One woman. Four dominant dragon lords whose desire is only for her. An enemy that threatens all they hold dear.
War is coming. After hundreds of years of sleep, the ShadowFell Dragons seeks revenge on the Drakoryans, the shifter race that drove them far from the Drakoryan Empire. And this time, the huge night dragons have their sights set on a prize they must not be allowed to claim. They covet … have their sights set on a prize they must not be allowed to claim. They covet the Drakoryan’s humanity, and seek the deep magic, and with it, the key to victory.
My mates seek to protect me from the awful reality, from what’s coming. They urge me to focus on running the household, on pleasing their insatiable sexual appetites. They tell me that war is of no concern for a woman.
But I am no ordinary woman. I am a Fire Bride, and when I learn that human villages are coming under attack, the protectiveness of my mates threatens our bond. I was never supposed to return to the village, but not even an army of dragon lords can stop me from saving those I love.

This story continues the Drakoryan brides story and it is even better than Sacrifice. The ShadowFell are waking up and causing trouble. It is such an exciting story, full of action and emotion. The characters weave their way into your heart and you just want to see them win. A superbly written story that will take you on a journey to other worlds.
This second book starts off a while after Sacrifice as Lyla and her 4 Dragon mates get to know each other better day by day. Lyla is special, in that she has a thirst for knowlege that never ends. She spends her time taking care of the running of the household and all it’s occupants but with her free time, if she isn’t making passionate love with her mates, she is reading every book she can find about their history. Lyla reads about the beginning of the Dragons, how their start came when King Eknor is greedy with too much ambition and takes on the creatures of the Wyld. Eknor destroys everything he comes upon in the Wyld and is confronted finally when he and his sons find themselves desperate and begging for their lives. The Dragons are born and the complicated tale begins. Now, the ShadowFell
are waking up, and war is inevitable, the black Dragons want what the Drakoryans have, their humanity. Lyla is destined to play a critical role in the coming war with the ShadowFell and she spends all her spare time learning all she can about the history and coming events as foretold. This book is filled with adventure as the Dragons keep watch over the skies and
villages, secrets that are being kept from Lyla, new and interesting characters that are sure to have key roles in the upcoming battles and lots of loving between Lyla and her Dragon Mates.
I loved this book! It does have a happy for now ending, but we know that war is coming and they will all have a place in helping to fight it..
I can hardly wait to read the next book, War Bride, that will have the final battle and the matching
mates for the other Dragons that were still unmated
This one picks up a little while after Sacrifice ends. Lyla is mostly adjusting well to being a Fire Bride, but she feels as if her mates are keeping something from her.
Her mates were told that they shouldn’t keep secrets from her and that she would be important in the war to come. But, they just can’t get past the fact that she is their cherished mate and want to protect her. They are going to do that, no matter what.
Ava does really well in showing the problems that come along with trying to fit 5 people together in one relationship, even when there’s a strong love bond. I love that Lyla isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes and to do what she considers right. It takes a lot of strength and courage to do that, and that describes our heroine well.
The back story of the first book is revealed…how dragons came to be. As the mate and her dragons fall deeper into love and passion, New challenges await them. Can be read as a standalone but much better to read first before this book. It was a good continuation of the story and enjoyable.
wow this book is a must read book as the words flow nicely together and will have you hook from the first page.
Book 2, Drakoryan Brides series. Dragons, more dragons, conspiracy, danger, witches, prophecy, and magic! What’s not to love?
We return to the Drakoryan Empire. Lyla, Drorgros, Tythos, Imryth, and Zelki’s anger and cross purposes grow by the day. Secrets and misconceptions abound. No one’s in the dark more than Lyla. She’s the antithesis of the other Fire Brides. She’s can’t placidly accept “her place,” flit around, dream of babies, or whisper endless gossip. She questions everything. Her mates are none too happy with her either. The compulsion to learn Drakoryan history, insatiable inquisitiveness about everything, cause constant conflict with each of her mates. Even Imryth, the scholar, doesn’t understand her reluctance to just accept her role. And Lyla’s far too observant. She’s seen enough to know her mates are hiding things. But what? And why? When Lyla’s had enough and demands answers, even she’s not prepared for the answers. The ShadowFell are coming. They were defeated in the past. They’ve been dormant now for centuries. But they’ve awakened, changed…and NOT for the better. While Lyla’s unaware of the entire truth, the prophecy says she has a role to play in all this. Only what is it? Her mates don’t know. Not even Olin, oracle of House Fra’hir, has any idea. It’s only the witches of the Wyrd who can shed any light, and even they have far too few answers. But the ShadowFell are coming. Just what will it take to stop them this time? Something, someone, will pay the price. But exactly who and what are in the line of fire? The villagers over whom the Drakoryans have reigned for centuries? Their mysterious, reclusive king? The witches of the Wyrd? The Drakoryans themselves? The Fire Brides? Or is it Lyla and her mates who are the ultimate targets? There are no answers. All anyone knows is that the entire Drakoryan Empire is at stake. Every person, regardless of station, is at risk. Lyla seems to be a central focus. What are the Drakoryans, especially Lyla and her mates, willing to sacrifice in the war to come? The answers will determine whether the Drakoryan Empire will cease to exist and if the evil of the ShawdowFell will rule the world forever!
Ava Sinclair has surpassed herself in the second book of this series. Lyla’s still as feisty, obstinate, and uncooperative as ever. She won’t be turned into a typical Fire Bride. She won’t be forced to play out a role predetermined by her mates, even if her defiance angers her mates to the point of near destruction. Despite Olin’s prophecy that Lyla be included in everything, her mates’ decision to keep her in the dark has the potential to upend their lives. But the dragons don’t know their mate or what she’s capable of. Ava Sinclair has taken this conflict and created a story that goes so far beyond a simple erotic reverse harem story. It’s filled with danger, suspense, and the need for every character, both major and minor, to rid themselves of centuries of prejudice, preconceptions, and tradition. A new path must be forged. The future of the entire Drakoryan Empire rests on the ability of all to adapt and change. Ms. Sinclair shows her remarkable talent by bringing minor characters into the forefront of the story. The witches of the Wyrd, Olin, the villagers, and the ShadowFell themselves, all have incredibly important roles in this book. They are the added dimension that makes this story so compelling. The relationships between the brothers, particularly as they relate to Lyla, are still complex. Their flaws are evident. But it’s those flaws that complement each other and create chaos at the same time. It’s apparent they need to work together. Lyla won’t be left out. While these five are the heart and soul of this story, it wouldn’t be as remarkable without the supporting characters. This book is enchanting! Congratulations, Ms. Sinclair! This book is quite simply outstanding on every level. It deserves nothing less than five stars!
A final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
