Every perfect rom-com has a twist that leads the heroine to her happily ever after.
Me? Somehow, in any room full of Prince Charmings, I always manage to find the one frog.
So this time, I’ve found my own twist. Four of my friends will each set me up. Four first dates. Four chances at my own happily-ever-after.
My brother’s best friend even offered to watch my baby while I’m out finding true … offered to watch my baby while I’m out finding true love.
Only Maddox has seriously grown up since I saw him last. The guy next door now looks more like the guy on a magazine cover. He’s inked and sexy. Muscular. Utterly irresistible. And… big. Oh, and did I mention he’s now my roommate?
Surely having a brother’s-friend-with-benefits won’t hurt my search for Mr. Right.
Especially if he’s my fifth first date…

If you are looking for a cute falling for brother’s best friend romance and a single mom read then look no further the Five First Dates. You will find Maddox to be total swoon worthy. There is nothing sexier then a tattooed man caring for a baby. I love Maddox and the way he goes after Savannah. He always known who he wanted and watching Maddox get closer to Savannah is so much fun to watch. I love Savannah and all her friends. They will make you giggle for sure when it comes to setting Savannah up on dates. Savannah is super sweet and trying to do the best she can being a single mom. She didn’t see Maddox coming at all. You will love the banter between Maddox and Savannah. They have this chemistry that is hot and so sweet. I loved every moment of this one.
One of my favorite Romance Troupe’s is the brother’s best friend. I think there is a lot of diversity in this type because you sometimes have the brother that is happy but most of the time you get the brother who does not want you touching their sister. Five First Dates was about Savannah and Maddox. Savannah is a single mother to a newborn who is unlucky when it comes to relationships. She is the girl who always lets her heart lead her brain and falls for the idea of being in love with someone over the actual act. The father of her son did not want a child and left Savannah to do all of the hard work by herself which I have to say the author did a great job of portraying. Enter Maddox, Savannah’s younger brother’s best friend. He no longer looks like the boy she remembered. He is all tatted up and is needing a place to stay in New York while he films a new reality tv show around a tattoo shop that just so happens to have a young cast. Maddox is hiding a huge secret though, he has always been in love with Savannah and he is hoping now is the time to show her who Maddox the man is instead of Maddox the boy.
Savannah has a great group of friends, who we got to meet in the book Weekend Wife. She agrees to let all four of them select a man for her to date. She hopes that with her friends picking out the dates for her that she can avoid her bad luck of dating losers. You might now be asking yourself but the book is called Five First Dates and you only said four dates, Maddox decides to get in on the fun and says he gets to pick her fifth first date, which unknown to Savannah he wants to be himself. The question then becomes will she make it to her fifth first date or will she fall in love with one of the guys her friends pick out?
I loved this book overall. The premise really drew me in and had me hooked from the very beginning. I could relate to Savannah because I was in a similar situation in my life where i got pregnant and ended up a single mom. I loved the build up between Savannah and Maddox ,while I did think that there was a good amount of slow burn it seemed like we went from 0 – 60 in a matter of pages. This would have been a 5 star read for me if we would have seen more of that building and them taking it slower. Also you do not have to read Weekend Wife before reading Five First Dates. Both books stand on their own.
Thank you to Social Butterfly PR and Erin McCarthy for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I sincerely hope that we get books on Felicia, Dakota and Isla in the future.
I super enjoy this book, it’s fun, sweet and super steamy and hot tattoed man that super awesome with baby, I’m a sucker for men with baby, so yeah I’m so in love. Lots of laughters and swoon moments that got me ooohs and aaahhs and definitely put a big smile on my face. The friendship, the love, the sweetness, yup it’s an easy-to-read and easy-to-love book, kinda predictable and I don’t know what’s the deal with Savannah’s brother (annoying AF), but still I’m a happy girl from the beginning ’till the end.
If you’re looking for easy-to-read rom-com book, this is the book.
Maddox has been in love with his best friend’s older sister for what seems like forever. He’s not the shy nerdy comic book-reading guy he used to be anymore, and now that he’s rooming with Savannah while he’s filming a reality show, he plans on showing her just how much of a man is now. Only he doesn’t just want to be with her in that kind of way, he wants everything from her – her heart along with her body.
Savannah cannot believe the change in her little brother’s best friend. No longer awkward and skinny, he’s now gorgeous, bulked up and tatted. Still unbelievably sweet, though, and so great with her new baby. Yep, baby. Sully’s father isn’t in the picture, though, and Maddy is so great with him. Thank God, because he’s the one who’s going to watch Sully while she’s on the 4 dates her friends set her up on. She needs help in her love life because she’s an unrealistically romantic woman who falls for the wrong guy while looking for Prince Charming. Will Maddox be her last first date or is she too scared to let him in and give him the chance to hurt her?
Brother’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes, especially when the two leads in question are so unbelievably sweet together like Maddox and Savannah are. Their story is slightly slow burn with snappy, witty dialogue and serious, serious chemistry. Like Weekend Wife, Five First Dates is sexy and fun and I can’t wait for more of this circle of friends that Erin McCarthy has created.
What could be better than a new book from Erin McCarthy, especially during the great Covid- 19 quarantine? Savannah and Maddoxx are the stars of this rom com and what a good one it is. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of Five First Dates and let me just say that Erin McCarthy never disappoints. This new series reminds me of her earlier work and that delights me to so much. If you enjoyed That’s Amour, The Pregnancy Test or Heiress for Hire, you will enjoy this book.
Adult rom-com in written form. Lovable characters, laugh out loud at times mixed with serious moments. The problems of the nursing mom were just too true I could really relate. The description of the book was plenty to go on, it just doesn’t explain how much you’re going to like the various characters in this story. Looking forward to the next book already.
3.5 Stars
This is the first book that I have read by Erin and I thought that it was cute and enjoyed the writing. Savannah is a newly single mother trying to find the balance in life. She is looking for her real life romantic comedy but has the tendency to pick the wrong guys. I loved how Savannah was determined to do what is best for her son. She has a great group of friends and a job that offers her the flexibility she needs. Then there is Maddox, nerd turned tattooed eye candy. I found him to be so sweet and kind. I love his big heart. I love the history between Savannah and Maddox. I also enjoyed how patient Maddox was with Savannah. If you are looking for a friends to lovers/brother’s best friend with humor, romance, and feel good vibe this is the book.
