“I just love the worlds she builds and the kick ass heroines she writes! There is nothing worse than a weak heroin that does nothing but cry and expect a man to save her. Shannon doesn’t do that. Her leading ladies are strong independent warriors yet so full of heart and soul that when that rare occasion comes that tears are shed you can’t help but cry with them.” -Boundless Book ReviewsFrom … Reviews
From HiJinks Ink Publishing and Shannon Mayer comes FIRESTORM (Book 3) in The USA Today Bestselling ELEMENTAL SERIES. With over 1 million books sold, Shannon Mayer proves once again she can dominate her genre right out of the gate.
“My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental.”
My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I should be at my father’s side as a royal princess. But as a half-breed, bastard child, that isn’t going to happen.
In a world of lava and fire, I am about to face my hardest trial yet. Not one of strength, or power, but intrigue and manipulation. However, my tolerance level for anyone outside of my family is at an all-time low, and the queen who rules the Pit expects complete obedience.
As Ash’s life is held in the balance, I have just three days to prove his innocence and mine. This place holds more than a scorching heat; new foes, traitors, and creatures from the depths of the lava are all trying to keep us from surviving.
The only question left. . . Can I get us all out without being burned alive?
Welcome to the Pit.

I’m not the fastest reader but I flew through this book. It was a rollercoaster of non stop action which I couldn’t put down. The world that Shannon Meyer has created is amazing, brilliant, fantastic and awesome! Easy 5 stars from me!
The tale of Lark is powerful yet deadly, and this installment is no exception. Almost as soon as the book begins, Lark’s life hangs in the balance and remains that way until the very end. We finally get to see Mayer’s fictional land of the Salamanders (or fire elementals), and it’s what you would expect, and even more. In true Mayer fashion, her affections for Ash remain yet nothing comes easy to them, and much to the reader’s disappointment, they spend most of the book apart.
Not surprisingly, nothing is as it seems which makes you really think about the plot instead of just plodding on. She gets you to question things as Lark does, and ponder what actions she should take, or even what could be lurking around the next corner. Once you get the hang of Mayer’s writing style, this doesn’t come as a surprise, but this book just wasn’t as good as the other two in the series. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but despite the intrigue of what could be perceived as the most mysterious elemental family, it just didn’t capture me the way the others had and should continue to do. It’s quite apparent that everything happens for a reason, and Lark is meant to forge on in this journey of hers, and even by now, the readers only have glimpses of the big picture of what will end up happening in the end. By the end of this book, I can clearly see how this will tie into the Rylee series, and happy to see that Peta finally makes her appearance. Though my misgivings, I still want to know how Lark’s story finally concludes so I’ll keep working my way through the series.
Love this book and the whole series. This is one of my favorite authors

Firestorm: The Elemental Series #3
On their return to the rim Dolph arrived with word from Queen Finley. She thanks Princess Belladonna & especially Ender Larkspur for their help with protecting her & her people. She offers Lark her loyalty. They both think their Father, the King, will be proud of them but he threatens to banish them both instead! His mind is obviously still clouded by Cassava’s manipulations over the years. Lark leaves to return the Griffin claw necklace to Griffin, the Wolf, that had helped her a few times! After he tells her to keep it & leaves, Ash arrives. He kisses her at long last! They’re then quickly surrounded by Fire Elementals, they’re there to take them to trial after all!
Beaten but not broken they arrive at the Pit. The Queen demands answers & Lark is about to admit fault & tell her Ash didn’t kill anyone when he lies, and beats her to it! His kiss was a goodbye, he’ll walk to his death into the lava put in 3 days – unless Lark can find a way to save them both!
This is a dark story, there’s a lot of pain within the Pit. New friends & old are made & found and enemies surround them! Mother Goddess really does put Lark through an awful lot, I’m not a huge fan to be honest!! It seems more is going on & Lark and friends might need to figure out what, in order to save Ash & everyone of the fire Elementals. Peta makes a welcome return .

Firestorm did not disappoint. It was filled with action. I loved the reintroduction of Peta and her new role. I like that Cactus has made his reappearance, also. I am interested to see Lark and Peta’s bond grow and what they get into next.
I’m not sure I can breath now after I finished this book because I’ve been holding it whole time of the rollercoaster reading ride. Love these wonderful characters and unpredictable action packed storyline! Keep going!
