From New York Times bestselling author Tosca Lee comes the much-anticipated, high-speed sequel to The Progeny. Face-to-face with her past, Audra Ellison now knows the secret she gave up everything–including her memory–to protect. A secret made vulnerable by her rediscovery, and so powerful neither the Historian nor the traitor Prince Nikola will ever let her live to keep it. With Luka in the … live to keep it.
With Luka in the Historian’s custody and the clock ticking down on his life, Audra only has one impossible chance: find and kill the Historian and end the centuries old war between the Progeny and Scions at last–all while running from the law and struggling to control her growing powers.
With the help of a heretic monk and her Progeny friends Claudia, Piotrek, and Jester, Audra will risk all she holds dear in a final bid to save them all and put her powers to the ultimate test. Love, action, and stunning revelation reign in this thrilling conclusion to The Progeny.

I stayed awake most of last night reading Tosca Lee’s, Firstborn. There was no convenient place to stop. It is helpful to refresh your memory with the list of characters and the map of places you will visit in this story. The Progeny are a select group of people with more advanced sensory abilities which they receive through their bloodline.
Tosca does not skip a beat with the non stop adrenaline rush of the story. I can not post why it is imperative that Audra and Luka succeed in the time sensitive effort of finding the identity of the Historian. There is more at stake than ever before. The lives of the Progeny are at risk due to the influence of the Historian to have them hunted by the religious sect of the Scion and their memories taken. The bonds of family and the lives of Progeny are hanging in a fine balance. The Utod who have befriended Audra have doubts about Luka and Roland, former Scion agents. All of these elements are woven together to blend betrayals with unbroken trust among friends and foe. There is a scene with Audra in the story which breaks my heart, and as a reader, fills me with fear.
Later, I could almost feel the thrill of the pulsing beauty and rush of being underground at court. It would make a beautiful movie scene.
If you were enthralled with Progeny, you will want to grab Firstborn very soon!
(I do think the book cover could have been better).
A great read that makes you pause and think. I couldn’t put it down.
A continuation of The Progeny, this book is another page turner. You will dive right into this one at full speed.
I loved everything about it.
Thank you Tosca!
This book is gripping from the first chapter! The first book really set this book up for all the action twists and turns! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a novel that twists and turns until the very end. I love the fact that this book follows the geography of the actual regions! I love a book that places you in actual locations and actual streets in those countries and cities! Five stars for this gripping action filled thriller!
The continuing journey with Audra & Luca, to find Brother Daniel who keeps watch over something special & to bring down the Historian, are just the tip of the iceberg. Ancient family histories, car chases, a steamy love story, gorgeous Eastern European scenery, found memories, & a decades, no centuries old long battle between two prominent societies keeps readers forever glued to the edge of their seats, in Tosca Lee’s Firstborn.
Brilliant, strong characters, fast-paced suspense & intrigue is what Tosca is known for & definitely provides in the second book of the Bathory series.
A great conclusion to the first book, The Progeny. With lots of action and a bit of romance, Tosca hooks you on the first page and then the story compels you to read through to the end.
Nail biting. Beautiful. A twisting, turning, fantastic adventure! Who are you really, beneath it all?
