This is a Kindred Tales PLUS novel–95,000 wordsA warrior has a choice to make: Rescue the woman he lovesOr complete a quest to heal himselfWhich will he choice? You’ll have to read Finding the Jewel to find outChloe Deems is a plus sized girl with pink hair and an attitude –she owns her curves. Which is one reason she’s so upset when she gets abducted by aliens and forced to live in a Smart House … and forced to live in a Smart House designed to make her lose weight. She has to weigh in every day and the smart-aleck talking scale decides what she’s allowed to eat which is always lettuce and celery and never the delicious Thin Mints she can see peering tantalizingly out from behind the unbreakable glass cupboard in the kitchen. To Chloe, it seems like things just can’t get any worse…until a prospective buyer comes to look her over.
Tark is a Beast Kindred who has been on the outside looking in his whole life. A debilitating stutter has kept him from finding a mate or settling down. Finally he gets a prophesy from a priestess telling him to seek for an elusive jewel which can cure his voice and Tark knows just where to look for it—in the house where Chloe is being held prisoner. But instead of the jewel, he finds a feisty, gorgeous plus-sized girl who’s ready to fight for her life. He agrees to rescue her if she’ll help him look in the only other place the jewel might be—the Resort of Resonant Oneness, located deep underground on a planet that straddles the lines between dimensions.
Chloe agrees to help the big Kindred out in return for her freedom but she doesn’t know that the resort they are traveling to has some distinctly erotic ideas about “oneness.” Now she and the huge Beast Kindred are stuck doing some incredible embarrassing and intimate exercises that make even the brash Chloe blush. Still, she and Tark seem to be growing closer…until a monster from her past kidnaps Chloe.
Tark is given a choice—between rescuing the woman he has come to love, or completing the task he set himself in the first place and regaining his voice.
Which will he choose?

A fun, sexy read. And much better than the normal book in this world. Loved the crossover bit with the Alien Mate Index universe. And I seriously liked Tark. I was impressed with the lack of unnecessary plot devices and just enjoyed myself.

I appreciate that this Kindred story has a non-traditional hero. While he is big and strong like others in his group, it is good to know that there is an exception to every population, just like humans. There are many traits the Kindred USUALLY have, but not all are alike. Just as not all women are alike. These partners’ varying strengths give each other support as needed which make them a good fit for each other. This is another factor I like about the Kindred stories is the nuggets of wisdom they illustrate to enable readers to see what healthy relationships could be like and give those that aren’t in one somewhere to start. In this particular episode, Ms. Anderson uses the absurd to tackle the practice of “fat-shaming” and the concept of weight in regards to overall health. Thanks.

