Years ago, the skies ripped open and the world was destroyed in fire and ash. Dragons – once creatures of legend – are the enemy. Vicious and unpredictable, they rule the skies of the ruined cities, forcing humanity to huddle behind barricades for safety.Claudia’s a survivor. She scrapes by as best as she can in a hard, dangerous world. When she runs afoul of the law, she’s left as bait in dragon … bait in dragon territory. She only has one chance to survive – to somehow ‘tame’ a dragon and get it to obey her.
Except the dragon that finds her is as wild and brutal as any other…and he’s not interested in obeying.
What he is interested in is a mate.

This is kind of the book equivalent to a starburst. It’s bright. It’s sweet. It’s simple and easy to enjoy. It’s probably not going to win any literary awards, but it’s not pretending to. It’s sheer escape.
It’s the kind of thing my not-quite asleep brain cooks up. It’s just checking safe and happy boxes left and right.
Horrible world of misery the heroine is trapped in…hello 2020! how ya doing? check.
Random occurrence that puts her in the path of a big dangerous humongous dragon man beast thing? Check.
He likes to feed her, eat anyone who blinks at her, make her eyes roll back with copious orgasms, find her safe beds to sleep in, wash her, generally treat her like she’s made of glass and her opinions matter? Check.
What’s not to love? It’s easy. It’s happy. It’s sexy…he has a frilly di*k that’s like gigantic and in his dragon form he’s as big as a house, scorchin’ hot and prone to toting her around in his claw fingers. The heroine was kind of a brat. He rescued her from a horrible life and spent the whole time whining about her sister and how they were too good to become whores like her best friend who used to whore to feed them. IDK. I had some gripes about the treatment of poor whores the world over, but I’m a little bit of a swooner when the big dangerous dragon dude will literally close his eyes for copious amounts on end just to avoid scaring his mate.
if you’re a fan of soul bonds, mating bonds that cause brain-communication, the alpha protector who’s secretly a cinnamon bun (I’m pretty sure he sploodged frosting too), this is worth checking out. Ruby’s writing style is simple. She doesn’t get in her own way. But this heroine wasn’t really my favorite. She came across as mildly judgy and irritable, and not in a funny way. Mostly, I felt bad for Blowjob Betty (an actual character name) and her merry band of whores, and felt like they deserved Kael, the orgasm-inducing, goat-killing gentle dragon) more than Claudia did.
Hot summer read … literally.
I am so happy to have found a fun post-apocalyptic paranormal romance series! I’m already on book 3. Bring on the binge!
Wow. What a great read. Loved the post-apocalyptic setting for this dragon shifter story. A fast-paced, steamy read.
this was awesome. I loved the dragon POV, it was interesting seeing inside his mind while Claudia’s presence slowly brought him back. And Claudia I loved. Her kindness, her strength, her devotion. I honestly think they were very good for one another. Their connection and learning from one another was sweet. And this series seems to prove that just because someone is different, and your communication is not the same, does not mean either is evil. Circumstance and differences mean a lot. And taking the time to understand is the only way.
Fire in His Blood (Fireblood Dragons #1) by Ruby Dixon – This is on kindle unlimited. I started reading the ice planet barbarians, and I wondered what else Ruby Dixon was into. Dragons y’all! I’m loving the dystopia vibes too! Bit gory but very cool! Happy Reading!
I came across this one and the heroine name is CLAUDIA, and well let’s just say I want to be a fiery red head in a apocalyptic dragon romance.
“My Claudia”
“My fire is in your blood”
Claudia is caught scavenging junk outside the Fort Dallas boundary fence and is exiled and used as dragon bait but Kael has other plans for her. I absolutely love the humor and world building we get more of as I read each book.
Each book is a different dragon/human however the plot progresses throughout. You can read as a standalone since there is a “Before” chapter in the beginning of each book but I mean it’s DRAGONS
Fire in His Blood (Fireblood Dragons, #1) by Ruby Dixon. My obsession started with blue horned aliens and a strange planet. Now I am slowly reading my way through all of Ruby’s books. This series is about a post-apocalyptic kind of world and a dystopian future. In this series the earth is destroyed by winged beasts who shift into men and women but have had their minds erased by coming to this strange new world. One thing they; do know is that if they find their mates their minds are eased. Claudia and Kael a funny but sweet courtship as there is total lack of communication and understanding.

I truly enjoyed this story and looking forward for the next one. I love dragon shifters.
5 FIERY STARS!
I think I have mentioned this is the past, but I am so thankful for my KindleUnlimited subscription because Ruby Dixon would be taking all my money otherwise. Her books are an instant 1-click for me, especially this series. I think I am more invested in this one than her Icehome and IPB series. Shocker, isn’t it?
I love the new direction she is taking with this story. Ruby is still including a What has gone on before briefing, but honestly, this book should not be read as a standalone. The storylines are building from the previous book before it, and I totally recommend starting with the first book if you are going to jump into this series. I believe these books are more connected than Icehome and the IPB series – which I am loving! I am so caught up in the plot that I need to know what is going on. And that bums me out because Ruby mentions in her author’s note that she will be releasing these quarterly. But have you all noticed how better these are compared her other series? I really think it is because she is taking her time with developing the story. It’s obviously paying off! I am not throwing shade at her other books, ’cause I LOVE them. There’s just something about these that I am addicted too.
Amy was our loving heroine in this installment. I have loved her from the moment she dropped her panties in the last book. Such a rebel! She is a romantic and a dreamer and I wouldn’t have her any other way. I have been rooting for her since the beginning. Her sister was waaaay too protective of her, and I couldn’t wait to see all that change. Of course, Ruby did something totally unexpected with her character and I adored it!
As for our dragon, it was fierce Rast. I was really hesitant about his character because, at the beginning, he really didn’t seem to compliment her. He definitely isn’t the prince charming type. I grew to love him as he adapted to the changes of being mated to a human. My favorite part about Rast’s character – He remembers a lot more than our previous dragons. And in return, we get to piece together more of what happened before the Rift.
If you haven’t started this series yet and you’re a paranormal lover, you need to get your hands on these! I mean, just look at this beautiful cover!? Doesn’t it draw you in? The story won’t disappoint you either. 🙂

