This is the first book in a series. I was totally swept up in the story and I couldn’t put it down. I loved Cap and Leah’s journey so much and how they fought to be together. All my emotions were on full alert. While reading this story, keep an open mind. Wish I could have given it more than five stars, it was so beautifully written. I would recommend this book for everyone to read.
INCREDIBLE!!! I love Phoebe’s work and Fisher Of Men is no exception. It’s a beautifully written romance with amazing characters. The storyline piques your interest in the very beginning and has you devouring the pages to learn what happens next. I didn’t put this one down. I’m really excited to read the other books in this series. Phoebe is just amazing.
FIVE STARS
I am going to start this review with a disclaimer. This book should not be read by anyone who is a prude, who is overly sensitive about sex, or anyone under the age of 18. This is for mature readers only and not meant to be read by anyone who is not mature enough to handle adult situations especially of a sexual nature.
With that being said I ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY enjoyed this book. Phoebe Alexander has a way of putting words onto paper that make you feel like you are a true part of the story. The main characters are totally relatable and understandable. I can see myself in Leah, her desire to experiment yet her wariness in trying new things for fear of disappointing her parents. Her lack of trusting Cap due to issues she has had with previous relationships. It is my life in a book, except I haven’t become brave enough to venture out into the world and open myself up.
A shocking part of this book that really caught me off guard is that each chapter is started with a Bible verse that is completely relevant to what is going on in that chapter. The religious background of Leah and the way it is hindering her from her happiness and making that choice to be with Cap without limits. I admire Leah and her ability to just go for it.
Cap is a business owner and a man that knows what he enjoys. He has declared that if he were to meet the right woman and she required it, then he would give up his “lifestyle”. Leah is a Customer Service Expert and manages a hotel that just happens to be hosting the group that Cap is part of.
This story makes a few excellent points that should be priority in ALL relationships, not just relationships in this “lifestyle”. The main things you should do in ALL relationships is TRUST, LOVE, and COMMUNICATE. You cannot make a relationship work without any of these.
This is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one. This is not my first read by Phoebe Alexander, but it is my first book about swingers and I am truly intrigued, if I could find my Cap, then I might be persuaded.
Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series. I have had this book in my TBR list and on my Kindle for quite a while. Finally got a chance to sit down to read it. My old regret is I hadn’t read it sooner.
The story between Leah and Cap was a lot hotter and more detailed than I was expecting and I don’t think I would have enjoyed the book as much if she had written any other way.
Leah has quite a good head on her shoulders for someone as young as she is. Definitely an older soul in a young body. And Cap sounds like a silver fox. He’s older and wiser than Leah, especially with his experience in the Swinging world.
I have read a lot of different sub groups in the Romance world, but I do believe this was my first foray into the swinging world. This book is not for one who gets uncomfortable during intimate or explicit scenes but I felt that the book was so well written that you can look past it.
Fisher Of Men by Phoebe Alexander is book 1 of the Eastern Shore Swingers Series and where it all begins. Leah Miller was the Guest Experience Strategist at The Pearl. She pretty much ran the show. One night she had to fill in for as a bartender for a party in a private room that was booked. Life as she knew it changed on that day when she met Captain Chris Sheldon also know as Cap to all his friends. Leah only spoke with him for a little bit but, couldn’t seem to get him off her mind. She wasn’t exactly sure what kind of party she was bartending for. All she knew was the party was booked under Casey’s Group.
Leah and Cap end up seeing a lot of each other since Casey’s Group ended up booking a few parties at the Pearl. Also, Leah and Cap both had dogs they liked to walk on the beach. One day while Leah was there she ran into Cap. He was quite persistent. She finally agreed to go on a date with him. She was the furthest thing from a swinger though. Her dad was part of the church and Leah was expected to go to church every week and hopefully meet a nice young man. Not a swinger who had children only a few years younger then her.
This book had a lot
of back and forth. Leah was falling for Cap but, she couldn’t picture herself going to swinger parties. She ended up going to party on New Year’s Eve where things had changed.
