An unexpected surprise brings the Mitchell family of Savannah a chance to experience the Christmas trip of their dreams. An unexpected disappointment threatens to turn it into the worst Christmas of their lives. John Finch and his friend Alfred live in the woods. Been doing it for decades. He likes wintering in Florida, but this year’s been particularly harsh. Between the cold, freezing rain and … and terrifying lightning storms, John’s starting to wonder how much more of this lifestyle he can take. A new friend enters the picture and changes everything. Kim Harper, the dog trainer introduced in Rescuing Finley, is contacted by a billionaire philanthropist seeking her help with a new dog training project that will help the homeless. Is he for real? And is her co-worker right? Does this rich, handsome man’s interest in Kim go much deeper than her dog-training skills?

I love this book I’m still reading it but I know I’ll love the rest of the book can’t wait to get back to it I do recommend this book especially animal lovers like me will enjoy it
Wholesome animal-focused/family/relationship book. Nice change from all the “sex-starved” novels being written!
I love Dan Walsh’s books. Easy to read, I love the dogs & the characters
I like that some of the story was told through Riley’s eyes, very entertaining. Also liked the way it introduced the homeless people. Makes you realize what they go through and how their lives can be changed in an instant.
As a dog lover it was an entertaining book and how animals have such wonderful feelings when people treat them love and respect. Animals can give so much love to a person who doesn’t have much hope.
This book was a great read. Always like a happy ending.
A heart warming story about a dog and the family who loves him. How can you not like that!
Such a great book, well-written and different than many plot lines. I can see that this concept of using inmates to train dogs would be useful across the country.
I really enjoyed the book. I actually learned some things about dogs. I am not a animal person but I liked the story just the same.
I Really enjoyed these books in the series. They were well written and loved how Mr. Walsh could get us to believe what the various dogs were thinking. Highly recommend them.
Sweet story of a dog who is lost and the boy to whom he belonged.
I live this author and his unique perspective, often that of a dog!
A cute family story with the dogs prospective.
This author , through this book, highlighted a community problem, homelessness, and how it can be remedied!
A very good read!
I found this a welcome read. I could fully emerse in the book, it made me happy, sad, and golf ball in the throat crying happy at the end. I would recomend this book as a light get away from real life read. I mean that in the best possible sense.
I reallllly like Dan Walsh books very much and his story lines also !!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this series: Rescuing Finley, Finding Riley, and Saving Parker. I’m impressed with the author’s writing, and found the subject of training and using rescue dogs to be of great interest…especially when they have been found to help returning military with PTSD.
Somewhat choppy writing: easy read. Sweet but predictable.
A good short story.
I love this series – touching dog stories with emotionally-based human plots!
