FIRE BORN — Book One in the Guardian Series Independent, tough as nails, and fierce to her core, Alex Taleisin can’t quite believe it when she has to fight for her life against something not-quite-human in the YMCA parking lot. That’s when her aunt lets her in on the family secret. They’re immortal—Elementals to be precise, and Alex is the long-lost daughter of the strongest female warrior of … strongest female warrior of their time.
Her guardian (a freaking Dragon!) and the sexiest man Alex has ever seen gives her a choice. Go with him, learn how to control her fire, and find her father’s people, or try to survive on her own. It’s an easy choice considering she’s only twenty-six. And the Elders may already be on her trail thanks to the fight with the nut job in the parking lot kick-starting her dormant DNA.
Enter an insane grandfather, a shifter with a hidden agenda, and a witch with a shoe addiction, and suddenly loner Alex is wishing for a quiet house in the hills with the dragon she’s falling for.
But a fight is coming and Alex knows the only way to find her answers is to trust her powers and become the warrior she was destined to be.

Alex Taleisin’s has finally been let in on the secret – she’s an Elemental Immortal plus a little something more and her life is in danger. Guardian of the Races and savage King of the Dragons, Collum Thronus made a promise to protect Alex and find her father’s people. A Battle is coming and Alex knows the only way to get answers is to trust her powers and become the warrior she was destined to be.
The first book in this exhilarating new paranormal romance series has a hero and heroine that are beings of fire, so readers should expect to be burned as the chemistry that flows between is volcanic and the sparks start flying in every direction upon first meeting. Alex and Collum’s attraction is one thing but the relationship has emotions raging out of control as well due to the situation these strong, vibrant characters find themselves in, especially Alex is not really allowed the time it takes to digest her all new reality.
The plot is fast pace and full of exciting events and is extremely suspenseful, keeping readers from being able to put the book down at any time. This story is also a bit complex as it is at the whim of a man who is a little bit insane and the mercy of all his manipulations. This keeps the story on a twisted path of secrets, betrayals and downright hide and seek games. There is no way for readers to become bored during this explosive, thrilling and entertaining story with one sexy dragon shifter guardian and flammable heroine.
Fun and fast paced romantic adventure in an interesting paranormal world where dragons are real, and betrayals and family intrigue can last centuries.
**This an advanced readers copy**
This book was CRAZY HOT. I love reading these types of books. Oh My Word is this book hot, like melt your kindle or hands. So you will read about Alex and how things start to happen to her and she has no clue. Then here comes Collum and OH MY GOODNESS is this guy hot. The chemistry with Alex and Collum is on fire like literally. Alex who is raised in a human world and is introduced to a different world which she has to figure out who/what she is as well as stay alive. Then you throw in her crazy family as well as a HOT GAURDIAN DRAGON, and you get sucked into their world. You understand why Alex is struggling to adjust to this new world, which can be hard to acclimate to when all you know of is being human. She adjust well to get through what is coming. The book has a great story and does hook you when you first start to read. When I finished this book, I wanted more and cannot wait to read the next in this series.
I want more! Ready to read more
I have not read any books on Elemental. So this book is packed with a lot of things I would not expect. But it is awesome. It had me on the edge of my seat and chewing on my nails. Danger, thrill, scary all of it is there. I loved it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I’ve read books with various elements present in Fire Born, but none where those elements were combined in such a unique manner. I loved Fire Born and very much look forward to jumping into Magic Born.
The relationships between the characters are complex and interesting. I find myself equal parts thankful that I wasn’t subjected to any more interpersonal drama than necessary to make the story function, and questioning if I should feel that the conflicts between the “good” characters are too easily resolved. I found Fire Born to match my personal taste, so make of it what you will.
I do with the final conflict had been a bit more climactic. It suffered from Harry Potter Syndrome. The entire book, the reader keeps getting reminded that the baddies are dangerous and powerful, but then they’re defeated by the underdog without much effort.
In any case, I heartily recommend Fire Born to anyone who likes hot witches, sexy dragons, badass elementals, and powerful female characters.
