I wanted her—even if she was a mortal and I was a nothing shifter.I’d have one drink and be gone.At least that’s what I told myself—but I didn’t expect Lisa to walk through the door. She was a blonde vision and I was a fool to think it could work. I loved Lisa the best way I knew how. I could have done without lying to her, pretending to be a cop.But she couldn’t know the truth about me.And I had … she couldn’t know the truth about me.
And I had suspicions of my own.
Especially when Lisa announced her pregnancy.
Then Lisa did the unthinkable and a new rage took hold.
I found a new love, my mate, the curvy and alluring Stella, a true shifter.
With her guidance, I will take what is rightfully ours…
Even if it means hurting my daughter to get it.
Author’s Note: This book is a stand alone with a HEA and is intended for 18 and over.

it’s a prequel to a new series “Bears in Blue”.
Reading the back cover I was pretty confused!!! What was going on? Intrigued I started to read ……
Paul is a shifter, a good guy but has had a few runs of back luck, he thinks his luck has changed when a gorgeous (mortal) woman enters the bar he is in. He doesn’t mean to lie, but once he tells Lisa what he is, she won’t look at him ever again. So he tells her he’s an undercover cop.
The story does jump large time gaps. The next time we meet Paul, it’s his wedding day, he still hadn’t gotten away from his “family” Lisa is still in the dark about what he really does. A Paul is desperate to live a good life and honest life, but he’s in too deep.
Again a jump in time sees Lisa telling Paul she pregnant, he’s happy, but wary, mortal women don’t usually carry shifter babies, has she been unfaithful? Does she carry shifter DNA and not know it? Paul is still being told what to do by his boss, Paul is now frantic to get out, but he’s stuck, how can they ever have a “normal” family?
Stella has been in Paul’s life for a long time. She is his best friends sister, but she seems to have a hidden agenda (she’s friendly, some say too friendly) as far as she is concerned they should be together and he should just leave the wife and daughter. So she takes matters into her own hands (she’s shown Lisa a video of her “husband”) and now she’s run off with Melissa…..
Again we jump and Stella and Paul are in a relationship, he wants his daughter, but no longer feels the same way about Lisa (I think there is more to Stella than meets the eye) Stella wants to take over the “sleuth” (bear group) and Paul is going to help her….
Paul and Stella are now running the “sleuth” their leader disappears and with Stella ‘s help they turn to Paul.
And the ending …… well that was a BIG surprise. Will I read on? I really don’t know.
I’m not a fan of this one. It may have been the short format of the story prevented me from knowing them very well, but by the time the book was over, I really didn’t like any of the lead characters. Paul started out being sympathetic, but that opinion changed quickly. I thought Paul and Stella were manipulative narcissists. I really felt sorry for Lisa and Melissa, and even to some extent Bailey.
He was a nothing shifted and she was a human. He should have just left but he could not when she appeared. Things progress and he lied to her about being a cop. Then she says she is pregnant. When he meets his true mate life will get difficult even if it means hurting his daughter. What is he going to do? See what he is going to dk

First Shift by Mia Taylor is a wonderful story that I was able to read of late. This is book number zero and a brand new start to a wonderful series that I fell in love with. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about bear shifters and I can not wait to read the next book in this wonderful series.

ONE AMAZING READ!!!
Oh man, talk about hard hitting. This is one exciting, action packed, fast paced, pulse racing, heart pounding, page turning delight that captivates from start to finish. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, along with a few unexpected circumstances make for one incredible adventure. The pressure is on, the tension high, the danger and suspense builds throughout as the tale unfolds. One thrilling storyline with an incredible plot really pulls this bad boy together flawlessly. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it brings this bad boy roaring to life brilliantly. Remarkable job Mia, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
A good bear shifter romance.
I have to be honest here… I read this one after reading the other two in this series and I really ended up not liking Paul or Stella. They came off as users who were only focused on sex and power. Did I enjoy the other two books, yes, but this one? Not so much. Granted it was more of a short story than anything else but still.

This is a quick read and sets the scene for the Bears in Blue. This is the backstory. While it was okay, It bounced around with each chapter being a different topic and POV. Does end on a cliffhanger and although I didn’t love some of the characters, it does explain some holes that were in the stories in the series. I’m not sure you can actually read it without having read the stories in the series first. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Paul is a bear shifter and a thief. Paul ends up meeting Lisa in a bar after doing a heist. They start talking and after two years decided to get married. Paul ends up not telling Lisa what he really does. The big lie that he has told has gotten in the way. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. This is the prequel to the Bears in Blue series which now makes the story I read before this one a little more understandable. I will be reading the next book. I would say read these books in order. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a short, easy read which makes it perfect for a prequal to the “Bears in Blue” series. The underlying plot runs through the storyline seamlessly with smaller plot stories mixed it. The ending blew me away, I wasn’t expecting that. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Very active, intense, intriguing, exciting, emotional story. It is full of twists and turns, suspense and drama. Wonderful characters with an amazing story line and it is prequel. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
The story hierarchy is confusing and the characters are not worth reading about. By the time this story was done, I was wishing these bear shifters dead.
OK? That was very, very strange. I don’t know what is up with Stella. If Lisa is Paul’s Mate why did things go down the way they did? As I said very strange. Not a bad story but a strange one. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
sometimes love and lust get confused, and young folk get married and have babies too quickly.
Who’s your Daddy is not a game anyone wants to play.
Is the baby Lisa bore the child of Paul or …?
an unsettling pre-quel.

I found this story to be an interesting read, I sat down and didn’t move again until I had finished the book, luckily, it’s a fairly short read! It’s very well written and the characters are well written, with believable dialogue. It ends in an OMG sort of way that now means I have to read the next book! This isn’t your typical shifter story, in fact they rarely shift to bears, but it is a great read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review.
Here we have Bear Shifter Paul Stark who meets mortal Lisa & Their joining started so right from the off start. Even though he’s kept back his true being from that same off start also.
Then a few years later after the birth of Melissa things go down hill very fast.
Here we see what’s happened to Paul & their Bear Sleuth over a few years. Then we jump back again to when Melissa was born & hear something unexpected.
Looking forward to see what’s going to happen & what will be told during Lisa & Melissa’s lives without Paul & see if they meet up when/if Paul’s able to track them down years later…
An intense story, short but along different years…
Surprises until the end…
Strong and incredible characters… good? You will decided…
