One shared look across a crowded club, and their worlds collided.Their attraction had been instantaneous and hotter than the fire burning in his soul. But Blake Stone didn’t do relationships. Relationships meant emotions, and he didn’t have the kind a woman would want.Or need.Anger, greed, lust, bitterness, hatred—he had in spades. But a woman like Gwen, she would want more. And if he wanted to … Gwen, she would want more. And if he wanted to keep her, he’d need to reveal his secrets.
Secrets that could send her running.
Because she’s playing with fire, and he knew damn well how badly it burned.

Blake and Gwen were meant to be but these two definitely don’t have an easy road toward their happy ending. They have to overcome obstacles and also inner demons, especially Blake in order to be together and happy. There were times I wanted to smack Blake so hard but then I would feel sorry for his inner struggle with his feelings towards Gwen and thinking he wasn’t good enough for her due to his horrid father and his actions that occurred when he was younger. He was definitely a man worth suffering for because when he did admit to Gwen everything, it was like a blossomed thanks to her love and non-judgmental attitude and I loved that about her too 🙂 An amazing couple, both with flaws who together make each other whole get their deserved happy ending <3
The author, Sarah Curtis has once again given us an incredible read and I can't wait for the next one 🙂
With Fire, Sarah Curtis took me on an emotional rollercoaster. She delivered a beautiful, heartfelt, scorching hot, must-read contemporary romance with a strong heroine, a tortured hero, and plenty of sexy moments.
Gwen has a strength that I admire. Her ability to understand, to forgive, to love . . . is vast and beautiful. Because of this, Gwen has become my favorite of Ms. Curtis’s heroines.
4.5 “I want more heroines like Gwen” stars.
Can I just say how much I adore storylines with heroines that act rationally and more like a PERSON rather than a character in a book. That was Gwen; a mature 20 something female with a real job that she actually showed up for and factored in her relationship decisions. She was so straightforward with no game play (and I mean that in such a good way). I. Love. Her.
Blake was the quintessential broody, mysterious and damaged hero who falls for Gwen almost against his will. From the very beginning you can see him making decisions that showcase his need for Gwen over his need to protect his secrets. Of course his progress and growth are haphazard and stumbling, but that just allows Gwen’s character to really shine. The two of them together was a wonder to read and I really enjoyed every moment of it.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Fire is the name of a trendy nightclub in LA owned by Blake Stone. He is a handsome playboy who only does one night stands and never repeats. He doesn’t do relationships, has never had one. But when he locks eyes with Gwen across the room at his club, he feels something different. Gwen is unlike anyone he has even been around before. He does what he has never done, he pursues her.
Blake and Gwen try dating. It’s all new to Blake. He is in uncharted territory. I didn’t like his behavior. His anger and jealousy was over the top, and when he ghosted on her with no explanation, that was inexcusable. Gwen let him get by with too much without calling him out on it. I understand he had reasons for a lot of his quirky behaviors, but to hurt someone you love is not all right.
All that aside, I did love that he couldn’t let Gwen go and they did have a strong connection. Their sexy times were so hot and steamy, and they seemed to just have fun together. Gwen’s father was a hoot with his jokes, had me laughing out loud! I was glad to find them at the end of the book! And Gwen’s friendship with Allie was so special, I’d love to see a book about her.
This was a very enjoyable book and I give it a 5 Glowing Stars! One click it and settle back for a good time.
Gwen hasn’t given up on finding love, the heart pounding kind of love. She spots a man in the nightclub Fire who gets her attention like no other. He looks at her and its like everyone else disappears. Too bad he disappears into the crowd. Blake doesn’t know what it is about the dark cinnamon haired woman that caught his attention but he has no intention of letting her escape. When he jams his foot in his mouth at their next meeting, he has to work hard to get her to go out with him. Feelings aren’t in his wheelhouse unless you are talking anger or lust. Gwen feels so much when she is with Blake but is it enough to break through his walls? This book was recommended to me and I spent the day with these two. I couldn’t stop reading, I had to finish it! Blake is so closed off, he barely has a pulse. Gwen is so open and wants to explore this connection they have. She isn’t however a doormat, she calls him on his behavior. He is possessive from the get go and gets a little stalkerish. He cannot break free from the past until he is almost too late. Gwen is so perfect for him, it definitely feels like fate brought them together. Fire was absolutely amazing, so well written I lost myself in the pages. I had never read a book by Sarah Curtis until today but she is definitely going on my list of authors to autobuy. Six stars for Fire!
Gwen agreed to a night out at the night club called Fire. She sees Blake Stone from afar and something ignites but Blake isn’t the type to have a relationship, he is a one and done type of man. Blake knows though that Gwen is something special he wants to explore but he doesn’t know how to navigate what they are building and has a propensity of mucking it up. Can Gwen find the patience to allow Blake to learn how to be the man she deserves or will she get burned instead?
