Celia Burrows thought she had it all¿a handsome husband, two successful children, and a gorgeous beach house on the Northern coast of Maine. But her perfect life cracks apart when her husband of thirty years informs her that he¿s leaving. In a note. And since problems come in threes, her adult children reveal they¿ve both been struggling with issues of their own.
Before the separation, Celia … separation, Celia was the main caretaker for her elderly father, but as her sisters step up to help in the wake of her troubles, neither of them takes to the role. Being tethered in Bluebird Bay is a nightmare for Anna, the youngest, whose passion for travel photography has taken her around the world. And Stephanie has struggled ever since her husband died in a freak boating accident a couple of years ago.
As Celia begins to come to terms with her own shocking loss, she¿s surprised to feel a giddy sense of freedom. For thirty years, she¿s buried her own dreams in support of her husband¿s vision. But that was the past. It¿s time to pick herself up, dust herself off, and create a better, more fulfilling tomorrow. Now, if only she can convince the other people she loves to do the same…

I really enjoyed this book! This was the first book I’ve read by this author and as I finished the book I wondered how I had never read any of her books previously. I thought the author did a great job with the characters – especially the 3 sisters and their family dynamic. Celia, Anna, and Stephanie are sisters with very different interests and personalities, but when one of them is in crisis they all band together. This book had a nice blend of joy, heartbreak, mystery, and humor…along with an appearance by David Hasselhoff! I will definitely be reading the next book in the series and also look forward to reading some of Denise Grover Swank’s other series.
I LOVED it!!
“All you can control is you.”
This is one of those stories that you start reading and just cannot put down. Why? Because it is “laugh out loud” funny and also sad at the times.
Celia comes home one day and finds something completely unexpected from her husband of thirty years.
Though she could have crumpled and ended the novel here, she did not! This is that story!
Definitely a quick read that would be perfect on a quiet day!
A book that will pick you up!
Celia Burrows has just returned from a 72 hour trip with her girlfriend Jackie that was meant to relax and recharge her. Upon her return her life was turned upside down her husband of 30 yrs left her a note saying he Just didn’t love her anymore and had the nerve to take custody of her Dog. With the help of her sisters and children she finds her way and brings the return of Cee-Cee BN (before Nate) With putting herself first she helps her family find their way through tough times. She finally has the courage to follow her dreams and finds love again with an old find. You will laugh, Cry and smile. Finding Tomorrow is a quick refreshing read. I am new to this Author Denise Grover Swank, I wont to thank Author and friend Christine Nolfi for suggesting this Book
Finding Tomorrow was one of the first Denise Grover Swank books that I’ve read that didn’t have a ton of action and mystery. Instead, this story focuses on a group of sisters around 50 as they help each other through changes in their lives.
Although calmer than her other novels, I definitely did enjoy this one. Like I say about all of her books, Swank has a way with writing characters that are believable and lovable. These characters are not in my age bracket, nor have I been through the same things they’ve been through, but I can see them being relatable for people who are/have.
I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next in the series so I can figure out what’s going to happen with these loose ends!
Love all of her books. Don’t miss this one.
Just finished this book and all I can say is wow. This was another amazing book. I love how the story is about Celia, how she overcomes the obstacles thrown at her, and the fact she has an amazing support system through her sisters. She finds herself and finds her happy. Very well written. I’ve preordered the next one!
This is a fantastic beach read! All of the characters are over 40 and trying to find their “ever after”, and not just in love. The authors did a tremendous job of not just writing a love story, but they wrote a story about finding happiness in family and careers, apart from a partner. And as always, Swank leaves the reader thinking about a little mystery for the next installment…there is a mysterious letter to be decoded. I can’t wait to read more!
Denise Grover Swank and Christine Gael have written a wonderful story filled with heart, soul and lots of love. The town of Bluebird Bay is home to Celia, Anna and Stephanie, 3 adult sisters that have very different lives, interests and back stories.
I enjoyed every one of the sisters and liked watching them change and grow. There are some pretty solid home truths in this story, if you’re open to seeing them. They aren’t driven home but instead the truths are gotten across very gently as the story unfolds.
This book was Celia’s story and about how she chose to move forward after being left shell shocked by her husband. It was nice reading about sisters that were there for each other, helping to support and care for the others. This small town is like many others where everyone knows your business and which boy was your first kiss, but that’s what makes these types of books so fun.
I’m very much looking forward to the next book in this series. I’m sure it will be just as good as this one!
Finding tomorrow is a wonderful, refreshing surprise. It was so nice to have main characters who were closer to my age. It seems most main characters are early 20’s to early 30’s in the majority of books. But those lucky enough to mature know that as we age we learn so much about life and ourselves. Anna, Cee-Cee, and Stephanie are three sisters who are tackling real life adult situations. CeeCee is finding that she has lost her true self in a long loveless marriage, Stephanie lost her husband in a tragic accident, and Anna- forever the wild child- is starting to entertain the idea of slowing down and settling down. They are also trying to take care of their elderly father. Best yet- these woman still have feelings of yearning, lust, love, youth while they are parents to adult children, business woman etc. completely refreshing and a wonderful story!
