The Casella Cousins Novella 3: FinnHe prefers older, sophisticated women who know what they want. Or at least he did, until he begins to see his assistant in a different light. But she’s done with her stupid crush on her boss. Done, done, done!Finn Casella was always the shy, reticent one in the midst of the lively, outgoing Casella cousins. When he was young, he liked books and writing more than … books and writing more than he liked people. Now a successful independent bookstore owner in the heart of New York City, he’s settling into his life and wants to get back to his unfinished novel.
Millie Morrison worked her way through a college degree in literature and a Masters’ Degree in business by supporting herself with her job in the bookstore. She’s generous and sensitive to her friends and customers. But each overture to her boss has been met with cool professionalism. Well, she’s overcome harder things in her life than unrequited love.
Can these two people, with more in common than they realize, forge something new out of his emotional baggage and her starry-eyed optimism? Some interesting plot twists will keep you guessing and rooting for them to make it—together.
Look for cameo appearances by the O’Neils, who own Bailey’s Irish Pub on MacDougal Street.

All they do is butt heads but Book Store owner, Finn Casella, is starting to see his store manager in a new light and he’s not sure what he wants to do about it. Millie Morrison has had a giant crush on her boss for years and she is done. She wants to get him out of her system and just do her job. These two are perfect for each other but haven’t quite figured that out yet.
This author has done a wonderful job in telling a beautiful story about family togetherness, loyalty, love and laughter. I enjoyed going along with Finn and Millie through their journey to happy ever after. The plot is strong; the characters are likeable and there are really good supporting friends of the couple who help round the story out quite nicely. I loved how sweet and loving Millie grandparents were. Ronan showing up was a plus for this story and I am intrigued at learning what has been going on in his life. It was also nice to get a peak at what characters from book 1 and 2 are up to. Finn is a great addition to this series.
FINN ..Kathryn Shay
We meet Finn proud of the bookstore that was his dream and accomplishment. . Has a domineering mother, while he is an introvert.
Noticing a flyer in one of the windows which won’t do, a sign for the needy, a soup kitchen. Instead of Millie apologizing she was glad he said it was too small for people to see. He couldn’t understand her volunteering so much,.With her helping to manage the rare book section she didn’t have extra time. She has loved him for a number of years ,still he doesn’t notice her., she is generous, and loving. When he noticed his thoughts were lingering on Millie, but wondering what could he do, he created a wall, and didn’t let people in. Good plot of someone who has achieve success and lonely in his world. Could two opposite people come to love one another.
Beautiful story , with a strong female. Given ARC for my voluntary review
Finn is not an easy character to like or love; he is angry, and that anger rolls off him in all his interactions, particularly with Millie, his store manager and the woman that’s loved him for years. The Finn in this book, though, has a back story we didn’t get in the others in which we’ve met him, and said backstory goes a long way to making him more relatable. This book is full of family dynamics, particularly dysfunctional ones, and I found it impossible to stop reading once I’d started. Do I feel Finn got off lightly? Yes, but I understand it. And I can’t wait for Ronan’s book – I think the revelations there will be jaw-dropping.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Finn’s bookstore assistant has been getting to him more than usual lately. He’s not sure why, but when she appears be dating a new guy, it sparks something suspiciously like jealousy in him. Now he just has to make sure Millie knows he wants her, and that she reciprocates his feelings. He has a feeling she does, but when she up and quits, he starts questioning them.
When a new threat to the success and ownership of his bookstore appears, it might overwhelm anything Finn and Millie are developing between them. Will Finn and Millie ever get on the same page at the same time?
I was really excited to read this one, as I liked the previous cousin’s story, Seth. Unfortunately, this one is more like the first cousin’s story, Hayley, in its old-fashioned tone and not very exciting or memorable or likable leads. I found both Finn and Millie boring and stodgy. And the tone was seriously vintage. If Finn hadn’t mentioned streaming something to watch and catching Uber rides, I’d have thought this was set in the 70s or 80s, it was that old fashioned. The heat level is almost negligible because their chemistry was practically non-existent. Not to my tastes at all, unfortunately
I was lucky enough to receive an uncorrected proof of this book. I am really enjoying this off-shoot of the Hidden Cove series and learning so much more about the Casella Cousins. This was Finn’s story, obviously. He and Seth have always intrigued me from the other stories. The writing style makes it very easy to breeze through and enjoy these stories. I like that the reader is learning about how these characters think and feel and how they are on a road of self-discovery and healing because of the people they fall in love with. I feel bereft at the end of these stories; wanting to learn more about what comes next for the characters. I feel that it is all building up and answers will come up in later books.
This is the 3rd book in this series and is Finn and Millie’s story. Finn has plenty of emotional baggage, and prefers older and more sophisticated older women, and he is the owner of a well-known bookstore. Millie is Finn’s store manager, and she has secretly loved Finn, and he pays her no attention until the store’s survival is in jeopardy, and they work together to try and save it. This is a well written story which is intriguing and entertaining. I was hooked throughout and look forward to reading more form this author whose work I recommend for all readers.
Katherine Shay has once again written a wonderful book. The Casella Cousins series tells the stories of various members of the family. This one is FINN, a bookstore owner and confirmed bachelor who realizes he’s in love with his long time employee, Millie. Their story is complicated by the pending purchase of the store and the block it is situated on. And of course, other family members show up. The reader gets involved with the families and doesn’t want to stop reading all of Shays’ books.
4.5 star Review Finn (The Casella Cousins #3) by Kathryn Shay
I have been thoroughly enjoying the novellas in The Casella Cousins series from Kathryn Shea. This is the third book in the series and is Finn and Millie’s story. The writing was strong, with characters that were easy to relate to and a story line that you cannot help but become invested in.
It’s taken forever for Finn and Millie to act on their feelings but once they did the chemistry and connection between them was intense. Finn, in previous books seemed a tad standoffish and I knew there must have been a reason. I adore Millie, what a sassy, feisty loving woman she is and just the one to lead Finn on a merry dance and that just added to my enjoyment of the story.
This was an entertaining read that ticked the boxes for me and I am excited to see who is next in the series.
This was the third book in this series. I have loved the last to and was curious to see where Finns story would go. To be honest, there were times I wanted to slap him haha I love watching all these stories evolve and keep up on previous books. I am really looking forward to book 4 and loved the surprise in Finns story! It was a nice, quick read!
