The Series Keeps Getting Better
This series of books need to be read in series order. It had been a while since I had read the previous books and I was a bit lost at first. This is an intricate story about a group of sisters reuniting after the death of their mother. There are family secrets to be revealed and family property to be divided. And, of course, the only one who knew everything was the deceased mother. This is a very good series that is worth reading. It is clean but not sterile. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
This is an entertaining continuation of the Hannigan sister’s return to Birch Harbor. As all 4 of the sisters have returned to town, the adventure continues as they each begin carving out their niche and following their dreams. But not all is perfect – they still don’t know what happened to their father, and there are questions about their mom. I’m enjoying this series and the captivating characters.
This is the continuing saga in the Birch Harbor series with the Hannigan sisters. The author does a great job moving the story fluidly as she takes them on their life’s journey. She brings descriptive and detailed writing , painting her scenes in vivid detail and weaving another entertaining read. I’m enjoying this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is the third book of this Birch Harbor series, we get to see more of Kate, Amelia, Megan, and Clara’s story. Fireflies in a field will bring luck to this family. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Each book in this Hannigan saga keeps getting better and better! I’m completely hooked on these women and their family drama. Everything is so convoluted and interconnected with these mysterious underthemes. I loved watching Megan and her relationship and ideas for the future unfold and I really am excited for Clara to spotlight next and hopefully to see more of that younger high school generation and their shenanigans.

This is the third book of this Birch Harbor series about the Hennigan sisters. Megan is the star of this book and being on the verge of divorce, she goes home to stay with her sisters until she figures out what to do about her marriage and the rest of her life. She inherited empty land when her Mother died. One evening she goes to see the land that is well kept and she sees fireflies that spark an idea about a business as a matchmaker that would bring locals and tourists together. Her husband, Brian, loses his job and visits Megan. When they realize they still love each other and want to stay married, they start up their own matchmaking business and use their empty field as the venue for their first gathering. With the help of all the sisters and the men in their lives, the first gala is a success. It is also the spark that Megan and Brian needed to salvage their marriage that brings them home. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book. Each book is a standalone but they are best read in order and the issue of what happened to their Father, Wendall, is still an unsolved mystery. That doesn’t take away from enjoying each book. It just gives the reader something to look forward to in the next book. I recommend this book and the series.

This is a story of a family recovering from the death of their Mother. Their Father had disappeared years ago. This is the third book and Megan’s story. She has been a homemaker for years. Now that her daughter is a senior and Megan wants a job, or a business or what? Read to find out. I enjoyed my review copy of this book. Fireflies remind me of my childhood so I liked the title. This is a family coming together instead of falling apart.
This is not a standalone! If you don’t read the first two books in the series, you will be totally lost. I loved the continuation of the sisters and their male counterparts. I thought that more information on their father was somewhat missing from this book and that surprised me. There were a couple nuggets thrown out that still didn’t make sense, but that was all.
This book seemed to focus mainly on Megan and Brian and them working on their marriage and their hopes and dreams. We’ve only got one sister left to be highlighted and I can’t wait! I really want them to solve the mystery of what happened to their father!!!
I love Ms. Bromke’s style of writing. She keeps me invested in the story and the characters are memorable enough that even I, with my short term memory problems can remember them before venturing very far into the next book. Great series!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book via Booksprout. All thoughts are my own.
This is a wonderful addition to the Birch Harbor Saga series. This is NOT a stand alone book, you need to read House on the Harbor (book 1) and Lighthouse on the Lake (book 2) or you will be lost. This book picks up where book 2 ends. It is well written and holds your attention. This is a beautiful series that you don’t want to miss. I loved it and look forward to the next book in this series. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Another great book in this series which I absolutely loved. The story line was easy to follow and the characters were well developed. Learning more about the Hannigan sisters and how they help each other is so life-like. Megan and Brian put their divorce on hold and are trying to move forward in their life. Nora’s past catches up to the sisters and threatens Megan’s new dream. Will she be able to use the land she inherited, Hannigan Field, to pursue her dreams. It was nice to learn how the other sisters are progressing in their lives. I received a complimentary copy from Booksprout.
First of all you need to read House on the Harbor: and Lighthouse on the Lake or you’ll be lost and confused. Fireflies in the Field picks up where Lighthouse on the Lake left off–only a few months since the Hannigan sisters’ mother, Nora, died.
Oldest sister Kate has got the Heirloom Inn up and running, while Amelia and her boyfriend are still working to turn the Lighthouse into a museum and she continues to look into their father’s disappearance. The youngest Hannigan girl, Clara is trying to be less introverted and is trying to juggle all the needs of the older sisters with their various projects, then has an unexpected change in her teaching career. Although we get updates on all of the sisters, middle sister Megan Hannigan Stevenson is the main focus of this book.
Megan’s life is so unsettled–she and husband Brian have put their divorce on hold, they’re thinking of selling their house to save money, but that would mean daughter Sarah would graduate from a different high school, and what is she supposed to do with the land, Hannigan Field, she received as her inheritance? Build a house there? She wants to work but nothing sparks her interest like matchmaking does.
It was great catching up with all of the sisters and to see another one realize a dream and be happy. I’m was happy to see Megan get off of the fence she’d been sitting on an decide once and for all if she wanted a divorce or not, decide where she wanted to live and what she wants to do with her life. We keep finding out more snippets of Nora Hannigan’s life and how her decisions continue to affect her daughter’s lives. I can’t wait to read Clara’s story.
*** Start with “House on the Harbor” and “Lighthouse on the Lake” ***
Life was perfect for Megan Hannigan Stevenson. Until it wasn’t. On the brink of divorce and searching for purpose, Megan has decided to move back to Birch Harbor with her sisters.
Kate has her hands full with the new “Heirloom Inn”, while Amelia’s efforts are focused on turning the old lighthouse into a museum. Clara faces unexpected changes to her career and lifestyle. Still, the sisters are determined to work together, supporting each other — and especially Megan — in their unique projects and small businesses.
Just when Megan thinks she’s got things figured out and moving in the right direction, Nora’s past catches up to the Hannigan sisters once again and threatens to crush Megan’s dreams…

OVERALL
It was so satisfying to see Megan work things out and find her new place in the world. I’m excited to learn more about Clara and Jake in the future! Amelia is still determined to discover the truth of Wendell’s disappearance, so “Cottage by the Creek” should be eventful!
Content: clean! Continued development of each sister’s romantic interests is subtle, but helps to keep things interesting. Mild intramarital implications/innuendo; one mildly passionate kissing scene.
Language: mild (those found in the Bible)
Themes include small town gossip and grudges; healing relationships; change; divorce; startup businesses; family support systems.
This is NOT a romance novel, but there are mildly romantic subplots happening for each of the women. The focus of this installment is Megan, including the relationship with her husband, Brian. She also evaluates her attitude about life and where it has taken her.