Chemistry off the chart for this book. I was surprised at how Blake had no clue how to deal with Gwen as more than just a one night stand. I thought this element added a vulnerability to Blake’s character which I really liked. Smoldering read.
Blake overcame an awful childhood and became the owner of a poplar nightclub called Fire. He is afraid of emotional attachment to anyone until he sees Gwen in his nightclub. He instantly knows she’s the one for him but is worried he’s not good enough for her. The fire that builds between them is real. You’ll understand why his nightclub is named Fire. Blake put out one fire in his life and started another. This book is very well written and kept your interest waiting for what would happen next
Holy smokes…. this book gave me all the feels. I read it in one sitting and that is sating something.
Sarah Curtis you lady know how grip a readers attention and then have them glued. Obsessed and enthralled.
This book is not your average love story. Its nail biting, deals with real issuses which ignites such emotion from us.
Blake and Gwen are Phenomenally well written charaters. Their story is hard at times and times when you wanna slap Blake. Their chemistry is instant and on FIRE. They were so meant for each other. Gwen fought hard to bring down Blake’s walls and I’m so glad she managed it. I aslo didn’t blame hin once we got his full story. My heart broke for him so much. When Gwen healed and took care of his pain it made my soul sigh.
This book was beautiful beyond words.
I hope you all grab it now.
Enjoy!!!!

Fire by Sarah Curtis is a wonderful read about Blake and Gwen. Blake owns a nightclub that Gwen is at with her best friend. They make eye contact across the club floor and can’t stop thinking about the other. Blake tracks down and pursues Gwen and WOW does the story get even better from there!
I really enjoyed this book! It was an emotional, sexy and hard-to-put down read. There was so much chemistry and connection between Gwen and Blake. Gwen was very relatable. Blake was tormented with no idea how to be in a relationship. But how much Blake adores Gwen – “Sweetheart, your smile alone is worth it” – Swoon! You don’t want to stop reading about how they come together and form a perfect match.
As always, Sarah Curtis delivers an awesome read that you’ll want to revisit over and over.
I am constantly on the lookout for books that have that intense, jealous and protective alpha but written maturely with a mature storyline. This is one of those books. I really loved everything about Blake and Gwen’s story.
I usually gush all over the hero first but I think Gwen deserves first attention. She was amazing! I’m always frustrated with how heroines respond to heroes in certain situations, but not with Gwen. She reacted just as I wanted her to every time. Instead of having fits or demanding things or whining, she looked at the situation like an adult and gave Blake the benefit of the doubt. She was fantastic!
Blake is very closed off. He’s broody. He’s never put much thought into women. Until Gwen. He has a few frustrating moments but I’m glad they happened so that we could see Gwen shine. Despite him not knowing how to be in a relationship, I never doubted his feelings for Gwen. It made his coldness bearable.
I want more books that have couples like this. What a great read!
Holy fireballs! I never expected this story to entail all the feels that this one did! I’ve read and loved everything by this author but I she’s never written a hero like this before and I absolutely LOVED him!
When a girl’s night out leads Gwen to seeing the dark man standing in the middle of the hottest club in LA, she’s disappointed that he’s gone in the next instant. A VIP invite opens the door for a chance to find him but instead, he finds her. She soon realizes that he’s more than just his good looks and she wants so much more from him than one night, but the mysterious Blake Stone has secrets that are interfering with them building anything meaningful.
Blake is definitely a man of secrets. Lots of secrets. Add in the fact he’s never been in a real relationship and he’s kinda all over the place as to how to act or respond to the issues popping up between Gwen and himself. Even as he pulls away, he’s drawn back to her time and time again. Ultimately, he’s going to have to make a decision to either share his past, or let her go completely.
”If he couldn’t allow himself to be with Gwen, he’d make d–n well sure she was safe. And if his jealousy got in the way, so be it. Gwen was his. She belonged to him, even if he couldn’t claim her.”
Gwen was a strong independent heroine that knew when to stand strong against Blake and his actions. But she also recognized that this was all new to him, and allowed him a certain amount of lead way when he pulled an A hole move. I loved that she had that perfect combination of strength and softness.
Oh my gosh! This hero is so different than anything I’ve read before and I was consumed by it all. I love a strong possessive alpha and while Blake is certainly all that and more, his own struggles rode him hard and forced him into decisions that were hurtful to not only Gwen but to his own heart as well. There was never a doubt where his heart lay, even when he didn’t realize it himself.
This author is known for her easy laid back reads, laced with a bit of drama, and characters that you feel like are your friends. This book shows us an entirely new type of hero from her. He’s hard, broken, and sometimes forceful in his actions. His past has created a man unable to understand the simple steps of a courtship and his reactions to that uncertainty often cause serious issues between this couple. And through it all, I absolutely loved him.
”A fire filled his chest, but it wasn’t the kind that caused damage. Gwen had extinguished that fire that had burned in him. No, the flames that flared now were filled with hope.
Hope and want and love.”
