This is a genre that I read a lot of…the Holocaust. This is a haunting love story set against the horrors of WWII and concentration camps. It is the story of one man searching for the love his life who is a prisoner and he is under cover as an SS officer trying to find Rebecca. Excellent read…makes an impact on your heart.
I am haunted by this book. I will never forget the characters. As a history buff, it was right up my alley. (Sorry for the cliché.) Finding Rebecca is a love story intermingled with tragedy and hope. Thank you, for such a lovely work of art!
Masterful story telling with well defined characters. This is a uniquely human perspective about the horrors of the holocaust. You will want to keep turning pages but sometimes you may want to put the book down because man’s inhumanity is hard to wrap your head around. Read this book and pass it along.
Finding Rebecca is the debut novel of Eoin Dempsey and follows Christopher, a German living in Jersey when he falls in love with Rebecca. When the Germans invade, Rebecca is shipped away with the other Jews living in Jersey. To find the love of his life, Christopher joins the SS and begins working at Auschwitz as he attempts to find her.

This is one of those book you will really like but its hard to say you love it because of the subject. I really did enjoy it, it brings the awful things that were done to those that one man made almost a whole country agree were beneath them all. It is only fiction but it’s based on fact (not the story line). It shows what one man did for the love …
Very horrifying and sad
It was just wonderful. A very different take on WWII

They were six years old when they meet on the island of Jersey in 1924. Christopher, recently arrived from Germany with his sister, and grieving father, and Rebecca, born and raised on the island, the daughter of an abusive father and alcoholic mother. Their lives would never be the same. When Rebecca runs away as a teenager to England to escape …
One of my favorite subjects about WWII and favorite subjects to rread when it comes to WWII fiction. The channel Islands.
I actually am at a loss for words, this novel affected me deeply. My father was part of the weapons ss and part of a concentration camp guard. He had no warm family or a Rebecca to help him cope and he killed himself when I was twelve. History class in school in Germany taught me all the horrific truth about concentration camps and I visited …
A book full of hope that good overcomes even in the worst of circumstances. I would recommend this book to anyone with historical interest in Nazi Germany. Helpful terminology provided of the ranks of officers, devastation of the Jewish nation, and the organization within, intertwined in a childhood friendship-romance and a promise.
This was a read I won’t soon forget and pray the the horrific events from history will never be repeated. The characters kept me turning the pages.
This is one of my all time favorite books I’ve read. I love it. You won’t be able to put it down.
Wonderful characters, gripping story and interesting setting. Writing from the POV of an SS officer gave the story a novel flavor!