Can a sweet innocent vanilla woman actually
be able to win the heart of man who is a bit older and much more experienced?
I thought this book was well written. I didn’t really care much for the character of Leah. I understand she was in a position she never thought she would be in but, she flipped back and forth so much. Cannot wait to read the next book!
Fisher of Men is the first novel in the Eastern Shore Swingers series by Phoebe Alexander. This is my first novel by the author.
Leah Miller is a 27 year woman with a religious background who moves to Ocean City, Maryland. She becomes the general manager of The Pearl and while working a private party she meets Captain Chris Sheldon. While there is attraction there, Leah isn’t sure about him especially when she finds out that the private party is a swinger party.
Will two people find a way to compromise to have a happy ever after? Or will the lifestyle break them apart?
I will admit the topic and lifestyle made me shy away from the book at first. I love romance novels but this is generally something I wouldn’t pick up at. But after seeing it numerous times, I decided to finally give a try.
I was iffy about it but I eventually started to enjoy. Leah was a character I related cause her reactions to situations would have probably been my reactions especially considering her religious background.
I enjoyed Cap’s character. I felt he had interesting backstory and I loved the other characters and how close they all were.
I loved the relationship was slow burn between Cap and Leah while she wrapped her head around everything and not only about her own feelings for Cap but her own feelings about the things she had taught and what was right and what was wrong.
After how the first book ended, makes me excited for the next book.
Fisher of Men, Eastern Shore Swingers Book One, is written by Phoebe Alexander, this isn’t the first time I read a book by the author and will state this start to this series was an amazing read. The story follows Leah, who works at a hotel, The Pearl, and was brought up by her Christian parents whom they wanted her to follow them with speaking the word of Christian faith. Once given a scholarship and the need to see more of the world she took a leap and decided to study at Cornell and take the job at the Pearl. Leah meets Cap, Chris at an event at the hotel, and soon they begin dating. Her faith is torn when she learns that the party he attended was a swinger’s party, and it’s a lifestyle that Cap leads. She learns that behind the lovely Ocean city lies a swinger’s secret club, her world, her heart, and her faith is tested.
I could NOT put this book down, the ups and down truly held me into this book. I could close my eyes and see Leah and Cap, I could close my eyes and feel the emotions, and I could feel like I was right there in Ocean City. The attention too much emotions and details was spot on. I really felt like I was a part of Caps and Leah’s little world. I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a good erotic romance.
Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers book 1) by Phoebe Alexander
5 stars
What a great book to start off this series!
Leah is introduced to a whole new lifestyle in Ocean City, Maryland, by a man she couldn’t help but falling in love with. Cap’s job as a charter fishing captain causes Leah concerns and he starts to question his career.
As her eyes are opened wide by Cap and The Factory, how does the war within battle between her faith and what she finds to enjoy?
I really loved this book, you could just feel the emotions with every page. This author never disappoints!
WOW!! What can I say about Fisher Of Men by Phoebe Alexander? Fisher Of Men is the first book in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series and what an opener to the series it is. This book is on fire it’s that hot.
Fisher Of Men tells us the story of Chris ‘Cap’ Sheldon and Leah Miller. Chris and Leah couldn’t be any more different it they tried. 27 year old Leah had a very strict religious upbringing in Nebraska, being the daughter of a minister. She has very firm religious beliefs. She is now working as a manager in an upscale hotel ‘The Pearl’ in Ocean City. It is while working at a charity event in the hotel that she first meets Cap. Cap is a 42 year old, divorcee who runs a fishing business. Leah discovers that Cap and all those attending the charity event are swingers. As much as she’s attracted to Cap (who can’t love his amazing blue eyes and dimples?) swinging goes against everything that she believes in.
What follows is a beautifully written story of Leah’s sexual awakening. We can really see her struggles with her religious beliefs and by how turned on and exhilarated she feels by watching and participating in sexual encounters with several people at a time. It also shows us how 2 people with such different backgrounds and beliefs can overcome everything to find true love.
