Dakota Watson knew she was naive and wet behind the ears when she joined the local fire company to follow in her dad’s footsteps. The constant battles of wit and daily grind that goes into firefighting exhaust her yet she finds herself exhilarated to keep pushing on. Part of that exhilaration could have something to do with the return of local bad boy and recent divorcee James Baylock. He wants … wants to reconnect with his old buddies, lick his wounds, and forget about women for a while.
Dakota is more than willing to just be “one of the boys”; with the sparks flying between her and James, she doesn’t know how long until they both combust. Will James be the one to help guide innocent Dakota on how to handle the raging inferno of desire between them or will things be all smoke and no flame?

I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.

Two firefighters burned by previous bad relationships, are afraid to open their hearts again. This along with the stress of their job, requirements of constant training and inspections, time is very important and very limited. At times, I found all the details about what the extent is to be a firefighter was boring – and I’m a volunteer firefighter. I thought that James was lame and had no respect for a man who treats a woman so casually. Dakota was a tough cookie and extremely dedicated to her job.

If you are looking for a quick smoking hot read then this is worth a read I enjoyed it and you may too. I liked it and would try more from this author great for when you have a spare hour.
Dakota is a volunteer firefighter, she basically grew up at the firehouse. She meets James a fellow firefighter, who is shy of having a real relationship, but is quite happy to string Dakota along as the secret lover.
Dakota decides to go away for a weekend with the girls, she meets Tom at the nightclub they attended, she ends up going back to his hotel room and they spend the night doing the bedroom mambo. On returning home again, she didn’t hear from Tom and she accidentally washed the paper with his number on it. She broke up with James and started to live her life, or tried to.
Then one day there is a fire and there is only a skeleton crew. James and Dakota go inside the burning house, the fire is in the basement. Then the water runs out and there isn’t any more in the truck. They raced to get out of the basement and then the stairs collapsed while they were trying to get out of the house, James is injured and unconscious. Once James is released from the hospital, he calls around and tells Dakota that he loves her and he wanted to be with her if she would have him.

I love the chemistry between James and Dakota. I love Dakota and her attitude. It takes a little bit of time to really like James. He is sexy but it does seem like it is a little callous with Dakota and her feelings. There is a lot of information in the story. Overall a good story.

This is a very short book. I was able to finish it quickly. It wasn’t the worst story I’ve read and with some more character development it may be a bit better. The erotic parts were hot, but the story is lacking just that, an actual story. I’ve read plenty of erotic novels that have a wonderful story to go with all the hot bits. Dakota is way too naïve to come across as a modern woman working in a mostly male dominated world. Why in the world would she risk her reputation and career for someone like James? James is a huge user and frankly, I just don’t see anything redeeming in his character at all. This book struck me as wrong from start to finish. If all you care about is the hot, sexy parts to a book then you’ll probably enjoy this a lot. I just want more in my books then what this one is offering.
Dakota’s dad was a firefighter and she did all sorts of volunteer work there growing up. When her dad retired, she decided to carry on the tradition and become a firefighter herself.
James moves back to the area after his divorce. Dakota and James start fooling around. James is older than Dakota and she’s a virgin. She’s unsure of what their relationship is and is too afraid to ask. Frankly everything about them feels shady right from the start. Dakota is so naïve it’s hard to believe she’s a grown woman. James is definitely a manipulative user.
Dakota eventually gets up the nerve to ask where they’re relationship is heading and of course out pops the standard “oh this is fun but I’m not just not emotionally available” line from James mouth. I wasn’t shocked in the least; you could see that one coming from the start of the book. Secret relationships never end well. Dakota ends things with James. Will this wake him up and make him see her for what she’s worth? Will Dakota see she’s worth more and tell James to get lost?

Confessions from a female firefighter that had fought her way into a man’s world. It was a little unbelievable to me that she would allow herself to go down this rabbit hole, but then she is a naive virgin. Things really heat up with her and a long time firefighter that she has always thought handsome. He is now divorced and not ready to settle down anytime soon. Things develop between them and they go through some rough patches.
