Great reading for everybody. Some authors here I read on a regular basis and some new. These are short stories relating to other series for the authors, but gives you alot of information. You have your share of danger, heat and mystery. Loved them all.
I grabbed this anthology for a few reasons. One, who doesn’t love a bad boy, and to have a bunch of them in one book…I’m definitely in! Secondly, I’m a big Megan Ryder fan, so when I her name, I was doubly excited.
Claiming Lyla is a paranormal romance, but don’t let that stop you if you’re new to the genre. It’s a quick read, but really good…and now I reading every shifter romance I can find! It’s Ryder’s first para story, but I’m hoping it won’t be her last, because it’s very well written and Duncan and Lyla are H. O. T! It’s my favorite story in the anthology.
Half of the writers are new to me and a few stories didn’t capture my attention, to be honest. But you can’t beat the price point, especially if it opens the reader up to a new romance sub genre and/or new author. Overall, 4 stars, but Claiming Lyla on its own gets 5 stars from me.
First Response is an anthology of short entertaining stories. My favorites were Sheltering Charlotte by Elle James and In The Wild by Delilah Devlin. They are all wonderful stories that pull you in and keep your attention until the end. I would definitely recommend this wonderful collection of short stories.
This is a fun steamy set of short reads, and all are supernatural treats. I am reviewing Claiming Lyla by Megan Ryder.
I loved this short tease and hope the author plays on expanding it at some point. Duncan is a hero and protector with integrity, and I appreciated that. Lyla took a bit if convincing at first, but she let him save and claim her in a dramatic way. Who can fight fate??? I highly recommend this book.
OMG off the charts hot! My two favourites were by Elle James and NJ Walters. I’m a sucker for 2nd time around romance and rekindled love. Awesome!
This book is a quick read with short stories. You may find some new authors and enjoy some of your favorites. There’s something in here for everyone. There’s mystery, danger and romance. Two of my favorite authors Elle James and Reina Torres have short stories in here.
I was asked to read First Response : Sheltering Charlotte and that was where a second chance story and it was every emotional and detailed about what happened to the deputy sheriff and lost love. Also Sheltering Charlotte was written about a woman who had lost who she was and need to get herself back together. There was a second chance in this story that was Charlotte need it. Charlotte had an abusive marriage after college. She thought that Luke was going to come for her and he did but found out she was getting married he joined the service. When he came back he heard that Charlotte was back too. He thought he had a second chance. Charlotte was home after work when something bad was going to happen and she didn’t know about it. Luck when to see if she need a ride home when things got worse. When he got to her house she was running a sander and didn’t know what was going on. I had to keep reading until the end.
Elle made the character wonderful together. I could read this again and still see myself in this story as I read the emotional and tragic things that happen.
Really enjoyed the short quick paced stories about first responders. It’s always great to find new authors. Two of my favorites are Sheltering Charlotte by Elle James. This is a second chance romance I adored. Far from Over by Reina Torres is also a favorite. Hot sexy stories that can be read quickly. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
This anthology is made up of short stories about “ bad boys”, all First Responders. Men that under their hard exterior, have a soft spot for a woman that either they had a connection years ago, and each went their separate ways, or it’s fairly recent, but neither party has taken the step to make it real.
My favorite was Sheltering Charlotte , by Elle James.
Logan Mitchell, a deputy in Hellfire, TX has been in love with Charlotte from the moment he met her in his teen years. Then she left 10 years ago, got married and left Logan heartbroken. She’s back in town, owns the local diner, but is no longer the same girl. Obvious to him, is that the marriage left her with deep scars.
When a tornado hits town, they find safety in the cellar of her new home. Will they survive the tornado? If so, will they finally get a chance of moving forward together or will each go their separate ways?
Short stories, and/or novellas are not easy to write and many stories suffer when the plot and or the characters are not well developed. This author managed to do both well in just a few pages.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Like all anthologies, some stories are better than others. Overall, though, this is a good book to read a bit then come back to if you’re randomly switching between different types of books.
Great collection of romances featuring first responders. Sexy and fun reads. A great way to sample new to me authors too.
I received a complimentary copy of this anthology and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a collection of wonderful short stories. A few were new to me authors amongst some of my favorites. I truly enjoyed reading all of them. They were mini bookcations.
I would likely recommend this anthology to anyone over the age of 18. Be prepared for some hot first responders!!