I must add that this book is definitely for a mature audience due to the sexually explicit content. I have to say that the sex scenes in this book were hotter than anything I’ve ever read.
This isn’t the first time I’ve read work by this author and I have to say that I’m becoming a huge fan. If this first book in the series is anything to go by then I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I already have books 2 & 3 waiting on my kindle for me to dive into.
I give Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander, 5 stars.
Leah Miller was born and raised in a very religious family. Her parents raised her to finish school, get married, and have children, all while keeping in her faith. But she doesn’t feel like this is her. So she sets out to be her own woman. Then she ends up in Ocean City, Maryland and meets a man that I changes the way she sees things. He is very open with his sexuality. This is new to her, and exciting at the same time. But what about her faith? This is the opposite from everything she was ever taught? Is it okay be free and open or is it a sin?
This is the beginning of the Eastern Shore Swingers series, so this story has lots of sex and multiple people having sex. Although Leah is very religious, this is not a book about religion. Okay, now that the formalities are over, I will give you my opinion. I loved it!!! Yes, there are a lot of hot and steamy scenes, but that is not what makes this book. It’s the characters that really make it!! Leah and Chris are so much fun. Yes, they struggle, and they each have issues. But they are so real and know how to love and have fun too. The things that happen in this book will keep you reading until the very end. I thought this book was so enjoyable and entertaining, I cannot wait to read more in this series!
I have to be honest- it took me a minute in the beginning to warm up to Leah and Cap. Leah just seemed a little stand offish and prim, and Cap kind of a player who thinks he knows better than her. I’m glad I stuck with them, though. They kind of grew on me by the end. For a very steamy start to a series, and a unique kind of romance, it was a slow build. There was a lot of self-reflection, and some serious drama near the end. This was one of those books that slowly turned into something I couldn’t put down, and now I really look forward to the next!
Fisher of Men was a great 5 star read and book one in the Eastern Shore Swingers series.
We have Leah who is an innocent in many ways, she is working as a Customer service person at a hotel. When she meets Cap at a party that she is working she is shocked to hear exactly what kind of party it is. Although, the lifestyle is a litte intriguing to her.
Leah ends up in a relationship with Cap. You go girl! We get some steamy scenes from them. I really enjoyed reading their story and there were some interesting twists that caused some issues for them. Will Leah be able to accept the lifestyle?
Leah was a little different, coming from a small town she was experiencing a lot of new things, and she was very hard working. Cap is of course in the lifestyle but when he saw Leah something about her drew him in. If he finds “the one” he would be willing to give up the lifestyle, will that be Leah? Can they have a HEA?
The secondary characters added a great element to the story. Phoebe has once again pulled me right in with her writing. I really like the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, they are great. The ending was great, I was a little nervous at first, I wasn’t sure exactly what was going to happen. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, I need to see where things are going with these two.
This is a great series for someone looking to read about swingers. Each book in the series has a twist of uniqueness. The characters are vibrant & realistic. The storyline is in this first book grabbbed me instantly with the dynamic cast of characters. It’s fun & light with a touch of deepness to intrigue the reader more. I am hooked on the series.
Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is book one of the Eastern Shore Swingers Series. This book is an erotic romance and is suggested for readers 18+.
This book is Leah Miller and Captain “Cap” Chris Sheldons story. Leah was raised with strict Christian values and her family really expected her to follow their footsteps in the ministry. Leah wanted more though. She wanted to branch out from the Midwest so she ended up on the East Coast. After college she accepts a job at The Pearl and that’s where she meets Cap. She didn’t realize it at first but she meets Cap at a swingers party and though she has strong feelings for him, she’s having a hard time reconciling his lifestyle with her Christian values. Will Cap be able to set aside his lifestyle for a relationship with Leah or will Leah be able to look passed her faith at something new?
I enjoyed this book just as I have other books by this author. There was so much emotion and inner turmoil you could almost feel Leah’s struggle. The characters are so well written you can’t help but feel invested in them which really sucks you into the story. I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store!
