First Contact is the 1st book in the Haunts For Sale series by Kat Green, In the book Sloan Osbourne is a paranormal investigator and a real estate agent who specializes in selling haunted houses. Sloan has never actually seen a ghost but has all of the equipment she needs to be able to tell if a house is haunted or not. Sloan has a client who is looking to purchase a house but wants to know if it is haunted or not, and if it is Safe for people to live there. Sloan is more then ready to investigate this house. It is also the anniversary of the death of her fiance.
Sloan’s fiance Michael was killed in a car accident as they were headed to get their marriage license 1 year ago. He always used to use a year and a day as a time reference for things, like when giving something time like a new job give it a year and a day, if you don’t like it quit, and so on.
Sloan feels like if she does not make contact with Michael on the year and a day anniversary she will never be able to, and what better place to try then a haunted house. That is all I am going to tell you about the story, I don’t want to ruin it.
I was very impressed with this book. It grabbed a hold to me right away, and left me sad knowing I have to wait for the next book. This truly was a great book. I loved how it stayed interesting and to the point with out boring me with unneeded details. For the most part if there was a detail about something you needed it either to keep track of the point being made or you would need it in another later part of the book.
The characters in the book were awesome and life like. They had feelings and emotions that jumped off the page and made you feel sad or happy or whatever for them.
The story kept moving, it did not stall out. It was almost a roller caster at times. I personally really like that. I do not enjoy books that get stagnant. This book never did.
The audiobook is narrated by Kate Taylor. She really made this book come to life. I actually read the book a couple of years ago, but I have to say the audiobook makes this book even more creepy. I loved the ghost voices. Kate had my spine tingling.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Kat Green. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
Sloane Osbourne: Paranormal Realtor will find your ideal haunted house.
Surely someone who looked for ghosts has GOT to be crazy, Sloane had taken this idea and turned it into a business. What lay at the heart of this initiative was the mission she had set herself in looking for one ghost in particular – that of Michael, her dead fiancee, the man she had loved so hard in life.
Almost one year and one day ago, he’d died, and now contracted to investigate another haunted house, she knew that if he didn’t show in the next few hours, he never would. Michael not only showed himself, but had a message: “Find them.”
Jonah Prescott had been Michaels’ best friend since they were kids, and was with him when they first met Sloane. Since then, he’s kept an eye on her, but is otherwise involved in the cold case part of the FBI. As a sensitive since the age of seven, he’s also been Sloane’s past partner on their ghost hunting missions as a part of their paranormal group. He’s also the first point of contact after the disturbing scene at the old house.
There is so much more that had gone on in that old house, and the ghosts of the past need help. Perhaps more than Sloane is even able to give.
Even with so much going on in this book, there is still the heartbreaking scene between Sloane and Michael. Their love transcended death, and if you loved the movie ‘Ghost’ you will certainly appreciate this book. It was a fast-paced read that I absolutely had get through in one sitting. Thanks to the Quirky Blind Date with a Book readers group, I read and enjoyed these new-to-me authors, and I can tell you true: I’ll be reading the next book. 5 Stars – Seriously!
Cliched, predictable, obvious…..and yet I really liked it! I have every reason to dislike this book, but there was just enough “unusual” to make it surprisingly interesting.
After the death of her fiance’, Sloane Osbourne decides to become a Paranormal Realtor, selling haunted houses as she searches for the ghost of her deceased love, Michael. One of the services that she provides is staying at suspected haunted houses and verifying that they are as advertised, yet safe, to potential buyers. She ends up at a suspected haunted house a year and a day to Michael’s death. She does actually find that he is there, along with a macabre group of dried out dead girls. Sloane is sent on a hunt to set the girls free and calls on Michael’s best friend, Jonah, to assist her. He has “the gift” of seeing dead people and he and Sloane have a connection that goes beyond regular “friends”.
After a few “I totally saw that coming” moments for the reader, we see Sloane finds herself in quite a predicament that only Michael and a host of dead females can help her get out of. She longs for Jonah to find her and for even the smallest sip of water….(read the book!). Will they be able to help her? Can she even help herself? Will Sloane Osbourne end up with Michael after all….or as just another dead girl trapped in unending hell?
