“Hathaway House: Finn (Book 6)Welcome to Hathaway House, a heartwarming military romance series from USA TODAY best-selling author Dale Mayer. Here you’ll meet a whole new group of friends, along with a few favorite characters from Heroes for Hire. Instead of action, you’ll find emotion. Instead of suspense, you’ll find healing. Instead of romance, … oh, wait. … There is romance—of course!” … course!”
Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love.
Navy SEAL Finn MacGregor arrives at Hathaway House not only with half of one leg but with a stoma, one that necessitates the use of a colostomy bag. While it’s nice to once again see his old friend Dani Hathaway and her father, the Major, it’s tough to feel like the least sexy man on the face of the earth. Especially after he meets the pretty nurse in charge of his care …
Fiona Smithers has seen practically everything when it comes to the human body, and Finn’s physical problems don’t faze her. Emotionally she’s wary though. Once before, one of her patients had confused the gratitude he felt for her as love. … That scenario left Fiona devastated to know her friendliness had been misunderstood. Whether deemed love or friendliness, those emotions directly effected that patient’s initial healing and then his setbacks of body as well as of heart and of mind, making her more determined not to run the same risks again. Yet, this time, she may not be able to help herself. She wants Finn in her life on a permanent basis, but, after seeing his obsession with her in his artwork, is that even possible?

I enjoyed every minute of “Finn”, book six in the must-read Hathaway House series by Dale Mayer with unforgettable characters and an emotional story about healing and romance. I loved the attraction and clean romance between Finn MacGregor, an injured Navy SEAL and Fiona Smithers, the pretty nurse in charge of his care. Ms. Mayer never disappoints whatsoever and I’m looking forward to more from this gifted author. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. I also purchased a copy for my keeper library.
I have read the entire series that is avail. Cannot wait for the next one.
While the format has become predictable, enjoy this series and learn something from each one.
this is the 6th book in the Hathaway House serie and they are all amazing. Another wonderful book of romance and healing. Both Finn and Fiona had been wounded. One was physical and the other was emotional. I received a copy via Booksprout for an honest review
Finn is the sixth book in the A Hathaway House series, it is a standalone story with no cliffhangers. These stories are amazingly well-written and really packed with emotion, the characters are incredibly likable and have plenty of heart. Really enjoying this series.

Finn by Dale Mayer
Hathaway House Series Book Six
Finn MacGregor has been hesitant about going to Hathaway House. His friend Elliot has been urging him to come for some time. And Dani, who runs the center, is an old friend that would make room for him for sure. And she did, the minute he decided it was time to go to the next step in healing.
Fiona Smithers is relationship shy. Her last relationship didn’t end too well and then, a misunderstanding with a patient at her work added to that. So, when Finn becomes one of her patients…and maybe more…the old memories come out to haunt her.
Hathaway House is a healing place for veterans and animals. Each helping the other heal in their own way. Life isn’t easy for these wounded warriors. They have to work harder than ever to get ready to face life again. Great series!

Another heartwarming story in the Hathaway House series. Finn and Fiona were great together, they had some rocky moments, but in the end managed to find their HEA. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Finn has known Dani since well high school, she offered him a bed at Hathaway House when he was ready and after talking with Elliot he is ready, maybe. He arrives and is amazed at the place. Pastures, animals, literally and a Vet Hospital downstairs for the animals as well as the Rehab upstairs for the patients.
Fiona a nurse at Hathaway House has been on vacation and was trying to get settled after a patient took her caring demeanor for more than it was on her part. She finds herself feeling for Finn what she has not been able to feel since finding her fiance and best friend in an embarrassing encounter.
These books in the series are so different but basically pretty much the same. The injuries and abilities are different and the use of various rehab technics is great. I have learned a lot about the different aspects and I love learning new things.
Ms. Dale Mayer has another hit, Thank you so much for all the great books

Sometimes you just need a sweet romance with no drama or hysterics and this one delivers. A story between Finn, an injured SEAL who has to adjust to his new life and get through his limitations while his body heals at Hathaway House, a place that helps vets. He meets a nurse, Fiona, and their spark is immediate, the warmth from her and her ability to help puts Finn at ease and aids him in his acceptance of his new body.
I liked these two as their friendship easily slid into something more. I enjoy the no drama and heartwarming relationship as well as all the other characters who make up Hathaway house. A perfect read to put a smile on your face and an enjoyable sweet read with great characters all around.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I look forward to these books by Dale Mayer as they are the kind of books that help get me out of a funk when I need it. This book was so heartwarming and made my day when I read it. I started reading the book and couldn’t put it down. The interaction between the main characters is so real and makes you wonder if there is really a Hathaway House for our vets. If not, why? I know it takes funding but the good it would do our vets has got to be well worth the cost. This type of book is the best to read if you love romance, true to life stories. I loved every minute of this book and look forward to the next book in the series. Thanks Dale for making my day!

