This is a spinoff of the Trailerverse series and it is amazing!! Winnie (Wynonna) branches out on her own in Steelshore with the FBI to help stop fairy trafficking. While doing so she learns things about what she wants in life and who she is as a person and about being the Pheonix. Of course, she also has romantic complications that you will love or hate But either way…just grab this book! I can’t say more without giving it all away. Enjoy!!
I loved watching Winnie grow into her powers and as a person. Kimbra did a great job of bringing in new characters and setting as well as still giving us a dose of Grace and Shady Grove. Ready for more!
First book in the new spin off series. Get to see favorites, old characters develop and meet new friends
First off, you do not need to have read the Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen series for this to make sense. It will add more depth to some characters, but is absolutely not necessary.
I love love loved this book. Not some half assed spin off, First Flame stands strong all on it’s own.
Kyrie… wooo boy! All the right things.
Winnies first leading role will bring the laughs, the feels, a touch of the brown-chicken-brown-cow, and leave ya waiting for more.
Go read it!
Great beginning to Winnie’s story. I am looking forward to experiencing all of her adventures! Loved it!
Phoenix, Fairys, shifters and some shady cats. This book has it all. Dark, twisted, hilarity and action. Winnie is all grown up (mostly) and striking out on her own to find her way in the world and figure out her powers. She’s snarky, sassy, and powerful. Kimbra has built a wonderful urban fantasy world in Steelshore. The cast of characters are fun and interesting. There are a couple of cats you’ll enjoy getting to know. Laugh out loud fun with action and adventure, magic and mayhem. Can’t wait for more in this amazing series.
Sometimes making your own way hurts. Winnie hits Steelshore to find her own path via fighting against the faerie trafficking ring using these ports. But she faces these dangers harboring questions and doubts regarding the limits of her powers. A sort of supernatural coming of age while fighting villainy. While trying to make a new life, will she fall to the various powers threatening these shores, or face them down as the phoenix ascending?
An outstanding launch for this solo series.
While Winnie may be Grace’s daughter, she is very much her own person. A great new series from Kimbra with some very satisfying twists and turns. Loved it!
First, let me preface by saying I received an Advance Copy of the book. I am not required to write this review, nor am I required to give a favorable review.
I’ve read Kimbra’s Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen series, and Winnie is one of my absolute favorite characters. The strength she exhibited even as a small child was astounding, and the character never fails to make me laugh.
That being said, this book was amazing! I’ve been looking forward to it since the author announced the series, and I simply couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed reading about Winnie’s adventures, and her interactions with characters familiar to me and otherwise. This is going to be a fantastic series, and I really cannot wait to read the next installment.