I really love this series and impatiently wait for new installments. They’re a great escape from reality. If you’re a fan of dragon shifters, this series is a great collection.
Fire in His Blood was an enjoyable read. Just imagine what would happen if our world as we knew it was ripped at the seams. Everything has changed. Nothing is safe. Nobody can be trusted. You are holed up in forts. There is a militia overseeing you. There isn’t enough food or supplies to go around. And if you are caught leaving the fort to scavenge for resources you are jailed and punished. Oh, and there are dragons terrorizing the world.
This is what Claudia is dealing with, all while trying to protect and care for her sister and a friend.
Kael swoops in and snatches Claudia up as his. Oh, did I mention that Kael is a dragon? Kael has his work cut out for him because he will have to earn the trust and affection from his Claudia.
I enjoyed watching Claudia stand up for herself and her needs. I empathized with her as she tried to figure out how to get back to her sister. I swooned when I saw how sweet and loving and protective the big, scary dragon was. And I rooted for a way for them to be together and be happy.
I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series. People often love reading about a misunderstood hero… well a misunderstood dragon takes it to an all new level!
I love how unique this series is. There’s not a lot of dragon shifter books out there, so this one had to be good.
I love how the most feared creature becomes the most perfect mate. Such a strong book to start the series with now I can’t wait to read the rest, I simply must know what happens to the other ladies.
Fire in His Blood by Ruby Dixon is my first adventure into the Sci-fi romance genre and I have to say that I was not disappointed at all. I loved the story and the world that Ruby Dixon created. In fact, it was addicting and I jumped into the next book when this one was finished. I love this world and I have so many questions.
Reading some of the reviews, I noticed lots did not like the heroine, Claudia, which was confusing to me. I thought she was super brave and leary with good reason. I mean we are talking about a fire breathing dragon and yes, not a spoiler but he turns into a human type form.
(at least I do not think this is a spoiler, I mean if he didn’t well then it is kind of yuck and places the story in a totally different genre.)
I loved the 2 point of view and Kael is so cool. I mean who doesn’t want a dragon that is “Hot” for you…lol
I totally loved this book and can not wait to see how the world grows and who is dragon napped next!
Texas hugs and Happy Reading!!
1/2 STARS
“Fire in the blood” was a surprisingly delightful read.
I have previously read Some of Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian series and loved them.
This, in my opinion, was on an equal par with them and I do Love a sexy dragon shifter so I was on to a winner straight from the get-go.
This story is set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian future, where a few years previously rifts opened up in the sky and through these tear’s came the dragons.
laying waste and destroying cities, Humanity is in hiding and the worlds gone to pot, everyone’s only out for themselves.
Enter our gal Claudia, after being caught scavenging and thrown into a cell she earns an awful fate.
To be used as dragon bait, to see if she can tame a dragon.
Convinced she is going to be Scooby snack Claudia is astounded when the gold dragon flashes into a human, well almost human looking, he has claws and fangs and a kind of dappled skin and horn-like protrusions on his head.
With an inability to communicate there at a disadvantage.
The dragon “Kael” is his name recognises Claudia as his mate.
And she seems to help hold the madness at bay for him, the madness all dragons are afflicted with since they were pulled through the rift.
Claudia and Kael start a comical but sweet courtship, where he brings her dead goats and spit roasts her meals, he even offers to eat her enemies sweet ay?
Kaels just desperate for his Claudia to give him a chance.
But she still can’t get her friend and sister Amy out of her head, needing to do something to rescue them from there life at the fort.
I found myself smiling a lot through this as these two found their way.
It was lovely just to read some uncomplicated fun romance.
was their slight repetitions and an annoying whiny heroine here, Oh Yes!! but honestly, that didn’t really bother me as Buff Hunky Kael with the dragon heart of gold certainly made up for it.
He was a sexy Sweetheart even in his dragon form, he adored his Claudia and was prepared to do anything to assure her happiness.
Thankfully Claudia got less annoying as the story progressed and by the end I actually quite liked her.
so if you’re looking for a lighthearted read with some sexy shifting and a dragon the size of a bus give this a go, it really was an enjoyable read and a great start to a new series.

This whole series is great and completely sucked me in. I love how the story focuses on the character’s relationships and the “getting to know you” stage which is always my favorite part of any romance novel. I also love that there’s a truely interesting story arc linking all of the characters and novels, and I can’t wait to read Amy’s story. I really have no complaints about this one, which, if you read my reviews you know that’s pretty rare. Highly recommend!
