Adorned by a dragon
Are you looking for a strong alpha male who gives his all for his lady love, oh and breaths fire? Than this is the book for you. I love the way the author drew us into the story right from the very beginning and continued to increase the intensity until the HEA at the end. I think you are going to enjoy everything about this book, from the laughter to the tears. I know I did. What will this author come up with next? Only time will tell.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I bought this on September 5th
The cover is nice and fiery! Definitely a great cover! This is not the cover than attracted me to the book though. I saw the 2nd book in the series and I tend to collect everything Pegasus and Unicorn, so I had to buy the series 🙂
This is the first book in the series and is about 100 pages long. It is for adults only due to the steamy content.
Okay, this is a quick read, and I loved it! There is adventure and drama all wrapped up in this great read. I don’t want to give anything away because I feel the blurb is plenty to intrigue you. Both Virginia and Dai are my kind of characters who stick to their morals and are protective and loyal. The fire department and shifters are a unique group that you will not want to miss reading about!
I highly recommend this book for a quick awesome fire breathing dragon-tastic read!!
ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING !!!
Title: Firefighter Dragon

Author: Zoe Chant
Designation: Book 1 of Series, Novella Length(123 pages), Standalone Paranormal Romance, No Cliffhanger, HEA
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Captivating Stars*****
Oh my! I love this book! I adore paranormal romance and completely infatuated with dragon shifters so when I get both in one great read, I’m in heaven! And no one does it better than Zoe Chant! I’ve been a diehard fan for several years and can truthfully say, I’ve never read a single one of her books I didn’t enjoy. I know before I read the first line that I’m guaranteed a wonderful adventure and Firefighter Dragon was no exception! Once I started reading, I could not stop. I was riveted to my seat, white knuckling my ereader with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the hours flew as quickly as the pages… and it was FABULOUS! When Zoe Chant puts pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard in this modern day world of technology), it’s nothing short of magical. Chant is an incredibly gifted storyteller, talented wordsmith, and true master of her trade. She excels at creating unique storylines with vividly depicted worlds and beautifully detailed descriptions, then populating her creations with intriguing, larger-than-life characters who will surely capture your imagination along with your heart. I’m not a professional reviewer but I am a retired English/Literature teacher who tends to be quite selective of the authors I choose to follow, and can truthfully say, if you’ve never read a Zoe Chant book, you’ve missed a real treat! If you enjoy well-written paranormal/fantasy/supernatural romance, then I’m confident you’ll love her books as much as I do. But let’s talk details so you’ll understand why I love this story so much.
Firefighter Dragon is an imaginative, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, novella-length (approximately 120 pages), standalone paranormal romance liberally laced with elements of fantasy. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, well-executed, at times hilarious, and flows effortlessly. It is exceptionally well-crafted, developed and edited as are all of Chant’s books. I also feel compelled to mention, Chant’s books have beautiful covers and artwork which always seem to capture the spirit of the story and its characters, and I truly love that about her work. But I think my favorite component of every Chant story is the characters she creates to populate her fascinating worlds. They are captivating, intriguing, engaging, and no matter how fantastical their alter form may be, whether it be shifter or creature of myth and legend, they are still relatable to the reader with the same challenges and heartaches we experience in our daily lives. I was immediately smitten with the two protagonists of this story, beautiful American archaeologist Virginia James, and handsome Welsh dragon shifter and firefighter for the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service Daifydd ‘Dai’ Drake. Dai and Virginia are absolutely adorable together and complement each other brilliantly. Their attraction is immediate, their passion undeniable, their interaction enthralling, and their sexual chemistry is smokin’ hot! Pun intended! Read the book and you’ll understand what I mean! Let’s just say things do get a little heated! lol… I snickered, snorted, giggled and sniffled through the entire book but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, and well entertained. Firefighter Dragon is the first release in the Fire and Rescue Shifters Series and sets the stage for the entire series. We’re introduced to a wonderfully diverse cast of fascinating characters, some of whom will have their own books in the future. I know this because there are currently three more books available in the series: Firefighter Pegasus (Book Two), Firefighter Griffin (Book Three), and Firefighter Sea Dragon (Book Four). In fact, I loved this book so much, I raced back to Amazon to purchase the remaining three. I can hardly wait to dive in! Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! In fact, I loved it so much, I bought it. Please allow me to explain. I have Kindle Unlimited so I could have read this story for free by borrowing it through Amazon but customers aren’t allowed to keep the books you ‘borrow’. They have to be returned and after reading the first few chapters, I knew this was a book I wanted as part of my permanent library so I could read it again. Good books get even better when you read them for the second or third time. Maybe it’s just me, but I always seem to find things I missed during my first read. Chant’s books are all enrolled in the KU program but I still find myself buying them all. What can I say? Yes, they’re that good and I always feel like I get my money’s worth! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does include some steamy, dreamy love scenes. If you love unique well-crafted paranormal stories filled to the brim with danger, drama, action, adventure, lies, deceit, betrayal, angst, heartache, passion, romance and always a happy ending, then Firefighter Dragon is calling your name! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! I can hardly wait to dive into Book Two, Firefighter Pegasus! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Beautiful, curvy, American archaeologist Virgina James has staked everything, including her professional reputation, on her findings that the lost burial mound of the ancient Anglo-Saxon king Brithelm is located near the southern coast of England. After four years of research, two trips to Europe, three preliminary papers, one nearly exhausted grant, and three exhausting months spent examining every square inch of the hills surrounding Brighton, Virginia is finally close to discovering the location … and her latest find, the jewel encrusted gold nose guard from an ancient helmet, is indisputable proof her theory is correct. Unfortunately, Virginia had no way of knowing that unearthing the precious artifact would also summon a malevolent dragon who will stop at nothing to add the discovery to his hoard. Wait… What? Dragon??? Dragons aren’t real, right? Yes, apparently, they are and it seems there’s more than one. But after almost being burned to death by an evil white dragon whose greed proves to be stronger than his morality, Virginia is convinced all dragons are bad, very, very bad. So what’s a beautiful archaeologist to do when she discovers her handsome rescuer Dai Drake is also a dragon and not a dragon hunter as he claims… and that she’s his mate?!? Huh? Oh no! Is Dai just blowing smoke to get his hands on Virginia’s treasure, including her rich curves!? We’ll see!
“A curvy archaeologist with the find of a lifetime + a firefighter dragon shifter battling his instincts + a priceless artifact coveted by a ruthless rival = one blazing hot adventure!” What a great start to a series. Dai should stop over thinking things and let things flow. Love the Alpha Team.
This is a new author to me and boy am I glad I took a chance!! This is the reason I love Kindle Unlimited.
This was a great book! I loved that we got to meet Dai and Virginia and watch their story unfold. We also got to meet the rest of the team and see the different dynamics.
I love how “mates” are used in this book. They don’t turn into complete caveman but yet still feel the pull and desire to protect.
fun read, look forward to next in series
Dragons, accents, firefighters, shifters, and sass
Overall 4 out of 5 stars
Performance 4 out of 5 stars
Story 4 out of 5 stars
Virginia and Dai were just what I needed today. I loved Virginia and her smart wit and sassy. She did not like what she encountered and then she really was putting her foot in it. Dai knew what he had the moment he rescued the curvy American Virginia from the fire on his territory.
For Ash stoke the story. I wanted more of him.
I love Lucy Rivers. She give a performance a lot and I always enjoy her work.
Entertaining read with humor and suspense
Fire & Rescue Shifters book 1, I actually read the first two books of the spinoff series Fire & Rescue Shifters: Wildfire Crew first and liked them so much I decided to come back and read the original series.
I really liked the setup here, both for the general world building (I loved this take on dragons—well, dragon shifters—and their hoards), and Virginia as an archeologist who finds that dragons are all too real. There was plenty of suspense, both waiting on Dai to tell his new mate ALL his truths, and the arrogant rival archeologist who wants Virginia’s find for his own—and isn’t afraid to use his dragon side to get it. There were a couple of great twists at the end, both perfect in their own way—and a good reminder NOT to get on Commander Ash’s bad side!
While I enjoyed this, and there were the touches of suspense and humor along with the world building that I liked so much in the Wildfire Crew books, I didn’t like this quite as much. I think that’s partly because the world gets more fully developed further on, which means more of a background for all the secondary characters, who had a lot of potential but were much more lightly sketched here than the spinoff series. And since characters tend to drive the story for me, I just felt there wasn’t as much story here either.
It’s still an entertaining read, and I’l be continuing on with the series—the preview of Chase’s story had me literally laughing out loud, earning me a few side eyes from my fellas bus passengers —it just didn’t quite meet my expectations. 4 stars
I could not finish this book. I prefer books with romance but no erotic scenes. I stopped at the first erotic section about a third of the way in. It was good until then.
