Fire In The Knight is the third book in Mobile Intelligent Team series. Honestly, the scenery and setting get more and more beautiful with each book that I literally have feeling I’m traveling around the world along with the characters. Also the books get darker and more intense with fresh, new storylines. This is Donnie and Charlotte’s book and their journey, ups and downs to their HEA.
It was well developed, well written and well thought out. The author knew how to develop, create the storyline and make you fall in love with her words, plot and the characters demanding your attention. It was told in dual, third person POV. It was enjoyable read with so many twists and turns, while delivering an intense and passionate romance / love story between Donnie and Charlotte that I devoured in one sitting. It was steamy, dark and suspenseful romance. Writing just flowed and had me captivated and invested to the story from start to finish wanting to find out what happens next. It was so effortless and poignant. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted it to end. It’s thrilling, gripping, edge of your seat page turner. The characters are brilliant, complex, engaging and so likeable. The villains have their little POV and are portrayed with such intensity that you are literally immersed into their world, psyche and intentions.
Donnie is Information Specialist or Analyst in MIT2 and a former Green Beret. He thinks he doesn’t deserve second chance at love because he already had it. Donnie is loving, caring, alpha, strong loyal, protective and perfectly imperfect.
Charlotte is a farm girl and loves dancing. Her grief takes her and her dance group to Malta to try to enjoy her life and to get over her loss. Charlotte is warrior, fierce, strong, independent, badass, loving and caring.
Donnie and Charlotte have complicated past and relationship. From the moment they met he was drawn to her and their attraction was visible which they both covered with snarky comments and getting on each other’s nerve. Donnie is scared of his feelings for Charlie because he thinks it’s somehow betrayal to his first love. They are passionate, intense, so complex and layered characters. They know they shouldn’t feel attracted to each other, but they do, it’s unavoidable. Maybe they don’t make sense but when they are together – they are just perfect and exactly what they need in order to heal and move on from the scars of their past. I loved their first meeting and their immediate physical, fiery attraction and off the charts chemistry. They are each other’s match. I love their moments and dialogues. They have preconceived opinions about each other but when they finally let on the glimpses and reveal who they really are, they notice that they are similar: just two scarred people who are trying to let go of the past, get over grief and start living again. The epilogue was just beautiful, I wanted to last forever and to never let go of these amazing characters and world.
Secondary characters are intriguing, engaging, funny and incredible. I just love their camaraderie, friendship and the way they have each other’s back. The author also introduced some new characters in this book that I’m so curious about now. I love all the guys but Slater is my favorite. He won me over from his first appearance and his one-liners. I’m so excited for his book. He deserves the best. And wouldn’t it be nice if we get the stories of the rest MIT teams and Atlas’s story too – just saying – lol.
Another thing that I loved about these books is that even though characters are a little damaged or broken and went through physical, mental or even emotional challenges and horrors they came through it all like warriors (with mutual love, support, brotherhood, friendship) and it only made them stronger and more resilient. These couples showed that love indeed conquers all.
Every book in this series can be read as a standalone. They are filled with so much love, heart, effortless, poignant writing with compelling and gripping storyline. It’s so evident that Louise Dawn cares about her characters, plot and storylines which can be seen in her writing, accuracy of events and her knowledge of military terminology. In my opinion it will attract the readers who love romance and romantic suspense mixed with mystery, intrigue, damaged, rugged heroes and strong, fierce heroines. I highly recommend this book and series.
What a read, a read that had my heart pounding and glued to every page as Donnie, an MIT operative goes to Malta when Charlie, a woman who is linked to him through one of his friends in the MIT, needs his help after she is attacked. They have a hate/lust relationship and seem to bring out the worst in each other. But as they run from whoever is hunting her, the two find a medium and their hate turns to more…more than either of them ever expected.
OH MY this is a definite must in the read category if you’re looking for amazing characters, steam…ahem…steam, banter that is spot on, descriptions that make it seem like you are right there, suspense and action that had my heart pounding and a twist in the end I didn’t see coming. This author took me for a ride that I didn’t want to get off of with strong characters in Donnie and Charlie, a man who is lethal in more ways than one and a woman who can hold her own against anyone and want to be best friends with….I couldn’t get enough and I can’t wait to delve into the other books in this series.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*

Fire in the Knight by Louise Brown is the third book in her Mobile Intelligence Team series and having read all but Stain on the Earth and I have to say that it’s the best. This is Charlotte (Charlie) Quinn and Dave (Donnie) Wilson’s story a Frenemy to lover romance.
Charlie Quinn stayed by her father’s side even when her mom and brother left until he passes away from cancer. But when she decides to go to Malta and Morocco with her dance troupe but when someone tries to kill her it will be Donnie and all of the MIT teams who’ll come to protect her in the enemy who may have been hired by someone she knows. A they escape from the desert will they find who put the hit out on her? Can two friends become more to each other even though they scared of Love?
Donnie Wilson is on leave from MIT 2 when he receives message from Charlie saying that someone is trying to kill her. Their first meeting didn’t go well as he was still grieving the loss of his wife to breast cancer but now he knows if he hurts her that his team leader Jamie will kill him. But when the ‘accidents’ keep happening he won’t hesitate to protect Charlie’s from the hired killers. As they race to the exfil location it will be not only eye opening but he’ll have to decide if he can fall in love again or will he let her go.
This is my first read by this author and I’ve now put the previous books on my TBR!
Donnie may be a former greent beret and operative for MIT but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have fears like the rest of us. He lost his wife to breast cancer and he almost followed her into the darkness. He clawed his way back to life with the help of his friends. Whilst visiting Jamie at his ranch he meets Charlotte. Neighbour kid, treated as Jamie’s little sister and a firecracker! She won’t be swayed by anyone and let’s just say there are sparks!
Charlotte likes to keep her problems private. But she takes things to another level! When her father des after a drawn out illness, he leaves her a planned tour through Europe and North Africa. Malta is pretty and she learns lots of things from the locals but she has also gained the notice of an assassin!
When Donnie ffinds out what is going on he and some of his team race to the rescue.
What a brilliant book. I really enjoyed the tense detente that Donnie and Charlie had! Lots of brilliant surprises along the way. Well worth a read!
This was my first read by this author and I loved it so much I went and bought the two previous books in the series So that will give you an idea of how much I loved this book
