Jaryn was a typical college shifter until he received a call saying his mom was killed in a car crash. Jaryn became the guardian to his little sister and had to take over where his mom left off. A job at the palace was one of the responsibilities Jaryn had to take with his mom’s passing.
Rhys is the Prince and his parents want him to take over as King, so he has to find a mate. Rhys wants to wait for his true mate, but his parents are already looking at possible candidates.
There was a couple of this I would have liked to have found out in this story. 1.) What wax the relationship between Donavan and their mom? 2.) What was the debt for? The book ended without answer to either question. Mostly, I liked this story. I think this a little like Cinderella, with the way Jaryn was treated because of his “deformity”. Cordelia is a great character with a great balance of youth and sass. I liked that Jaryn’s was able to overcome enough to stand up for himself when it counted.
They are so different as he was from the sea while they are of fire, soon to be king. Life is alright for them both until they are thrown together by the death of one of their family. Can this be the making of them? Where will they end up at? See their adventures

This story is set apart from others because Jaryn gets his prince early on. We actually get details of life AFTER he becomes royalty. The way Rhys goes about courting Jaryn is sweet and practical. I loved the tidbit about the sparklies. Jaryn hoards shiny things so he can watch the colors in sunshine. That was sweet.
The story is told in the third person and that creates emotional distance so it reinforces the fantasy. I sort of skated above the storyline – heh- kind of like a dragon swoops through the sky. It added to the fairytale quality of the storytelling, like a gentler version of Grimm’s. So you will not get a lot of deep, emotional monologues. You will get a sweeping, journey reminiscent of a fairytale.

The two main characters are unique & likable and they continue to develop throughout the story to become emotional strong individuals. The secondary characters play a good supporting role.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. This book was a great love story of how even if your different you still find love. With the death of his mother, Jaryn had to take up debt she had collected. Dropping out of university to raise his younger sister and work off debt. Rhy had been looking for his fated mate for along time when he meets Jaryn he gets his wish only Jaryn is albino sea serpent which mean he has no idea about it. When a rival Omage tries to cause trouble how will the fated pair work out? Will the king and queen believe the lies? Running Jaryn off before Rhys can even tell him the truth, or will the evil omage get Rhys all to him self again? Just because your different doesn’t mean you always weak.
The Dragon Prince Rhys fiinds his mate. He is due to be King soon but he doesn’t feel ready. Jaryn comes into his life and the castle after a tragic event on his own family. Jaryn’s circumstances are so unique, he doesn’t even know he has found his fated mate. He will have to prove he is worthy though. I had fun with this romance, lovable characters, good plot and dragons! But also one species I never read a paranormal romance about.