Fisher of Men was my first book by Phoebe Alexander and it was worth of 3.5 stars out of 5. I have a like/dislike relationship with this book, it was the one subject of the book that drew me in but the other subject wasn’t something I normally read about and because of that I didn’t feel a connection with the female lead. The writing was well written but I have to admit some of Leah’s backstory I skipped over and I didn’t care for the scriptures at the beginning every chapter. I did like that Mrs. Alexander took a chance at showing two different people from totally different worlds coming together and building a relationship. You don’t see too many romance books take this big of a risk in its subject matters.
But this book isn’t going to stop me from reading the other books in this series. Like I said, one subject matter caught my eye and I would like to see where Mrs. Alexander takes the other stories within this club.
Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is book 1 in the Eastern Shore Swingers series, while I enjoyed the story line, and the book. I feel like some of the drama in the book outweighed the chemistry of the characters. This book was intriguing due to the story to me which I really liked. I have never read anything by Phoebe Alexander, and while the characters could have been a little better developed and more interesting, I will continue to read this authors works. I like the writing style and think that the book shows great promise, I will definitely read others in this series. I give this book 4 stars.
Fisher of Men is Book 1 in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series From author Phoebe Alexander. This was a brilliant steamy read that had you captivated totally compelled to read until the very end. This is a totally unique romance read.
Even with these books being part of a series, they can all be read and enjoyed as stand-alone. This is my first type Swingers themed read, and the synopsis was really intriguing, so I took the chance and I’m so glad I took it. I was learning about the lifestyle along with the main character Leah Miller. There are great details within this read, that make it even more captivating and intriguing.
I loved Leah & Chris ‘Cap’ Sheldon from the start, they have chemistry from the get-go that continues to grow throughout the read, but can Leah stop the struggle she has with herself between her religion and sexuality and follow her heart with Cap and her desires? I loved reading Cap and Leah’s story I loved watching them evolve and Leah experiencing and learning new things all the while having a strong, alpha male taking her along on the journey.
Along with the main characters we have some brilliant secondary characters that really stand out and help make this story progress further, and I can’t wait to read some of their stories.
This is a brilliant start to what I think will be an incredible series, with brilliant characters, steamy passionate relationships and epic storylines. I can’t wait to read the next.
Fisher of Men Eastern Shore Swingers #1 by Phoebe Alexander
4 stars!!!!
I have to say that as this is a slightly different romance genre than I am used to I was well impressed by the authors creative way of bringing it to the reader. I admit it isn’t a lifestyle choice I would make but I came into this book with a very opened mind and wasn’t disappointed.
The whole chemistry between Cap and Leah is definitely unique. I like how the author did get a bit of drama written in. The whole religious conflict Leah feels I can so relate to with all be it a slightly different situation but nonetheless it brought it home for me. I like how the author addressed this with Mary. This book brings an alternative lifestyle to light and the author has a very refreshing
and unique way of dealing with the subject. I would probably read more of this series in the future even though it is something I would never consider but I can always get lost is the books.
I do not usually read anything religious, but I was feeling adventurous with this book. I was not a big fan of them bible passages but overall I actually quite enjoyed reading this. As it focused on two people and them overcoming their differences. I also like older man and younger woman reads, so that was a bonus!
I loved Cap, he was my favourite. He was such a good male protagonist. I do not know what I was about Leah, but I did not like her as much. I did sympathise with her because she was being thrown into a world that she was brought up to believe was a bad lifestyle. Which is obviously very hard for anyone.
This is a good book with a lot of steam and passion.
Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that will swing you round. This is the first book in the Eastern shore swingers series, and what a series, I did this one backwards and read the other books first then came back to the beginning, so I knew what to expect, hot, heavy and full of steam. What would you do if the man you fell in love with was the opposite of everything you have been led to believe, this one will have you wondering what choice would you make, would you have a hot a life if you did? Leah overall is a great character, but she did lack something, but where she meets Cap and them together, that is just pure magic, the chemistry is off the charts hot. This series starts with a bang and just gets better. I think this series may just be my favourite by this author, and this is a very strong story in the series.