So I’m a huge Denise Grover Swank fan and she usually writes YA type books. So when this book came out…I was a bit skeptical. Boy was a I wrong! I loved the characters in the book, it’s just given me hope for when I hit my fifties! The hardships of becoming a middle aged adult and also the beautiful things. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an easy, light read.
What a phenomenal book! I love the characters, I love the plot, I love the whole nine yards! This book made my heart swell with love! It’s nice the characters spoke their mind and didn’t hold back. It’s nice to read about characters that are mature. I loved reading how Cee-Cee grew into herself. We need more books in this age group. I can’t rave enough how amazing this book was. It was the perfect ending to a Monday morning for me. I feel happy. I’m (im)patiently waiting for Finding Home!
Grab a cup of tea or coffee and curl up to read this sweet, gentle book about a woman that actually is relieved, even though caught off guard, by her husband leaving her after having a full life with grown children. With the help of her two sisters, she grabs the opportunity to find herself again after living a life that catered to someone else’s idea of who she should be. The gentleness throughout this book, even during the minor disagreements between the different characters, gives us a way of looking at adversity as opportunities instead of catastophes. We could all use s bit of that in our lives.
You will love Finding tomorrow. The character life doesn’t go as plan. But shows that life does go one. You can accomplish anything with friends and family. A must read for sure
Celia finds out life isn’t perfect after all. Her husband leaves for a younger woman, her daughter quits her job and her son has relationship problems. What is a woman suppose to do? To top it off, her father is forgetting things and her sisters aren’t any help.
This is a great story and start of series. I highly recommend it.
Celia and her sisters are everything! I love them, flaws and all. I want to be as classy as Celia when I’m dealing with all life’s crisis, I want to be as fun as Anna, and as calm and stoic as Stephanie! This book had heartache, tears, laughter, love, and drama. I feel like I’ve been to this tiny town, hung out at the beach, and have known these characters my whole life.
I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Holy guacamole that was a very confronting and emotional story, I will be honest and say I considered giving up after the first chapter as then ending of CeeCee’s marriage hit some really personal notes for me but after getting my anxiety under control and taking a walk I came right back to Finding Tomorrow and I was so very glad I did.
3 sister’s all facing life’s trials and growing stronger even through that hardest times.
The more I read the more I fell in love with Cecile, Stephanie and Anna and the town of Bluebird Bay and omg I still want to strangle both Nate and Amanda but in the end, they deserve each other, I honestly hope he remembers one day what he threw away.
Small town judgmental busybodies are bloody everywhere…lol, seriously people should just learn to keep their opinions to themselves.
I have not read a lot of true romances lately because they just seemed the same thing young people with way too much drama but Finding Tomorrow was different and refreshing it reminded me for one thing never to give up hope, open yourself to change, if something happens to pick yourself up dust yourself off and take a new direction, now I want more books like this one, books that have a gorgeous spark to them and more than a dash of hope and lots of icing on top of the cupcake…lol
Omg, I thought the fire was going to be the shop and I’m thinking wow that’s taking a high school grudge way to far…
There was just the right amount of drama for me without it being over the top so basically, it was more mature and I really appreciated that style of writing a lot.
I finished the last page with a contented smile on my face and thoughts of Anna and Stephanie’s stories.
This was a fantastic read! 3 sisters; one widowed, one divorced , and one wandering in life. They pull together in that sisterly love every girl wishes they have. They take steps to move on to the next part of their lives. It is an emotional ride of heartbreak, pride, determination, and lots of love. Everyone fears change in their lives but these strong women show the courage to do it anyway.
I found this book to be refreshing. It was something different for me knowing that the main characters where older. I found myself forgetting that they were older women and was reminded when they would mention their age. This book was very empowering and motivational for the reader. It helped remind me, as a reader to go after your dreams and who cares what other people think. Let it go and be happy! I found the sisters all different and I came to love them as a whole as well as individually. I enjoyed the multiple point of views in this book and I laughed out loud so many times. Hoping for more!!! Don’t let the age of these women put you off reading this book. I loved it!
Something completely different and not the usual story from Denise. I find it refreshing. I also see it as a new audience that she will grab a hold of. When I started this book, I went in blind. I read the first chapter and there were a lot of similarities that happened in the book that happened in my life. I found myself reading it and relating to some of the issues that were going on. I could see my mom as the main character in the story because that is the same thing that happened between my dad and her. This is a book about starting over and finding who you really are. Find your dreams and follow them.
This is a series that I am looking foreword to reading. There is nothing that Denise can’t write. Everything thing she writes is gold!
