“His touch can heal anything — except her. Her touch can kill anyone — except him. He’s her salvation. She’s his doom.” Every time I read this, it makes me cry. This is well written, has amazing characters, and is action packed. Definitely an emotional rollercoaster.
This was a fantastic book!!!
We have known about Ivy for some time now but we were sort of the billion in a different book so I wasn’t sure what to make of her. However, as the story progressed, my heart broke for her!
Hugh is the grumpy one of the group. Finally getting his book we get to understand all that is going on with him in detail and I can understand not wanting to be around others.
My heart broke for Hugh when he turned to his teammates and they reacted the way that they did.
This is one of my new favorites!
Letting Go
Hugh is keeping the secrets of all secrets from most of his firefighting buddies. They know he can’t be around a lot of people as it is taxing on him mentally.
He is the grumpiest medic but they all care about him.
Ivy has never know human touch as she is deadly to anyone. She is unwanted and only loved by her sister.
When these two meet it is not a blessing in disguise. Can these two make their world co-exist peacefully or will lives be ruined?
Absolutely perfect
Book 6 in the Fire & Rescue Shifters series, while this could be read as a standalone, characters carry over from book to book (Ivy plays key roles in a couple of them), so I suggest reading the series in order for the best experience.
As usual, I loved the blend of world building, action, humor and romance this author uses. I’ve been pretty sure who Hugh’s mate was going to be for a couple of books now, but the story was even better than I imagined it would be. The dichotomy of the healing unicorn mated to the venomous wyveryn was absolutely perfect. Another 5+ star addition to the series.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Wyvern can kill some with just a touch
Unicorn can cure almost anything with just a touch.
They were perfect for each other.
They can touch each other w/o causing pain.
Even better, when they were each other mates.
But Unicorns are rare and very valuable.
When her mate is threaten, Ivy will kill anyone to protect him.
When danger comes, will both of them be strong enough to protect the ones they love ?
Loved the storytelling + the characters!
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! No one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have bought this book because it is awesome, and I own most of Zoe’s books!
The cover is amazing!! It has a unicorn which if you noticed I’m pretty fanatical about 🙂 I collect them, do reviews using them, and yeah you get the idea! I love unicorns!
This is the 6th book in the series, and I was so right about Hugh! This series is for adults only due to the steamy content. I would also highly recommend reading the series in order because the characters and previous events make it better all together with their synergy.
Hugh and Ivy’s story is epic! It has tons of action, and it was an emotional rollercoaster! There was mystery and intrigue that was slowly revealed. Hugh and Ivy are perfect together! I couldn’t put the book down. I can’t wait to read more of this series because Ash needs his happily ever after too!
I highly recommend this book and series to all shifter fans especially if you love mythic shifters and HEAs!! I can’t wait to read what Zoe comes up with next!!!
** spoiler alert ** Ivy cannot allow others to touch her. Hugh uses his touch to heal. Together they can heal each other. Will Ivy finally find comfort and love? Will Hugh be able to keep his mate and unicorn?
Loved Ivy and Hugh’s story! I thought that these two were so similar that it was perfect. Both craved touch and comfort and finally found it in each other! Great book!
A FABULOUS ADDITION TO THE SERIES & MY NEW FAVORITE !!!
Title: Firefighter Unicorn
Series: Fire and Rescue Shifters
Author: Zoe Chant
Designation: Book 6 of Series, Full-Length, Can Be Read As Standalone, NO CLiffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Sexy Stars*****
**Although this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend, at least, reading the first two books of the Fire and Rescue Shifters Series to avoid spoilers.
Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! I love, love, love this book! Firefighter Unicorn is a captivating addition to Chant’s popular Fire and Rescue Shifters Series, and another perfect example of why I adore Zoe Chant’s passionate prose. I’ve been a diehard fan for several years and I can truthfully say, I’ve never read a Zoe Chant book I didn’t enjoy. Chant is an incredibly gifted storyteller, talented wordsmith, and master of her trade who excels at creating unique storylines and vividly depicted worlds with beautifully detailed descriptions, then populating her creations with intriguing characters that will surely capture your imagination along with your heart. And Firefighter Unicorn is no exception! Once I started reading, I could not stop. I was riveted to my seat, white knuckling my ereader with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the hours flew as quickly as the pages, and it was FABULOUS! Can you tell I really enjoyed this story? lol… Now, I’ll tell you why!
