A great well written murder suspense in the Sweetfern Harbor Mystery series. This entertaining fun mystery has humor, mystery, adventure, and more fun quirky characters. Brenda and her PI husband solve another murder of a guest around the Christmas season. I voluntarily read and reviewed this great mystery fun ARC.
“Finishing the Game” earns 5/5 Secret Santas…Clever and Entertaining!
Wendy Meadows has a very entertaining writing style and her Sweetfern Harbor Mystery series is delightful. At 90+ pages, “Finishing the Game” is a short read easily finished in one sitting, but it’s not short on entertainment. I knew starting with book 15 I would have missed a lot since much undoubtedly would have developed with the characters and their personal relationships, however, I was surprisingly engaged quickly and not at much of a disadvantage after a few pages. It’s Christmas and her vivid descriptions left me yearning to get out my own Christmas tree and start decorating…LOL! The mystery is clever using a Secret Santa game Brenda Sheffield decided to host with her B&B guests. The game, meant to be some holiday fun, turns murderous when one guest receives distinctly different gifts from two Secret Santas and then later is found dead. Brenda and her detective husband collaborate well to uncover the why and who of this crime with a very creative final solution. Wendy used a third-person narrative to tell the tale, and although not my favorite perspective, I greatly enjoyed her style, humor, and wonderful characters I am eager to read more about!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Finishing the Game is the fifteenth book in the Sweetfern Harbor Mystery series. Ahhhhh this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I just absolutely loved getting to go back into this world and see all these amazing characters. I will most definitely be reading the next book in the series.
Christmas Murder Mystery!
Another intriguing adventure for Brenda and Mac. As Sweetfern Harbor’s Festival of Lights Holiday Celebration unfolds, a murderer uses Brenda’s Secret Santa game to stalk a guest of the Sheffield B&B. A wonderful combination of heartwarming characters, suspense, twists/turns, family drama, and great HEA. Enjoy!
I received an advance copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
This is another one of my favorite series from her. Life and the friendships at the B&B well the whole town is special.
It’s Christmas and Brenda wants to do something special with the guest. Which was do a secret Santa gift exchange. As the exchange started one of the ladies thought she may have a stalker and when she winds up dead.
Brenda is now trying find out what went on in Olivia’s past and why someone would kill a sweet and beautiful woman.
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.
Wendy Meadows has done it again! I love this series and this story does not disappoint. Having the main characters also be detectives is pretty cool. It shows that not all the officers of the law can’t keep up with regular people that decide to figure out a crime. Although, it’s also what I love about cozy mysteries! I truly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend reading it.

There is a lot going on at the Sheffield Bed & Breakfast Inn. Bryce and Jenny’s baby is due around Christmas and a whole new group of guests is coming. There is the Christmas Festival in Sweetfern that brings in people from all over. The guests arrive and everyone seems pretty nice except for one, Carter Sanders. He seems a bit ‘offish’ to the rest of the group and even his ‘friend’ Julia Carter who comes with him. Brenda tells everyone that they had a Secret Sants game planned and all the guests are willing to play. There is one person, Olivia Torres, who seems to be getting more than her share of gifts. But not all of them are nice. Some are mean and threatening. Who would want to do this? After the Christmas Tree lighting, someone finds Olivia’s body in the woods. Why? What could she have done? She hasn’t even been in Sweetfern for ages. Can Brenda and Mac find the killer and why? Is the baby going to be a Christmas present or will it make an early arrival? You will need to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed ac copy of this book from Booksprout

