Every perfect rom-com has a twist that leads the heroine to her happily ever after.
Me? Somehow, in any room full of Prince Charmings, I always manage to find the one frog.
So this time, I’ve found my own twist. Four of my friends will each set me up. Four first dates. Four chances at my own happily-ever-after.
My brother’s best friend even offered to watch my baby while I’m out finding true … offered to watch my baby while I’m out finding true love.
Only Maddox has seriously grown up since I saw him last. The guy next door now looks more like the guy on a magazine cover. He’s inked and sexy. Muscular. Utterly irresistible. And… big. Oh, and did I mention he’s now my roommate?
Surely having a brother’s-friend-with-benefits won’t hurt my search for Mr. Right.
Especially if he’s my fifth first date…

I absolutely loved Maddox! He was so sweet and loved Savannah so much. Savannah is struggling to get through the day with a baby and work. When Maddox offers to help her out she jumps at the chance. Only problem is that he is no longer her brothers nerdy best friend. He is gorgeous, tattooed and amazing with her son. When she realizes that she hasn’t had a date in over a year, she challenges her friends to find dates for her. Standing on sidelines, Maddox is not thrilled with this idea. He needs to find a way to make Savannah see him as man and not a little kid. I really loved this entire book. Everything was kept at a good pace with lots of funny, sexy scenes. Really hoping that the other friends get their own books!

What can I say? I absolutely loved everything about Savannah and Maddox! Beautiful friends to lovers story, the perfect Rom-Com. I love a good story that pulls on your heart strings and makes you feel every emotion. Maddox is every girl’s fantasy and loves everything about Savannah. I was crying by the end of their story. You would be a fool not to one click this excellent read! As a side note; I loved how Leah and Grant from Weekend Wife had an appearance. Cannot wait till Erin’s next great read!

Five First Dates is a Rom-Com with a Brother’s Best Friend Troupe. It’s a stand alone with great characters, a real life plot, well written with no cheating and a HEA.
Maddox has had a crush on Savannah since he was 14. She was the hot older girl and he was the classic nerd. Now, 10 years later he goes to New York to do a tattoo reality show and be a nanny to Savannah’s infant son. Since he will be living with her he can show her he is no longer a nerd but a reliable, dependable man that loves kids. Hopefully, it will be just as easy for her to fall for him.
Savannah has been burned one to many times by men and the last man got her pregnant and then left her. She is looking for a real life rom-com and falls in love to quickly. Her friends decide to set her up with someone of their choosing. After her 2nd set up date goes bust, she comes home and admits to Maddox that she just wants sex but with someone she can trust. So they become friends with benefits and as things heat up she doesn’t know if she can trust her feelings to be the truth. Will Maddox be her dream or just another fantasy?
This brother’s best friend/single mom romance between Savannah and Maddox was a great story that made me laugh out loud, feel my heart break, get swoony feels, and sense the heat.
I love author Erin McCarthy’s writing style. She makes her storylines fun and enjoyable. This was a fun, cute story that shows a lot of a single mom lifestyle, and getting back into the dating scene…while trying to ignore the hotness of her temporary roommate and her brother Steve’s best friend.
Five First Dates is a standalone, but you are introduced to Savannah in a previous book. I really enjoyed this quick read and give it 4.25 stars!
I loved the blurb for Five First Dates by Erin McCarthy when I first read it. Have your friends set you up on four first dates? Why not? Then first date number 5, well that happens to be her brother’s best friend. What can go wrong?
Maddox has had feeling for his best friend’s sister for a long time, but Savanah seems to always pick the wrong guys. When she realizes she may need help, she asks her friends to help her. But Maddox wants her to see him, truly see him. I loved Maddox so much. He was so caring and sweet. Sometimes two people just fit. I loved the characters so much. The story was fun, flirty and charming.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
This book was so cute!! Maddox has been in love with Savannah since he was a teenager, now he has a chance to get her to fall in love with him & he takes it. Savannah is a single mom, who falls in love too quickly. She gives Maddox a place to stay while he’s in NY for tattooing.
These two just made my heart smile! They both want to find their HEA but are unsure how to go about it. I loved how Maddox just knew she was his one and tried to show her that he’s in it for the long haul.
I can’t wait for Isla & Felicia’s books!!
