative when his agent calls him with an amazing job offer. He could be the new commentator for the NYC baseball team, but the family friendly network isn’t sure if he’d be a good fit. He needs to show them he’s a changed man. Who better to help him promote a better image than the most wholesome girl he’s ever met?
Georgie and Travis had known each other a long time, but they each thought of each other in completely different ways. She’s loved him forever, with no hope of anything ever happening between them. He’s always seen her as his best friend’s awkward kid sister, who constantly tagged along behind them. They haven’t seen each other in person in years. He walked out of his parents house to go to college, and hasn’t returned or spoken to them since. They were a hot mess and screwed him up badly. Stephen was really his only contact back home. Georgie never really had any interest in leaving, and she’s built her business, and bought a home she plans to remain in. Georgie had an amazing family but she was always the odd girl out. They still see her as a kid, and they don’t respect her as they should.
Georgie, her sister, Bethany, and the wife of an employee of the family business, and a girl they went to school with, Rosie, start a self-empowerment group to keep each other motivated to reach their goals. They agree to start to let go of things and people that hold them back, or hurt them. Their meetings were often hilarious, sometimes poignant, and always entertaining. Rosie and her husband Dom will be the main couple in book 2, and I’m SO EXCITED for their story. Marriage in trouble stories typically bring ALL the angst, and usually aren’t my jam. But, I’m so excited to explore that storyline as a romcom!
There was so much tension between Georgie and Travis, and watching them finally combust was pure magic. This story had all of the author’s typical awesome dirty talk, and Georgie and Travis’ connection was so magnetic. They were both so lovable, and you just wanted to root for them so much. I loved the way Travis realized what was happening to Georgie within her family, and stood up for her, like no one had before. I loved that Georgie wasn’t about to let anyone treat Travis like he was only worthy of entertaining them, due to his past reputation, and that he didn’t deserve respect as a person. They were both fierce in their defense of the other, and it was awesome to watch. There were many moments that had me tearing up, and I loved all the emotions I felt as the story went on.
Travis’ grovel at the end was particularly gratifying, and I loved Georgie’s reaction to it, as well as her siblings’ reactions. I was so emotionally full at the end of the story, that I just burst into tears when it was over. I seriously adored this book, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I’ll just be over here anxiously awaiting book 2.
As I was browsing to see what book I should read next, I stopped o Tessa Bailey’s upcoming book, Fix Her Up. I loved this cover. I am digging on the “cute” and “animated” covers that are coming into the Romance genre lately. Then I read the title and blurb.. Fix Her Up sounded fun and yummy!
As I dug into the story, I realized that it was coming out differently than what I anticipated. I adored Georgie. I didn’t realize how much passion she could have with the line of work she is in. Then when she open a can of whoop on Travis, I was laughing hard. Her personality shined through the whole book. She brought me to a happy place!
Travis is reserved and mysterious. You know he is self loathing, but one he truly see Georgie, his passion gets intense. I got addicted to him as well.
I loved this story and a new fan of Tess Bailey. I am invested with these characters and cannot wait for Rosie’s and Dom’s story next!
Oh this book made me smile, it made me laugh, it made me giggle, and if you enjoy a good rom-com, then this will quickly become your jam. You will never think about Tom Hanks the same again, or men named Paul, especially strippers name Paul. The comedy is strong, unexpected, fresh, and fun
And the romance, the romance made me swoon, made me gasp, made me cry. Because Travis and Georgie need each other, more than they can ever guess, more than they could ever know. Until they do know, and they capture the beautifulness that is them, when it is almost too late. They refuse to give up on the other, and that means not giving up on themselves, because they are perfectly, and wonderfully, intertwined
Perfection!
It’s been a minute since my last Bailey book. This one was really cute and fun. Georgie with her witty banter and Travis with his dirty talking self. It was nice to see Georgie trying to break free from the little kid mold her family has her in. Being the youngest and with her super cool profession as a clown, not a lot of people take her seriously. Travis has a not so great rep from his baseball days and he has a lot of resentment about his past. Things get a little dicey her and there but overall, I really enjoyed reading it.
Georgette Castle is the baby of the family–the only way to get attention is being funny, the clown of the family and town. Literally. Georgie is a professional clown due to that no one takes her seriously especially her family. To top it off her childhood crush returned to town. Georgie is at her wits end. She needs to be taken seriously.
