In this fiery series debut from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Brent, a workplace romance might prove too hot to handle.Still reeling from a nasty divorce, Melanie Cruz’s pride takes another beating when she loses her enviable job at an upscale resort. After a flurry of unsuccessful interviews, she finally—desperately—accepts a job managing a small chain of family-owned … small chain of family-owned pizzerias in a quaint downtown Phoenix neighborhood. The job also comes with Dominic Esposito, her overbearing but ridiculously handsome boss. Falling for him might be the last thing she expects, but maybe it’s the one thing she needs.
As hard as they try to resist, Melanie and Dominic embark on a romance as hot as a brick oven, and Melanie has every reason to believe that maybe, this time, she’s finally found “the one.”
But Dominic has a secret—one even his family doesn’t know. And the scandal could threaten everything he and Melanie have worked for…in business and in love.

I love how close the family were along with their work family. Lots of interesting characters to fall in love with.
This is my first Cora Brent book. I enjoyed her writing and loved Dominic and Melanie’s story. It has a lot of heart and heartbreak. The central theme for me was family and how, whether by blood or choice, you love and support said family. I will be checking out other books by this author.
Just finished binge reading In This Life, Fired & Nailed. LOVED all three books.
Melanie and Dominic are heating things up at in this wickedly sexy and steamy HEA! There is just no other way to spin it, Mel was Fired with a capital F and now she need to find a new job and hopefully live out the rest of her life without being the woman that scarred a nice sweet midwestern family when a quasi famous wedding blew up big time under her watch. When she gets a job as an assistant manager at a family pizza restaurant in the midst of opening their second location, it’s not quite in her wheelhouse, but she is going to give it her all. Now she just has to figure out why one of her bosses seems so off put on first sight. Dom is a grade A control freak, after everything that befell the family business back in NY, he is determined to make the Esposito name shine again. When his brother hires an assistant manager to help them out he knows he will have to delegate and hands things off already a hard task for him and when she walks in and he is crazy attracted to her he is even more screwed. The old adage about not dipping your quill in the company ink is tried and true for a reason, but Mel is tempting him like no other woman has ever done before. Soon their attraction is too much to deny and they soon fall headlong into cooking up more than pizzas in the kitchen. Dom is gung-ho on repairing his family name but will he continue to put the restaurant before love? Who would have thought getting fired would be the best thing to ever happen to a girl!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
I love Cora’s Gentry Series so I was excited to read Fired; needless to say, she definitely did not disappoint with this book. This was a fun, sexy, easy read that I just couldn’t put down and inhaled the words in one day. You will be captivated by the twists and turns that transpire; as well as, the chemistry pull between Dominic and Melanie. The heat these two try to avoid but becomes inevitable will set your kindle or pages on fire. Don’t miss out on another amazing book by Cora!
Wow! Another fabulous read by Cora Brent. The chemistry between sexy, broody Dominic and sweet yet feisty Melanie is hot from the start. A fun and flirtatious storyline that steams up with a dash of angst. Loved the cameo and highly recommend this book!
Melanie and Dom are a sizzling off the pages in fired . A great combination of family, fun, sexual attraction, witty comical sexually infused banter and discovery.
Melanie Cruz has just accepted a new position in an expanding family run pizza business. It is different than what she has previously done but she knows she is more than capable of this new adventure. The only thing that she wasn’t expecting is the brooding , hard headed co- owner Dominic. Sure he may be so easy on the eyes but his gruff exterior leaves her finding it difficult to read him.
Dominic wants to get this extension of the family restaurant off and running and all is going as planned until his brother takes it upon himself to hire a new employee. Melanie is beautiful, intelligent has a savvy business sense and is completely distracting him just by her presence !
If he tries to avoid her and let her do her job they may get along just fine but sometimes fate has other plans! I loved the push and pull for dominance in this story each character wants to be the leader which takes you on a very interesting and fun read!
Loved Melanie and Dominic’s story!

Grief and guilt make push away and try to shield themselves from further loss. But real attraction can’t be denied.
Melanie was fired from her job for a situation that wasn’t even her fault. After receiving rejection after rejection from prospective employers, an old friend from high school suggests applying at her husband’s restaurant, Esposito’s. Melanie is more than qualified for the assistant manager position but it seems like one of the owners, Dominic, doesn’t want her help or even her presence in the new restaurant.
Dominic has spent years trying to rebuild his family’s name in the restaurant business. A bit of a control freak, he doesn’t delegate anything and he doesn’t know how to deal with the immediate attraction he feels to Melanie. Dominic has rules about getting involved with his staff and isn’t looking to break them now.
This story was a slow burn but once the fire caught, it was beyond hot!! The chemistry between Dom and Mel was off the charts but them fighting it made it that much more intense. Just like Melanie, I felt like I became a member of the Esposito family. I can’t wait to see what’s up next for this awesome new series!!
I’ve read and absolutely loved previous books from Cora Brent so I was beyond excited to be able to read and review this book. This book turned out to be an okay read for me. I liked the characters and the storyline. However, as much as I liked the characters I couldn’t really connect with them the way I had hoped. Also, the flow of the story was slower than I expected. There were moments that seemed to drag. I expected so much from this book from having read previous books and it didn’t captivate me the way I thought it would. There were definitely sweet, crazy and steamy moments, but I just felt as if something was missing for me besides the story being slow. It wasn’t a bad read, it was just an okay read for me.