Firefighter Unicorn is an exciting, well-crafted, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, full-length, standalone paranormal tale filled to the brim with danger, drama, action, suspense, fantasy, heartache, passion, and heartwarming romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives but primarily from the two protagonists. Chant also gives the reader an insightful peek into the mind of the heroine’s always-in-trouble, younger sister as well as the antagonist. I know it can be a lot of work, but I adore a book with multiple perspectives. It allows me to know what’s going on inside the minds of other characters, not just the hero and heroine. The dialogue is smart, entertaining, well executed, and flows effortlessly. I’ve loved the entire Fire and Rescue Shifter series but Firefighter Unicorn is my favorite! I was fascinated by the gruff, grouchy, and very mysterious paramedic Hugh Argent when he was first introduced in the first book of the series and have impatiently waited for his story to be told. I think every single fan of the Fire and Rescue Shifters Series, including me, has been trying to guess what kind of shifter Argent is, but Chant has kept it a closely guarded secret – until now – but the title of the book may have given it away! lol… I was also intrigued by the not-so-nice and very frightening wyvern shifter Ivy Viverna who was introduced in Firefighter Pegasus, the second book of series. I was so hoping we would hear from her again and thankfully, we do! Much to my surprise, Chant has paired two of her most intriguing characters in this story and they complement each other brilliantly. This pair of unlikely lovers literally explode from the pages, demand your undivided attention, and completely capture your heart. Although these characters appear in earlier books of the series, this story can still be read as a standalone. However, if you wish to avoid a few spoilers, I highly recommend, at least, reading the first three books before Firefighter Unicorn.
No spoilers from me but I will say this… Handsome, cranky, and always bad-tempered paramedic member of the Sussex County Fire and Rescue Alpha Team who is always standoffish, super secretive about himself, and always has a headache (and with good reason but we finally find out why!)-Check! Beautiful but deadly wyvern shifter with a tragic past who can never be touched nor loved but must protect her younger sister-Check! A menagerie of well-developed characters along with a treasure trove of their mystical animal alters-Check! Danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, angst, heartbreak, and even a sprinkling of humor-check! Malevolent enemies-Check! A Christmas miracle (or several)-Absolutely! Electric attraction, explosive passion, seductive romance and a sweet happy ending-You bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I loved it! This story really tugged at my heartstrings and may have been the most emotional book of the series to date. Ivy was not a nice person when she was originally introduced in the series and Hugh certainly hasn’t won any popularity contests. But sometimes, people do what they must in order to survive and even more importantly, protect the people they love. I’ve always had a soft spot underdogs and Ivy’s life was hard with a younger sibling to protect, but she was loyal and resilient. And for anyone following the series, a reader probably thought Hugh was just a big grouch. When I began reading Firefighter Unicorn, I had no idea where Chant was going with this story and how she could possibly redeem two very seemingly unrepentant characters, which brings me to another thing I love about Chant’s stories. If you read between the lines, there’s always a life lesson to be learned. Most of us, at one time or another, have been guilty of judging a book by its cover, rather than by what’s on the inside. My heart broke for both Ivy and Hugh but neither were very likable, proving once again, don’t judge until you’ve walked a mile in someone else’s shoes. But sometimes, the universe is listening and fate rewards us with more than we could ever dream. It’s just so heartrending but thankfully, Hugh and Ivy do get their happy ending. *sigh* Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain a few dreamy love scenes. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she publishes her next release. Zoe Chant is a gifted storyteller and master of her trade who consistently publishes exceptionally imaginative, well crafted, and exceptionally well-edited stories with unique storylines and beautiful covers. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Well done, Zoe Chant! Well done, indeed!
