Absolutely brilliant! Loved every word!
Wow. Loved everything about it. The writing is perfect, the two characters are people you want to go the distance with, and their love story one you can’t let go of. The world building puts you right there in the scene down to the smallest detail of a drop of dew rolling off a rose leave and landing on his forehead. There is tension, there is …
A good historical fantasy. Two people with curses they want to keep hidden from the world and each other fall in love and then have to face the Big Bad. There was a bit too much artificially forced secrecy between the two, and the falling in love seemed to happen outside the narrative and was simply given to the reader, but the plot was …
In book one in the Darkest London series, Miranda Ellis’s crooked father lost the family fortune, so she has no choice but to steal in order to survive. Then her father forces her into a marriage with Lord Archer, a wealthy man rumored to have a violent temper. Miranda can create fire from just thinking about it, and though she’s determined to …
Firelight is the first book I’ve read by author Kristen Callihan, and even though it didn’t grab my attention doesn’t mean I won’t try another book by the author. I ended up listening to the book to finish it since it took me a while to read it. The first half of the book was slow to me, and the second half of it went fast in finding out more …
Enjoyed this, but not totally enthralled with it. Involves magical abilities, demon curses and silvery, glowing skin (which made me think of Edward in the “Twilight” series). Nice love story, and I especially liked the tough, take-charge heroine…who made me think of Buffy. Will continue on with this series.
FIRELIGHT is a feast of interesting characters and intriguing situations, of secrets, mysteries and plot twist keeping your nose glued to its page.
I soooo loved the slow but steady build-up in Archer and Miranda’s relationship, as well as the way Author Callihan gives us the ‘greater picture’, so much so that in Archer and Miranda’s story, late …