5 Star Review of Five First Dates by Erin McCarthy
Erin McCarthy is a new author to me and I have no idea why that is. Five First Dates was an entertaining read that drew me in and get me riveted from the first to the last chapter. A friends to lovers story with heart and soul, with secondary characters that added to my reading pleasure.
Offering to help look after Savannah’s baby while she goes on the dates arranged for her by her four friends, Maddox was swoon worthy. Not only does he babysit for her, she suddenly finds herself with a new roommate.
I fell hard and fast for Maddox, there is something about him that ticked all the boxes. Add in baby Sully and I was a goner.
I loved how the relationship was built from friendship, it added an additional layer.
This was a romantic, steamy, funny book and is a little gem which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Savannah believes in romance and hopes one day her Prince will come, even after being dumped by the father of her 6 month old child. She is working hard at being a mother and looks forward to the day she can share that love and responsibility with someone else. Meanwhile her brothers best friend Maddox has come to town and he will be helping her out while filming a new show that he prays will be picked up. Maddox isn’t the geeky boy she remembers but a handsome tattooed male with a body to melt for. Savannah decides it is time for her to get back out there and asks her friends to set her up. Each date seems to be worse than the next and having Maddox around has her looking at him in a new light. Follow along as these two dance around each others feelings, both hoping that romance will win out in the end.
Adorable, smexy, hot tattooed man, and one cooing baby that will melt your heart. First Five Dates has it all! Every ovary bursting moment that I read in one sitting!
Maddox has had a crush on Savannah since he was a teenage boy. He’s best friends with her brother, so it was a bit awkward to ever say much about that crush when he was a gangly teen, but it’s now years later and Savannah is a single mother which only has intensified his crush into a deep lust now that they are adults. Savannah has graciously opened up her home to him, allowing him to stay there while he films for his new job, but Maddox also has a secondary plan to win her over. He plans to finally show her that he is no longer just a skinny boy who is best friends with her brother, he is now a man who wants to take care of her and her son.
Savannah has the worst taste in men. Take being a single mother with a six month old son. When her last relationship ran out when she informed him she was pregnant it only goes to prove that her taste in men haven’t improved in all the years she has dated. When her brothers best friend, Maddox, agreed to move in and help her with her son, Sully she was thankful beyond belief. What she didn’t know was that Maddox is now hot AF. She hadn’t seen in him in person in several years and the tattooed, ripped man who shows up on her doorstep is not the same gangly boy she last saw years ago. Her hormones may not be in charge with him staying under her roof.
Savannah enlists her friends to help her set up blind dates to get back on the dating scene. This begins the first of four dates. When Maddox gets wind of her plan he wants in and becomes the fifth to join in on this plan. While living under Savannah’s roof the two of them not only get to know one another better, but they also “get to know one another better” (wink, wink). Savannah and Maddox have a natural chemistry and everytime they are together it is wicked hot.
Maddox is the absolute best. As a manny he is glorious. He has a natural instinct with Sully which is ovary melting, especially when I imagine him covered in his tattoos. Totally yummy.
A fun, smexy read that is exactly what is needed during this stressful time.
5 stars!! I love all of Erin’s books she was the one to change my mind about romance and she still makes me laugh out loud swoon and want more. I feel like her books are never long enough for me I can’t get enough of her stores!!
Maddox needs a place to crash and where else would he go but his best friends sisters place. It doesn’t hurt that he’s had a mad crush on her since they were young and he also might even have a chance with Savanna.
Savanna new mother and single needs some help and love. When Maddy asked to stay with her in exchange he will be a nanny she jumps on that offer. She needs some help bad and maybe she will even be able to go on a date or two. Savannah didn’t expect little Maddy to be sexy Maddox. He may be younger but he grew into that body and those tattoos…
Maddox will do whatever it takes to show Savannah he wants to be with her. He wants to love her and have a relationship with her. Will he be able to change her mind?
When Savannah gets this crazy idea to have her four best friends each pick a date Maddox asked to pick the fifth. Will she find love in one of these dates? Who would Maddox pick?
When it turns a little complicated and the lines of friendship start to blur to more than just friends what will she do?
This book was so good and I love seeing Leah again! This new series is just fantastic. I’m so excited for book 3 who will find love next and how??
