Finding The Way is a young adult, paranormal friendship read, with a little hint of a romance in the future. A great opening to the Evergreen series by Cat Hughes.
Diane – a red fox shifter, was taken from her parents and held captive by someone who wants her powers. All hope of escape is lost, until a wolf shifter is captured and promises to free her.
Joe is that wolf shifter. He is drawn to Diane from the moment he sees her, but why?
What they discover is something truly special.
I love paranormal reads and normally they are heavy on the romance, it was so refreshing reading a paranormal and it being more about friendship.
I can’t wait for more from this series and the mother daughter writing duo.
This is my first YA/PNR shifters book and I wasn’t sure what to expect or if I would enjoy it but I have read some of Anna Edwards books and really loved them so when she teamed up to co-write with her daughter I thought I would give it ago.
Well I have to say that I really enjoyed it and it kept me wanting to read till the end.
Great characters! A brillant story plot. Very well written.
I was pleased to find out that there is more to come, so I will be definitely reading them.
I’m really glad I gave this genre ago and definitely will read more PRN.
I highly recommend this book.
I enjoyed this story. It is a creative, well written story. The characters are connectable and made the story realistic. I had a hard time putting this book down once I started it. This book could be read by any age and be enjoyed. I highly recommend this book.
This paranormal YA book, written by a mother and daughter combo, is a really fabulous read. The story follows a group of young magical characters who are pulled into a darkish world of kidnap, manipulation and murder.
The alternative reality is vividly described, and the characters are diverse and relatable. The story is told from the two MCs perspectives and has plenty of action and pace as well as humour to lighten some of the darker moments.
There is young first love, but it is essentially a captivating adventure story with evil and good doing battle. Although this is a standalone story, it is also a great start to what looks likely to be an an addictive, must read series with interrelated plots and characters… I received an advanced copy of this book from the author
Joe and his friends run in the woods but are captured and imprisoned. Diane has been in captivity so long memories are unclear. There is an evil conspiracy that threatens all, and the focus is on a specific prophecy. Finding The Way was an intriguing novel and the beginning of the Evergreen Series, which I enjoyed and will be reading.

This YA PNR was incredibly enjoyable. I thought the story and characters were very interesting and had a uniqueness to them. This read was entertaining and provides an excellent start to this new series. A compelling combination of drama, emotions, secrets, mystery, action, friendship and potential romance has you quickly immersed in this intriguing world and eager to find out all you can about these characters. I found Diane and Joe very likable and even though it is early in the game, I felt it was easy to feel and see that spark of attraction zipping between them. My heart ached for all that Diane has had to endure, while my mind searched for answers and my pulse raced with thoughts of what is to come for both these characters. I can’t wait for book 2!
I loved these characters it was action packed with so much real emotion and mystery you never knew what was going to come next. I love the powers it was unique and kept my attention having to find out what was coming next.
These are new authors to me writing their debut book together and I couldn’t get enough of it. I love the fact that a mother and daughter teamed up together to write a story. Diane is caught in the middle of a shifter war and and unbeknownst to her she is the key to ending it all. She meets Joe and the pieces fall into place. Joe is special also even though he is a wolf among cat shifters. He doesn’t know who his parents are but a nice couple has adopted him and years later they open their home to Diane also. She is putting Joe and his entire clan at risk and she doesn’t even know what Lucas wants with her at first. She’s nothing special just a fox shifter, but oh how is she is wrong. She is stolen from her family, caged in deplorable conditions until Joe and his two best friends rescue her. Then the mystery is solved of why Diane was caged. Can Joe, in time solve the mystery of her hair’s specialness? Will they both have a special place in the prophecy of her blood red hair? I can’t wait for the series to continue! I highly recommend this book!!
I really enjoyed this story. It’s a great angle on shifters and I like the world that is building. I enjoyed the characters a lot and like the changing point of view throughout the book. This is a great start to the series and I hope that we get to see all the characters grow as the series progresses.
Finding The Way is a paranormal YA and the first book in the Evergreen series. This book is filled with shifters, magic, witches, mystery, humor and so much more. There are many interesting characters and the story pulled me in from the first page until the last. I look forward to reading the rest of the Evergreen series.
Loved the story, the way you go on the journey with the characters amazing. Can’t wait to read more story’s about this mother/daughter duo

Finding the Way is the debut novel from mother/daughter team Cat Hughes. This is an extremely engaging paranormal adventure. Diane has been captured, and then is rescued by Joe and his friends. The story continues to play out with a villian who is determined to use Diane to increase his power and destroy humans.
I really enjoyed the characters, and the story line. Perfect for middle grade and YA. I can’t wait to give a copy to my 11 year old daughter. I am sure she will love it.