Finishing the Game, a Sweetfern Harbor Mystery series by Wendy Meadows, is an enjoyable afternoon read. It has a great blending of murder and suspense with a touch humor. This is only my second book in this series by Ms. Meadows, but that didn’t seem to be a problem. It was easy to jump right into the story and get to know these well developed characters. The twisted mind of the killer, the intrigue and suspense made this a good mystery.
Brenda, the owner of Sheffield Bed & Breakfast, has her hands full with the arrival, any day now, of her first grandchild, the B&B’s annual participation in the Christmas Festival of Lights Parade, and the arrival of new guests at the Bed and Breakfast. Brenda decides to organize a Secret Santa event to help her guests get to know each other. Soon, this Secret Santa event takes a bad turn. One of the guests receives two secret gifts each day. One gift is a love poem, the other has disturbing vibe. Then, one of the gifts turns dark – a threatening message that could ruin her life.
When she is found murdered, Brenda and her Police Detective husband team up to find out who murdered her and for what reason?
You are sure you know who the guilty person is, and then you turn the page and now you’re not so sure. You keep going back and forth until the big reveal. This entertaining cozy murder mystery earns 5 stars.

What makes a good story? A great plot, and this book has a great plot. There are many twists and false leads that keep you guessing throughout the story. Love following Brenda and Mac and their family and friends on their journey’s throughout this series. Loved each and every book in this series and this one was one of the best yet. Really enjoy getting to know Sweetfern Harbor. Wendy Meadows has a real talent for telling a story that keeps you interested and wanting more.
Christmas is coming which means tree lightings, Secret Santas, singing carols and murder? Brenda, the owner of Sheffield Bed & Breakfast is eagerly awaiting the newest set of guests as well as the arrival of her first grandchild. Unfortunately, the wonderful season is marred by an ugly murder so Brenda has to split her time investigating and taking care of her guests. I absolutely love the characters in this series and the B&B guests are always an interesting addition to the story line. I highly recommend this incredible series by Wendy Meadows!

It’s Christmas time in Sweetfern Harbor and just when it looks like it will off with out a hitch there is a murder, the difference this time is that it is someone a few of Sweetfern Harbor know! I think because the victim was close to some of those I have grown to love from all the other books I felt a lot more invested in finding the killer and there were some great red herrings to throw you off a bit, I had a bit of an idea but as it all unfolds there are some good twists!

It is an entertaining mystery in the Sweetfern Harbor Series which I recommend.

Who knew that a simple game of Secret Santa would lead to murder? The Secret Santa game was intended to be a simple game of introducting strangers to each other as they stayed at the bed and breakfast. It turned out to be so much more. The latest book in the Sweetfern Harbor series was written in a way to be read fairly quickly. The pacing of this book was different than others that are in series. In this case, different is good. I am thoroughly enjoying this series. I like how Brenda and Mac work together on police matters. It speaks volumes of the respect and love they they have for each other.

This is a great cozy mystery to keep the reader intrigued. The main star is Brenda who owns Sheffield Bed and Breakfast in Sweetfern Harbor. With the Christmas season approaching, she decides to organize a Secret Santa event, hiding gifts throughout the bed and breakfast, which would certainly keep the guests entertained. But not all of them were having a good time when Olivia received TWO secret gifts – one of them very creepy from an apparent stalker. A threatening message to ruin her life added to her discomfort, but she hesitated to go to the authorities without knowing more. Her delay was unfortunate. Finding her murdered, Brenda and her husband, Mac, team up to find out who murdered her and for what reason?
The story line will pull the reader in as they try to figure out who would want to murder Olivia. The characters are well-developed and likable. To add a little more tension, Brenda and Mac are awaiting the birth of their grandchild, due at any time, while their daughter, Jenny, keeps right on working alongside her employees. Things are going to get very busy soon!
It is Christmas time in Sweetfern Harbor and Brenda (and her staff) are looking forward to the holidays at the B&B. With Brenda’s step-daughter ready to pop with the first grandbaby, this holiday is going to be extra special. As new guests arrive at the B&B, Brenda invites them to join in on a secret Santa event as well as the events happening all around town. When one of the guests starts getting gifts that are threating and is soon found dead, Brenda feels the need to get to the bottom of things. Nothing, not even murder, is going to ruin this special holiday.
This is another delightful and well-written book in the Sweetfern Harbor Mystery series. With amateur sleuth Brenda helping out her police detective husband, you know there is a madcap adventure to be had. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with quirky characters, a bit of humor, lots of mystery and adventure, then this book needs to be added to your “must-read” pile.
