An unexpected surprise brings the Mitchell family of Savannah a chance to experience the Christmas trip of their dreams. An unexpected disappointment threatens to turn it into the worst Christmas of their lives. John Finch and his friend Alfred live in the woods. Been doing it for decades. He likes wintering in Florida, but this year’s been particularly harsh. Between the cold, freezing rain and … and terrifying lightning storms, John’s starting to wonder how much more of this lifestyle he can take. A new friend enters the picture and changes everything. Kim Harper, the dog trainer introduced in Rescuing Finley, is contacted by a billionaire philanthropist seeking her help with a new dog training project that will help the homeless. Is he for real? And is her co-worker right? Does this rich, handsome man’s interest in Kim go much deeper than her dog-training skills?

Loved it. Love dogs.
Finding Riley is a good story with interesting characters. I didn’t want to put it down.
If you are a pet lover, you will enjoy this story. Very relatable.
I loved this book and read two others
I enjoyed this book. I love animals and this hit my heart the way the different stages of the people and animals occurred and influenced the events in so many peoples lives.
Finding Riley is a delghtful story. It is actually the second of three. Each book is about a different dog but some of the characters overlap. Each book is a stand alone, but I loved reading them in order to get a fuller story on the characters. Anyone who loves dogs will enjoy this story. The plot and characters are well thought out. I was ready to take Riley home. He seemed so real and he really tugged ay my heart strings. I honestly could not put it down. I love the way all the parts were put together to make such a charming tale with a happy ending. I was enthralled. I hope Dan Walsh will write more of these Forever Home novels.
I am on my third book by Dan. Any animal lover will fall in love with his books.
love books about rescue animals
Love books that have dogs in them! I really liked this story and loved the idea that someone would build a place where people could heal.
Animal lovers will enjoy this easy read.
A good human interest story.
Would like to know more about the lives of the homeless who moved into the development and their interaction that improved their lives.
Great story! May be helpful to have a love for dogs, which I do. Wonderful story of a family and their canine family member. The dog takes off chasing a rabbit on the family’s way home from a Disney vacation. Will they find him again?
Loved this book!
Great story. I love stories about animals.
Wonderful book. I have started reading other books by this author. I also have been learning a lot about how and why dogs behave the way the do. This book touches on the plight of the homeless. It was good to read–even if it was fiction–about someone helping the homeless. After a while it could be very difficult to start believing a better life is possible. A desire for a better life, and learning to trust God is a good start. Dan Walsh is a good author, I have enjoyed reading other books by him. I highly recommend books by this author.
I love how this book weaves information about the homeless into the story, along with some chapters written from the dog’s perspective. It was an enjoyable and inspirational read.
Great book for the Christmas season and I learned so much about being homeless in the US.
Good read . Well written
I haven’t finished it, as I became bored rather quickly
The whole series of veterans adopting guide dogs or emotional support dogs is amazing. I know the book is fiction but I feel it is based on real people.
