This series gets better and better.
You know the old saying that the course of true love never does run smooth? That’s certainly the case for Grace & Adam. They can’te ven go on a romantic vacation without stumbling across a murder.
Fire Lake is another fast-paced read that you’ll either want to start when you have time to read until the end, or plan on missing some sleep. You won’t want to put it down.
These two are the best team of detectives I’ve seen in years. I anxiously await their next case at the end of every book. J.C. Paulson brings these characters and these books to blazing life in every book. You just can’t put them down!!!
I love how the author is able to blend true life events with fiction to create a compelling story. There’s a lot going on in this book, and I have to admit that there were times I wasn’t paying close enough attention to what I was reading that I got lost in the many different elements and details. I’m not overly bothered by that though. It meant I was never able to outthink the plot. And in a mystery, that’s one of the things I look for. As much as I love being able to say “ahah! I figured it out”, I adore an author who can give me the necessary clues but still keep me from solving it for myself. I also appreciated that Grace and Adam weren’t behaving so much like tween-agers in full emo angst in this book. Though I was distressed to see that this time even our hero engages in ‘too stupid to live’ actions. Since he’s supposed to be the trained law enforcement officer, that bothered me. However, the number of times Grace almost gets herself killed because she didn’t stop to think – or did and did it anyway – bothered me even more.
Good mystery set in Canada!
This is a really compelling story that absolutely had me biting my nails, on the edge of my seat and shaking in my boots! I could not put this book down until the end. I am looking forward to the next book by this author.

Another fast-paced story from this author. As soon as I had finished book 1, I delved straight into this one, I seem to have missed book 2 somehow so I’ll have to catch that later. This book has the same male and female lead characters, their relationship has moved on and they have a whole new murder mystery to solve.

Once again a great mystery by J. C. Paulson. The story was interesting and was very well written. I like the intelligence and respect with wich the author approached even the most sensitive of subjects in this latest and all her previous books as well.
I really liked the balance between suspense and romance. I loved all the characters, they were very well crafted.
Fire Lake was a fabulous read, I couldn’t put it down.

This third book in the Adam and Grace series by J C Paulson was a most entertaining taut and suspense-filled who-dunnit combined with some intense action adventure. Not having read the first two books did not subtract anything from reading this book, as the references to prior adventures were mentioned only in passing. The characters were very enjoyable and identifiable as they were put through their trials and tribulations as they worked to not only solve the mystery, but also to stay alive long enough to do so. This reader is definitely going to be adding the first two books in the series to his TBR file. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