I will start my review by saying that I am an Erin McCarthy fan. I have read and own most of her books. Five First Dates was a very fun, sweet with just a touch of spice rom com. We were first introduced to Savannah in Weekend Wife. It is not necessary to read it before however it was a great book and shouldn’t be missed. Savannah is the single mom of a 6 month old son, Sully and her younger brother’s best friend has offered to help out. Savannah hasn’t seen Maddox in 5 years and when she opens the door to this tattooed, buff hottie she cannot believe her eyes! Maddox has had a crush on Savannah ever since he noticed girls but she was older and unattainable in his mind. Now he is 23 and has an opportunity to show his tattooing skills on a reality TV show filming in NYC and staying with Savannah is his chance to show her that he is the man of her dreams. Savannah has had horrible luck with men in the past and is not going to let her attraction to Maddox sideline her plan to find the right man for her and her son. She wants her friends to set her up on a date with 5 different men and hopefully she’ll find her match. Maddox is determined to be that man so let the shenanigans begin! I really enjoyed this fun, light, no angst rom com. It was told from dual POV and is a definite must read for all Erin McCarthy fans!
3.75 stars
I have a thing for surprise pregnancies and single parent romances. This was the latter.
I really liked the Hero in this one. He was younger than the heroine. Not sure her age was mentioned, but he’s 24. He was adorable with the baby. He was NOT a manwhore/player He DID do relationships. He was mature. He knew what he wanted and went for it.
This ties in with Weekend Wife. This is not labeled as a series, but it looks like each of the girls will get a book. This can be read as a stand-alone.
Five First Dates by Erin McCarthy is a fun New Adult rom-com that is perfect for a few laughs and a happily ever after.
Savannah hasn’t been on a date in months so her friends are each setting her up on date to get her started, but none of them are working out. She thinks the reason that it isn’t working is because she has the perfect man at home who is off limits since he is not only her son’s nanny, but her brother’s best friend.
Maddox has loved Savannah for years and now living with her and caring for her son he is going to make sure she sees the man he has become and that he is no longer that young kid she used to let tag along.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
This was an ok read. I really liked the concept of the story. Single mom, brother’s best friend moving to help, brother’s best friend turns out to be a hot, muscled tattooed man, you get my drift. Maddox is lovable, he helps with the baby (hotness right there) and he’s been in love with Savannah forever. Savannah is a frazzled mom who just wants to find her one true love.
There were some really great moments, but there were also a lot of parts where I was like, WTH did I just read. I just didn’t connect with this story. It sometimes was all over the place and I just didn’t like Savannah’s friends. I just didn’t see why she was friends with them.
I read this because my reading group has a monthly challenge and this ticked the box of single mom.
Mad is a nerd turned smoking hawt tattooed good guy.
Savannah a single mom who remembers the nerd but is overwhelmed by the new Mad.
This story grabbed me and didn’t let go! A fabulous read with lots of fun times!
Savannah is a hopeless romantic (and single mom) with horrible taste in men. In desperation, she’s decided to trust her four best friends and her brother’s best friend to set her up on five first dates. One of them has to be Mr. Right, right?
The only problem is her brother’s best friend, Maddox, is looking like Mr. Right: washboard abs, tatted all over, sensitive, funny, and caring. He’s even great with her six-month-old son. What’s not to love?
Savannah’s dates are straight out of your favorite romantic comedy….and the sex is straight out of you steamiest novel. You can’t miss with this delicious tale!

3.5 stars
This was a cute story and an easy read. There is plenty of steam between new mom Savannah and her little brother’s best friend Maddox. They are only a couple of years apart and the age difference seemed a little exaggerated to begin with for me. Both characters are likable in this dual POV story. The baby is super cute and some of Savannah’s new mom issues are very easy to relate to.
This book was so cute and let me tell you that I am not minding this quarantine right now because it is giving me a chance on reading some great books and this my friends was one of them. We meet Maddox and Savannah who from pretty much the beginning you are rooting for and hoping that they get there chance. So we have Maddox who used to have a crush on his best friends sister, and now is helping her out as her mannie and sleeping on the couch so win win for both of them. So Savannah does not know how to pick them so her friends are going to help her with that and Maddox is not going to step back and not get his chance..Seriously cute book, and my only regret is that I didn’t know that this cast of characters were in a previous book, however I plan on remedying that. Enjoy!
rcvd and ARC at no cost to author…voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
One of the best love stories ever. I love the characters, the story and the romance. Terrific writing
Was completely charmed by this engaging journey filled with fun and sexy charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and emotionally thrilling passion. Was a great way to spend my evening relaxing in my comfy chair and escaping into this heartwarming journey.
