She’s engaged to a man with a promising future. But even as she makes plans to say “I do,” another man is hoping that she won’t….It wasn’t easy for Lacy Jordan to watch her best friends get paired off one by one, while she was still single and toiling away at a low-paying job. Maybe that’s how she ended up engaged to her mother’s chiropractor—a man who looks good on paper, but whose stiff manner … whose stiff manner and controlling ways leave Lacy cold.
When steamy-hot glass artist Daniel Reed rescues Lacy from a dicey situation, she finds herself feeling things for him that she’s never felt for another man. But Daniel’s reluctance to accept her love—and everything that comes with it—means he’s the one who needs an adjustment, before both of their hearts are shattered.
FIRE AND GLASS is the fourth book in Linda Seed’s Main Street Merchants series. Read the books readers have called “absolutely fantastic,” “wonderful,” and “funny and emotional.”

This is the fourth and final book in the Moonstone Merchants series, and I had been eagerly waiting to read Lacy’s story. This book did not disappoint. Lacy’s story did not play out as I expected, which made it even more interesting and fun for me to read. When I read Linda’s books, I feel like I’m reconnecting with old friends, and as she developed this series, the characters grew in depth and the dialogue also became very real and strong.
As I’ve said in my other reviews, if you want to take a quick escape to the Central Coast, these are the stories that will transport you there.
This is the fourth book in this series. It is the first one for me. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. There were some humorous parts that I couldn’t get enough of. Once the dog comes on the scene the tone of the book changes. It becomes lighter and funnier. My other favorite scenes is when the ladies are discussing how men and ice cream are similar. That just cracked me up. Chunky Monkey or Neapolitan…I hope I can remember this! Seriously this is a favorite moment.
This is my first book by this author. Again I enjoyed her story and the characters. I did listen to this on audio. Avie Paige did a great job. Her scoffing and little additives helped put this story over the top.
I very much liked this book and the flow of the story. The characterization was great! I could really relate to Lacy’s dilemma in the situation with her fiance and her mother, feeling trapped, kind of sucked into something she didn’t want and not sure how to get out. I also loved the jerkishness of Brandon, that was SO well done! I wanted to haul off and smack him. I was totally rooting for Lacy and Daniel!
Interesting characters. An overall good read.
Lacey is a free spirit who yearns for a family and a domestic life, while working in a coffee shop in a small California town. She’s engaged to a rigid minded CPA Brandon. She encounters Daniel, a local glass artist, and her life starts to change. This is a mild, pretty sweet romance that many will enjoy.
Disliked this book. Stupid!
I feel like the main male character had an awkward beginning and didn’t seem to be a natural part of the book. A simple little love story,
The title doesn’t give the impact as much as reading as the glass is created! Another can’t put it down read!
Realistic, thought provoking. It had you to think about what you see is not always the way it is. Good read, excellent writing.
Not gripping. Never understood the male lead character’s objections to getting together with the heroine. He seemed immature. An ok read.
Good read & nice to hear beautiful people have it hard in relationships too.
This book is a bunch of “hogwash” that never should have been published. It goes against all belief in my Lord Jesus Christ.
Since this was a later book in the series, there may be some character building not evident to readers of this book as a stand-alone book. I just could not get into the characters. The H is supposedly a successful artist, but he thinks only about making money and how pretty the h is. I have never met an artist who wasn’t obsessed with their art. This character would be more believable as a bean counter. The h only has extraordinary physical beauty to recommend an otherwise blah character. She’s not confident in herself, particularly kind to others, hardworking, ambitious or has any particular passion. The mom is shallow and only interested in seeing her daughter catch a solvent husband — which might be a practical concern, because h shows no sign of taking care of herself. The writing itself is fine, and the plot is so-so. But I have no idea why anyone would care about either H or h.
Another interesting read, the male character is unusual here.
It’s was an OK book. Not interesting enough to buy the second book though. Skipped a lot and I’m not normally a skipper.
I really enjoyed this story. The hero is a glass blower. It gives you a lot of insight as to the making of glass – a dying art. It compares his work with some that is in the Bellagio in Vegas. It is worthwhile to Google that and see what the story is talking about. It is funny, has a great dog “Z” and a list of side characters. A good read as the glass blower and the local barista come together to find a HEA. it is a stand alone read. Very entertaining