This is a wonderful series, with characters you will fall in love with. I stayed up all night to find out what happened. I can’t wait for the next book.
Ahhh… I love, love , LOVED this book!! I’ve always been a huge fan of the Kindred series and one of the reasons why I love it is because the author isn’t afraid of writing about main characters with differences. Not everyone is perfect. We aren’t all size 5’s. Everyone has scars and imperfections of some sort. Some people have a disability, they may be blind or deaf and some people have survived abuse. What I love about this series is that the author doesn’t shy away from creating heroes and heroines that readers can relate to.
Chloe is a plus sized girl who is kidnapped by aliens. Commercians to be exact, and if you’ve read the author’s AMI series you would know exactly who these jerkhole guys are. Since they screwed up by abducting the wrong girl, they decided they may as well work with what they had. So they put Chloe in a smart house to help her lose weight since she wasn’t an ideal weight to buyers. The whole house was basically a fat camp on steroids. All the appliances monitored her weight, diet and exercise non stop. It taunted her with what she couldn’t eat and nagged at her constantly to exercise. It was pure torture. Both mentally and physically. Poor Chloe! But what I loved about Chloe is that even though she was a bigger girl, she owned her curves. Sure the house gave her a serious dent in her self confidence it didn’t destroy her. She was still sassy, brave and resourceful.
Tark, Tark, Tark. He is by far my all time favorite Kindred. Not because he was a big, sexy bad a**. But because he was a big, sexy bad a** with a stutter. Yes, he wasn’t the usual perfect hero matched up to the imperfect heroine. I love this!! He had his own issues and insecurities that he had to overcome. He didn’t think that he was good enough for the perfect “elite” Chloe because he was raised to believe that he was flawed and no woman would ever want to be his mate. He broke my heart. They both did. Chloe because she was doubting her beauty and appeal to Tark and Tark because of his insecurities. Both were judged because they didn’t conform to societies standards but there was never a more perfect couple together. Tark worshiped Chloe for her beauty both on the inside and out and Chloe who loved Tark for who he was while helping him overcome his stutter.
Great characters, awesome story, engaging, exciting and lots of panty melting scenes. Grab this book and devour it like I did. I can’t wait to see what’s next in the lineup!
Evangeline Anderson: A Kindred Tales Plus Novel (Brides of the Kindred)
This is definitely a welcomed Plus sized Tales Novel and one of the best of the series. It starts out with a lot of humor, with the female,Chloe, being abducted by alien sellers. Then she is forced by them to lose weight in a “smart” house, so she’d be an ideal female to sell on the alien market. Behind some very funny scenes there’s a serious side addressing the ills of a society that prizes “thin” women as ideal and insensitively disregarding what is truly ideal in a person. Chloe, a pretty plus sized, pink haired woman has been subjected to “fat shaming “ her whole life due to her weight “issues”.
This book has all the great elements of the Kindred books but it also pulled at my heartstrings approaching the challenges that make some of us different and how the world treats these people as well as how it affects their own self-esteem. Although there is not a horrible evil entity endangering the hero and heroine, the story line’s exciting crazy adventurous quest holds the readers minds and imaginations from the very first page to the last.
Tark , a Beast Kindred has suffered all his life with a severe stutter. Abused by his father for his impediment, he has withdrawn from society. In addition he feels his condition makes him undeserving of ever having a mate. Some characters really pull on my heart strings and Tark is one of them.
On his quest to find a cure for his stuttering, he finds himself rescuing Chloe from the aliens. Chloe, who happens to be a speech therapist, goes on this quest to help the big Kindred who has come to her aide.
Thru different worlds, dimensions, crazy adventures and sexy hot situations, misunderstandings between the two well developed characters, the author has gifted us with another wonderful escape into the Kindred world.
This book has it all!!! I loved Chloe and Tark, they were perfect for each other.
Chloe is kidnapped from Earth and kept in this house that is trying to make her become super model skinny. I laughed so hard listening to her talk to the house.
Tark ends up coming to the place she is being held because of a prophecy. He believes the jewel that will heal his stutter is there. When he gets there he only finds Chloe. However, he takes her from the fat shaming house.
They go to another place where the jewel may be and Chloe agrees to help him since he rescued her.
Their journey is incredible. I felt so bad for Tark, he really needed Chloe in his life. I just wanted to hug him.
This was another fantastic story in the Kindred series and of course we get to see some of our original ladies at the end. Don’t forget to read the sneak peaks for upcoming books. I can’t wait to see what Evangeline Anderson cooks up next!!!
Action, adventure and very entertaining
This story is about Chloe, a female that get abducted from earth by alien traffickers. Then is imprisoned in a smart house that’s trying to make her lose weight to be more like what the aliens think is supposed to be the ideal woman size.
Tark, a beast Kindred with a stuttering problem, pretends to be a buyer so he can search for a prophesized jewel that will cure his stuttering. In the end saving Chloe from being bought only to have her help him on his quest to find this jewel.
Things start to get very interesting and unlike anything before. This is an action packed and very entertaining self-contained story to read. Love this story.

Evangeline has done an amazing job with this one. Chloe has been kidnapped and put into a “fat-shaming house” to make her lose weight so she’ll be the “ideal” earth girl they’re looking for. Having always been a bigger girl, she’s gotten comfortable with her weight, but this house of bullying is causing her to doubt herself. Tark has also suffered throughout his life by being bullied, not only because of him being a beast Kindred on twin moons, but also because of his speech problem. These two are a match made perfectly for one another as she’s a speech therapist by trade and he, like the twin Kindred, loves the “elite” women. Unfortunately, miscommunication on several different factors causes them more harm than good and they fall apart.
This story is definitely one you don’t want to miss.

This was such a good book. The hero didn’t understand for a while just what the jewel was. He had it the whole time & almost lost it. Loved this story, so well written!
Always a great read with this author!!!!
Another great Kindred novel. Tark finds Chloe while searching for a jewel to cure him of his stuttering. Little does he know that his salvation is already close at hand. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