Fire Born is the first book in The Guardian series, and we start off with Alex. She is just a normal girl, living a normal life – so of course you know that everything is about to explode into the unknown for her! And it does, but it brings with it a dragon Guardian, who is incredibly sexy! Collum is very old, and has his own opinions on how things should be. Alex throws numerous spanners in the works simply because she has her own opinions, and won’t change them ‘just because’.
This is an intricate story, guaranteed to keep your interest as you learn, along with Alex, just exactly how her life is about to change. The characters are all three-dimensional and have their own quirks. Mar is a fantastic character and I can’t wait to read more about her. Alex and Collum have a HFN ending, with a promise from Collum. (Why can’t I read his name without thinking of Golum instead?!?!?)
For a first book, there is enough world-building to satisfy, elemental thrills all the way through, and sexiness by the dozen. A very good start to a series, and I look forward to continuing with the story.

THIS AIN’T NO SLOW BURN!!!
Hey guys, if you want action packed, easy to follow read with twists and turns and unpredictable surprises that captures your imagination and holds you prisoner till the end, you just found it. Rayanne has done a phenomenal job with this bad boy right here. Talk about realistic characters and scenes that ignite and excite, yeah, you got it. Grab your copy, a comfy seat some snacks and kick back you’re going to be a while. This is one read you won’t put down until the last word. Unless you’re like me and have to read it a few more times just to be sure. LOL!!! Yeah, I’m evil like that. Great job Rayanne. Thanks for sharing this remarkable read with us.
This book is H O T hot! Dragons, elemental sand shifters oh my! This is a fascinating book with romance, intrigue, betrayal and oh so much more. Alex & Collum have sparks that fly in more ways than one, lol. A great story with twists and turns and some hit romance thrown in. No downside to reading this book!
I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
this book is twisted, have wonderful characters and its original but it is not easy to read
Great start to an amazing series!
Loved the story line and the characters.
Author cannot spell. It’s very distracting. The story and characters are great, but the errors take away from the story.
Need a better ending
I luv the different scenarios kept it moving
Alex finds out she is not human when she fights for her life at the YMCA. Her parents were killed and she lived with her aunt and everyone has been keeping secrets from her. She can control fire as one of the Elementals. Collum is guardian of all the races and dragon king. He is sent to protect Alex but keeping his off of her is a job also. Can they figure out how to keep Alex safe and let her come into her powers?
In a way it was a good story but also it was confusing. Alex was annoying and Collum was too bossy. In the description on goodreads it said the witch had a shoe addiction but I never read anything about it. Sex and action. Secrets. A crazy grandfather and a funny witch.
Fire Born is a fast paced action adventure told from several points of view. I was hooked from the first chapter. This book had me on pins and needles from the first page to the last. I never knew what to expect next. I loved how the author brought the story to life. I didn’t just read what was going on, I actually felt every emotion that the characters felt. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series to see how Alex and Collum’s relationship evolves. I’m looking forward to exploring the relationships of all of the characters and the worlds they live in.
The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I gave this rating an extra star just because the ending was satisfyingly epic. But, the rest of this book was all over the place. No one would react to things like Alex did, she spent a great deal of this book being annoying and TSTL. I mean, she had just been told by her Aunt Quinn, Collum, and Domhall all about how she had enemies who would do anything to separate her from her protectors and kill her, but she decides that all just doesn’t apply to the nice Neerem from her dreams?
And then there was the whole thing about her not being prepared for this new world that she finds herself in. She has little to no control over her abilities, the people who are after her are experts at their own abilities, her protectors ate the only things keeping her alive, and yet she is such a “strong woman” that she is constantly putting herself in needles danger to show that she can take care of herself when she really, really can’t.
Overall, I hated and had no respect for Alex and her tantrums, and it pretty much spoiled everything else. While I found the side characters to be entertaining, I have no desire to read any more in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A start to a new series called The Guardians and I know I want to read the other books in this series. A well written book with a storyline that grabbed my interest from the start. This is Collum Thronus, Guardian of the Races and savage King of the Dragons and Alex Taleisin’s story.
