A very sweet story with a happily ever after.
Enjoyed the story line but could have left off the F word. Real turn off.
FIX HER UP is a standalone read with a HEA. Noah is a 38 year old bachelor that owns his own construction company with his partner. He specializes in restoring old homes. His sister Abby is a real estate agent and has just sold a house to one Finley, a young woman living in Texas. The house was a steal but was sold as is and she knows the house is a dump. She suggest her brother go by, see the house, and then offer his contractor expertise. He goes and meets Finley and his life is changed forever.
Finley divorced her husband of 10 years when he cheated. She felt she needed a new life so she went on line, found a house that talked to her, packed her trailer and drove to New Hampshire. She had been sick with a cold for the past week so she was not in good shape when she arrived to her new home. she has planned to do the remodel herself with a little help from youTube. Little does she know that she is in way over her head and doesn’t have a clue.
This is a fun and entertaining romance. You can’t help but like all these characters. Since this is Book 1 and there are a lot of siblings, it will be a great series. It is a good read, I loved the story. It is modern day, two people finding their way to a HEA. There is no bad guy, no drugs, violence, etc. Just a few laughs along the way as these two get to know each other and finally act on the feelings that have been growing. There are some sexy, steamy scenes if that is a problem for you. I loved ever minute of this book and had a hard time putting it down. Noah is a great hero.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/21/18
I enjoy books that have a subplot of rehabbing a house. These characters were great.
Very good
I enjoyed the writing style. Good character development.
Fix Her Up is another well written and captivating story from Carey Heywood. She mixes the perfect blend of humor, sass, swooning, and hotness, making Fix Her Up one book you won’t want to put down!
Enjoyable with more than an interesting story line
Favorite Quotes:
I was expecting her husband to be there, but his presence may have interrupted her attempts to put her hand in my pants. I might not have many rules when it comes to the women I see, but not being married is one of them.
He grins at me before lifting the hem of his shirt to wipe my snot from his face. I sneezed all over the hot guy buying condoms at the convenience store.
I try not to look at him anymore but it’s impossible. He’s too attractive, it would be a disservice not to.
I’m more excited than I care to admit that I’m going to get to see Noah’s place. Especially since this visit was a spur of the moment one. When you know company is coming, you have time to clean up and hide your vibrators, or whatever stuff a guy would hide.
‘We need to talk about what just happened.’ I hold my head in my hand. ‘Like a performance evaluation? I say we both earned a ten out of ten… Need a replay?’
To put it mildly, he’s seriously hot. As in, off the grid if zombies took over the world you’d want him in your bed – er, by your side – kind of hot.
My Review:
The first thing I noticed about this adorable book was the clever humor, a few paragraphs in and I was already comfortable, engaged, and invested. Written in my favorite dual POV, the plot was relevant, easy to follow, and pleasantly entertaining. The storyline was based in New Hampshire, which is one of the few states I have never visited, and provided a sweet and slow-burn love story between adorable and highly likable characters who tugged at my heartstrings and held my attention. This was my virgin voyage with Ms. Heywood but I enjoyed sailing with her so much, I plan to make her a habit.
Fix Her Up by Carey Heywood is the first book in her series, The Fix . Told in dual POV, this is a well crafted romantic tale of a woman starting over after her divorce and a man who fell for her the moment they met. It is NOT an insta-love romance, it is a slow and wonderful build between Finley and Noah.
Finley is recently divorced, sold her house and found a fixer-upper in New Hampshire to work on. Moving away from Texas is bittersweet. She is sad to leave her family but relieved to get a chance to start fresh.
Noah has a construction business and when his realtor sister insists he stop by the house she just sold and check out a few tings for the new owner he doesn’t expect the woman to be the lady from the pharmacy that nearly hit his truck on her way i the parking lot. Nor does he expect his attraction to be so strong.
Finley is surprised by Noah’s insistence to help with her renovations and while she tries to say no, this is one time she is okay with him not taking it for an answer. The friendship between these two characters builds throughout the story, providing Finley with a bond she hd never experienced before and allowing Noah to slowly make his way through all the walls she built around her heart.
Well paced and well written, I absolutely enjoyed this story and cannot wait for more of these Thompson siblings. Up next: Fix Me Not and Fix My Fall. Enjoy!