Travis Ford returns home a broken man after being traded from team to team after his shoulder injury. He feels like a complete failure, not even his World Series ring can make him feel better. His best friend’s baby sister little Georgie waltzes into his room–throws food at him. The sprite yells at him for the way he’s been moping, wallowing and the way he’s been living the past few months. Georgie doesn’t leave him alone after that either. She brings him leftovers and helps him clean his apartment. What does he do in return? He fantasizes about her. He can’t treat her like he does other women. 1) she’s Stephen’s baby sister, 2) Georgie is different, 3) she’s a virgin.
If he wants the broadcast job, he has to show he’s as wholesome and family oriented as the network. Georgie wants everyone to look at her differently and to be taken seriously. They make a deal–fake date until Travis gets the job. Too bad they both develop feelings for each other along the way. It doesn’t help that both Stephen and Travis’s dad further complicate their relationship.
Perfection!

Fix Her Up is now hands down my favorite Tessa Bailey book! The chemistry and emotion between Georgie and Travis explodes off the page, along with some ice cream and lo-mein, and absolutely enthralls.
She’s a party clown who wants to be taken seriously and he’s a baseball phenom who’s down on his luck and together they support each other in a way that is wonderfully fulfilling and satisfying. Add in her crazy family and the citizens of Port Jeff and Fix Her Up becomes everything I love about a small town contemporary romance.
I am beyond in need of Dominic and Rosie’s story and more of Port Jeff and the Just Us League!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
Wow, I love this one! Travis was one grouchy bear from the first moment we met him and it was fun to watch his interactions with Georgette. This one was just cute and Tessa know how to write her dirty talking hero’s. Steam was off the charts. I’m already adding book 2 to my tbr!
I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Fix Her Up was fun, sweet, and sexy. Loved the characters and their witty banter. I highly recommend this book to fans of romantic comedy.
Travis and Georgie are an unbeatable team together. It just took a while for Travis to get there! Fake boy friend trope is not my favorite, but I really enjoyed this. I loved how Travis slowly became aware of how fabulous Georgie was and became her champion. Stephen was a bit of a jerk, but he did mange to see reason in the end. And I loved the set up for the future books. But I think my favorite bit was that Travis haD every intention of making it real. Tessa Bailey did not take the easy route for the conflict; where he would just walk away. Plus, her dirty talking bad boys are THE BEST!!!
Okay, where to start, where to start…
Georgie. Let’s start there. She is nothing less than a fiery, adorable ball of goodness. She’s a clown. Like, legit, a clown for children’s party. Problem is, most everyone in her life only sees her as that. While she’s still young, in her early 20s, she’s ready to be seen as a grown up.
I LOVED Georgie. She’s five stars in my book! She was the perfect mix of vulnerability, wittiness, and cuteness.
Georgie has spent most of her life in love with her brothers best friend, Travis. Despite his becoming a MLB player and a ‘player’ in the other sense of the word- her adoration for him has not dimmed. Now, Travis is back in town, his career is over and he’s not in the best head space. Georgie is determined to help him see that he still has value and worth. See? She’s all goodness.
They strike a deal to have a fake relationship. Both to help his image for a future job prospect but also in the hopes that it will show her family that she’s not a child any longer.
All the things you expect from ‘brother’s best friend’ and ‘fake romance’ tropes now ensue. I won’t even go into it, because you have probably already guessed how most of this plays out. Not to call Fix Her Up predictable, but…
What threw me the most is this: Travis is a DIRTY talker. Don’t get me wrong, I love a dirty talking hero. However, it felt like overkill and a little out of place. It needed to be toned down for me. The sex was hot but it didn’t balance with the light heartedness of the rest of the story.
Something that I’ve seen mentioned by others is that there is a good chunk of misogyny in this story and that Georgie’s got too much of hero worshiping, etc.. While I agree that misogyny does play in to this plot, I don’t think I saw it the way some other reviewers did. I didn’t see this as a story where the women involved needed to ‘take down the man’. I saw it as a story where women were learning who they are, what they wanted and were seeing if the men in their lives could catch up.
I’m happy to say Travis eventually did. I didn’t see Georgie’s unconditional love for him as pathetic, I saw it as pure. You love through the flaws and you hope your love encourages them to learn to love the same way.
But hey, we all read differently, and that’s okay. I found Fix Her Up to be a charming little nugget, maybe you will too