I fear we may run out of girls soon with all these alpha males coming through Hathaway House but this is a military romance so what the heck! Just kidding, I’m sure there will be plenty of females available. Normally I don’t read books that tug on my heart strings however if I chose to do so then I want it written by Dale Mayer who knows just how to handle matters of the heart. (I am a nurse so am familiar with the tugging thing!)
Fiona recently has had an upsetting experience with a patient who felt he was in love with the pretty nurse who helped him so she is on guard to never let this happen again. Finn, a Navy Seal, has come to Hathaway House to further his healing and is fighting a battle of his own due to the loss of half his leg, the acquiring of a colostomy bag and other issues after a horrendous injury in the service. He is quite honest about how he feels as a man facing the world again with these problems. Hathaway House is a perfect blend of people to help with adjusting to a new life.
This story deals with problems that can also be seen in everyday life and it does a really good job sorting through the things that can happen to anyone. Strong on love, loyalty and honor, this is another great story.
Yet another great read in this series. This time we have Finn, who is friends with Elliot and Dani. Having been injured with little muscle in his back and other problems, Finn is just trying to get some sort of life going where he can be Mobile and do some things for himself. Fiona Smithers is a nurse and is still trying to get over a patient who tried to make out he was with her in a relationship. The patient was ousted from Hathaway house but Fiona still feels a little guilt over it although it was not her fault. As she and Finn start to has a bit of a relationship, her asking about his drawings of her start warning alerts that he may be like the other patient and she starts to distance herself. A bit of an emotional in parts and you could feel the pain from both of them. Can Finn get back to his sketching and can Fiona realise that Finn isn’t like the other patient. An all round good read from start to finish. I can’t wait to read Gregory’s book. Although all stand alone it’s nice to read them in order so you know who the characters are.
We met Finn briefly when he urged Elliot to go to Hathaway House, at the time he was recovering from his latest and last surgery. He really wanted to see how Elliot did before he committed to going.
One thing we didn’t know then is that he is friends with Dani and when he makes he makes the call, he’s in. As is always true, Finn’s injuries and the approach to therapy are different. Some of his issues stem from his having a colostomy bag, it was life saving, but the position of it and the function it serves is an embarrassment to him.
When Fiona meets Finn, she is a delight. Open and honest she doesn’t pull any punches. She’s not only part of his team, she also frequently helps out with the animals in the Vet Clinic. Her initial interactions with Finn are both fun and informative.
As Fiona works with Finn she finds her attraction to him growing but because of things that happened previously she is very wary of her feelings. Something she find the animals help with.
Finn finds himself more than a little attracted to Fiona and he knows he needs to find a comfort zone with his own body.
It’s quite the interesting journey for Finn and Fiona, balancing the personal and professional. There’s also Finn’s friendship with Dani that puts and interesting twist on things even though Dani and Aaron are solid and engaged.
I loved seeing Stan the Vet, he does so much and with the new additions of an Appaloosa named Appie and his sidekick a llama named Lovely, plus some difficult cases we see a new side to him. I think he needs a book. Did I mention the puppies and the injured Mom?
Then there’s Danny from the kitchen, he seems to be everywhere and knows what everyone needs nutrition wise. I’d like to know more about him as well.
I truly love the entire process that we witness in these books, from the first day to almost the end of a stay.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I absolutely love this story .

Beautiful sweetness, thats the absolute best words to describe this book. I love how Dale Mayer pulls you into her books. It consumes you.
This series just gets better and better. What a lovely heart warming and emotional story as Finn battles to recover from his horrific battle wounds. His nurse Fiona shows him kindness, encouragement and care as he works his way to better health. They realise that they have feelings for one another and how their relationship develops is written with great skill and empathy to make this a beautiful story and one I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend.
Accepting a New Normal
Finn has waited a long time to be ready for transfer to Hathaway House. He is almost ready to try again for a prosthesis on his missing lower leg, and his ability to sit or stand up straight is compromised by the loss of a significant amount of back muscle. Yet, his biggest worry is how people, especially women, will react to the colostomy bag that may well be a permanent part of his future. He and Dani were friends years ago, so her acceptance of who he is now doesn’t really give him any assurance. His nurse, Fiona, no stranger to patients using a variety of devices, is very open with him, even teasing him about getting a bag with pretty designs as a way to normalize his need for it. As is usually the case in a book of this type, both Fiona and Finn feel a special caring that they are wary of disclosing to each other. Wanting to help him find a healthy outlet for his closely-guarded emotions, Fiona learns of Finn’s artistic talent and gets him a sketchbook and his favorite pencils and looks forward to seeing what he does with them. He declines to show her the sketch he’s been working on, but she inadvertently gets a brief glimpse of it — a woman’s face – and she is devastated to think he already has a special woman in his life. As she endeavors to step back to a strictly professional role, Finn’s recovery seems to slow. OK, now it’s your job to read the book and find out what happens. I absolutely love these books and the characters in them.

Old friends, past experiences both good and bad comes out to play. An old fashion love story from start to finish, friends to life partners enjoy this story which has both old and new friends both human and animals showing how some old fashion ways do work. Is creating a new partnership between Finn and Fiona showing both the wins and headaches while they move forward. Some old hobbies are reintroduced with both good results and brings heartache for Fiona. Together Finn and Fiona work together towards a future together.
Another wonderful book in the Hathaway House series.
Finn has so much to work through, after his injuries and all the surgeries. Fiona is a dedicated no nonsense nurse, and she’ll help him but only if he is helping himself.
I loved the book, and just wish it was longer.. I got so caught up in the story, I was sad when it ended.

I just love this series about injured Vets and this awesome recovery centre, it sounds peaceful and magical and with the trained and friendly staff for every type of need these guys have its no wonder that they not only improve and look to their futures but also find someone special to do so with. I can understand that after so much time in hospital and surgeries the need for this is so important. With different health issues come a mix of new insecurities to overcome and not just the missing limbs. For Finn its finding a level of acceptance in himself and his problems and not just how others may perceive him as lesser or ugly now. The animals are a big help because they just want fuss and cuddles, but in getting that they also give calm and love to those that need it. These stories feel quite real, the health problems are very much what injured military suffer and the treatments most likely used, I could only hope for special places like this for them to get the help they need to move on with their lives, dealing with the depression can be just as deliberating as the physical and places like this could reduce the suicide levels quite a lot. I find this series very inspirational and love reading the progress that the characters make, I do hope we get updates on earlier characters as the series continues, I would love maybe them joining to offer advice or just give a talk to other patients on how they cope and overcame their own issues in order to help new patients.
