First Blade : (Book # 1 First Awakening) Jane Hicnhey.
A great first attempt writing a book thoroughly enjoyed had good flow action and pace. I loved the characters All but 3 and love to hate them so Mrs Hinchey did her job well. that was lacking in something i’m not sure what it is as the world was pretty much the same as the human world it’s not the world building it was missing the action was fantastic the characters were great but this some sort of something missing from the book maybe a little bit a heart with the characters a bit of feeling or emotional something i’m not sure what it is a can’t hi put my finger on it but i can’t wait to find out what happens in book 2 and see how this wonderful talent changes, learns and adapts.
What are completely loved about this book : I only found one spelling mistake throughout this entire book I devoured in just a few short hours.
Made me feel like my old days of reading pre migraines & knocking over this book in a few short hours.
Thanks Jane for quick thrill ride taking me to places and experience things impossible for one with injuries.
I was completely absorbed in the book not noticing my surroundings or the noises around me.
Was 100% in the book in the lead characters roll of Georgia “Skin Walking” as if i was the character myself!
Takes a mighty author to be able to pull this off, this “Skin Walking” feat for me!
This is the first book I have read by Jane Hinchey, but definitely won’t be the last!
I Rate First Blade 3.9 out of 5
A great start to what I hope is an amazing series by a brilliant author.
Can’t wait to get into the pages of Book 2 as I read Book 1 in a matter of hours! Had trouble putting it down!
5A great read on the beach or anywhere and the sex is pretty damn Hot Hot Hot!
Who needs the sun to make this book SIZZLE, Mrs Hinchey’s words in Georgia & Zak & her imagination do it all on it’s own!
One of my favourite things about this book is hearing a lot of the Aussie colloquialisms & phrases, it’s a nice to read something so close to home rather than all these books that are situated in the US or Europe!
You Go Girl!
I recieved an ARC Copy of this book & this is my fair, honest & impartial review!

From The
(Bye Love From The Crazy Australian Bookworm)!
First Blade (#1) – Well-written, interesting characters, story draws you in, the fight scenes believable and exciting. Only complaint – sometimes the vulgar language wasn’t necessary; yes, the main character has a few issues, but you’re in her corner. I read this book, and First Witch, in one sitting. Get First Witch, it surpasses First Blade.
First Witch (#2) is better than First Blade, which is a good, standalone book, too. A standalone continuation from FB, just as well-written, full of interesting, believable characters – even the known and unknown enemies. Packed with fast-paced excitement and a couple of twists. I couldn’t put the book down. Again, only complaint, sometimes the vulgar language wasn’t necessary. It has a lot more sex than FB did.
First Blood (#3) – A fabulous ending to a fabulous series! Another well-written, intriguing novel with interesting, developed characters and a well thought out, fast paced plot with twists. Full of action and humor keeps the reader glued to the pages. Jelly Bean is a wonderful, complex character, and that was before JB was born. Compared to First Blade and First Witch, the sex and vulgar language was practically nonexistent.
All I have to say is WOW …. I loved this book. This was a first time read for me on this author and granted some of t he reviews had me worried, but all in all I am glad that I received a copy for review in exchange for an honest review
A sassy, kick-a** read!
A psychic…
An immortal vampire…
An ancient dagger…
And, of course, trouble occurs…
Whoa! OMG! One of the best paranormal romances I have had the pleasure of reading this year! Such an intriguing, suspenseful, alluring and compelling read! So freaking good.
Absolutely positively great start to the Awakening series! Eagerly awaiting to read the rest of the books.
Full of sassy, kick-a** heroines, suspense, vampires, psychics, secrets, danger, drama, ancient daggers and love.
Perfect for readers of paranormal romantic suspense novels.
Audiobook
I didn’t fall wildly in love/in like with the narration but it was okay. It was good listening to the book.
I read First Blade about a year or so ago and at that time, it was written as a standalone. Along with some grammatical errors, there was also the feeling that Georgia and Zac’s story wasn’t finished. At that time, I was on the fence about this one. When I heard that the book had been tweaked and was now part of a continuing series, I reread it and came off that fence quite quickly.
In this first book in the series, Georgia is psychic, often getting visions of other’s future. Bring in Zac, the sexy angel/vampire hybrid and things escalate rapidly. Georgia frustrated me in this one with her attitude and tantrums. I could understand her reasoning for some of it, but she came across like an angry teen more often than not, rather than an adult who co-owns a business. That aside, the other characters were likable and the story flows nicely with plenty of action to keep things moving. The attraction between Georgia and Zac was palpable in its intensity and the suspense of the connection between the ring and blade add to the suspense. There were some unanswered questions, but that’s to be expected in a continuing story.
