I really loved this story that introduced the back story to Catherine and Benedicts romance. Look forward to reading more of these characters.

Catherine is 18 and making her debut as a young vampire at a ball. She catches the eyes of many…but she has eyes for only one…Benedict. He is a Lord but not very wealthy. Her father is determined she is to marry someone considerably older than her…but she meets Benedict in secret. He put a bid in for marriage but is ignored. They end up staying the night together…her father has found out…what will happen? This ends in a cliffhanger…I received this as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’m not much of a fan of stories which treat women as property. Even worse is the concept of the dowry: having to pay someone to take them away. I’m uncertain, but I feel that the blurb put a damper on the story. Knowing, in advance, that the relationship doesn’t work out here. The end of the story is both better and worse than anticipated.