The chemistry between Gwen and Blake is sizzling as are the smexy times they share. The pace is fast and never bogs down or repeats itself. I was amazed and shocked at the conflict and revelation that is finally revealed. Add in a great epilogue that takes us forward into time a few years, and I was a very happy reader.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a broken hero and some push and pull with their romance.
4 stars. This was a good book! Fire is Blake and Gwen’s story. Blake owns the club, Fire, that Gwen’s best friend drags her out to. They make eye contact across the club and can’t get each other out of their minds. Blake pursues Gwen and, even though he doesn’t think of himself as a relationship guy, the two of them can’t stay apart. The more time they spend together, the closer they become, but Blake has secrets divulge before he and Gwen can be together for real.
This book was really good. The story was simple, but Gwen and Blake had great chemistry and banter. Gwen was a very likeable and relatable heroine. Blake was hot and mysterious. He had strong feelings for Gwen, but was holding back from letting her knows all of his secrets. He has no idea how to be in a relationship and he screws up a lot. He is jealous, possessive, and sometimes rude or bossy. But it is obvious to see how much he adores her and he learns along the way how to let Gwen in and to treat her the way she deserves. The two of them were magnetic and made a perfect match.
Overall, the book was entertaining and sexy with some angst, and moments of humor and sweetness. I enjoyed this book so much I had a hard time putting it down. I look forward to more from Ms. Curtis in the future!

I really enjoyed this story!!! Gwen is out with her friend enjoying a night out dancing. While at the bar she looks across the room and her eyes connect with this amazingly good looking man. She can’t look away and neither can he. From that very moment weather they realize it or not the connection was made that night between them. Blake is a close off broody man who has no time for relationships. There is something about Gwen that gets underneath his skin and he can’t seem to forget her. He doesn’t do romance at all but for Gwen he is willing to explore the feelings that no one else has stirred up in him but her. Gwen was so good for Blake….she didn’t put up with his crap but also was patient with him as he fumbled and bumbled his way in the beginning and lord did he ever lol! I really enjoyed their story and would recommend it to all. A great story by this talented author and I can’t wait to see what comes out next. Well done!!!
Another hit from one of my favorite authors!! Fire by Sarah Curtis had pretty much everything I love in a contemporary romance. Gwen and Blake’s journey towards their happily ever after was filled with so many emotions, heartbreaking internal thoughts and sexy sexy times. Blake is the quintessential Sarah Curtis’ alpha male that I absolutely adore; a man who automatically knows who the woman is to him and does whatever he has to to claim her. Don’t get me wrong, Blake has some major issues that causes some bumpy roads, but with Gwen by his side I knew their ending was going to be awesome. Gwen was just plain awesome. I loved how she just seemed to understand Blake and give concessions to some of his butt-head actions. She was definitely not a push-over, she had such strength and compassion and the ability to forgive that I was in awe of her. And that ending plus the epilogues, the best ever!!!
In fire you meet Gwen and Blake. Gwen is truly the good girl, she stands on her own two feet doesn’t expect a man to swoop in and ever save the day for her, but she also believes in love and is looking forward to finding it one day herself but is also happy to enjoy the ride while she waits. Blake is the essential broody, moody, alpha that gives you ALL the feels. Gwen and her roommate in one of the hottest nightclubs Fire. Gwen continues throughout the night to make eye contact with Blake and the chemistry already is through the roof from the very start.
Gwen is full of excitement, someone you want to be friends with just because she knows how to have fun, but also fully enjoy lazy Sunday’s in front of the tv in her pjs all day. Blake is this sexy, alpha hero, with secrets a mile deep. He’s never been in a relationship but wants to try to make this work with Gwen. He knows he probably can’t keep Gwen forever but still there’s this pull between them that neither can deny even though they both know it may end in heartbreak!
This book is full of twists and turns, will keep you on the edge of your seat and not able to put it down until you have officially unraveled everything and found out all the secrets! And is definitely worth the wait! The chemistry between these two is unreal, the characters are realistic and there are several laugh out loud moments to savor throughout!
This was a hot combustible sexy read about Blake and Gwen. Loved their instant connection. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this thrilling sexy intense story. What Blake went thru was complete hell and how he turned himself around was amazing. Gwen was the light to his darkness. Loved this story and I can’t wait to read more by Sarah Curtis.
S
Review Wow! So good and so well done! This is a roller coaster ride, but so worth it! Gwen and Blake learn a lot from each other. I don’t want to give anything away, but everyone needs to hop on this train when it’s released. 5 stars all the way.
This book is so good!! Loved it so much.
Beautiful contemporary romance.
Sarah you scored with this book
Gwen..loved her so much. She’s an
amazing heroine. She’s strong, independent and knew how to handle Blake’s insecurities.
Blake is Alpha through and through. Possessive, jealous, protective and broody. Loved him even though I was frustrated with him a few times.
He has secrets and I was so intrigued..
I won’t go much into the book because I don’t want to spoil it for you. But I highly recommend this book.
If you’re a fan of jealous, possessive and protective Alpha males, this book is for you.
