It was absolutely awesome to be back in Burke, TX with the many beloved characters from the Shattered Lives series.
Promise Kept –
I loved Lana and Derek and watching their young love blossom and mature. This one started off with a bit of a shocker, and I was totally ready to be along for the ride. They were each keeping a secret and I was so eager to see how they would reveal them to each other. This was such a sweet story, especially since I “knew” these characters as well as I did.
Embracing Change –
I really liked reading more about Lori and her past. Shuler’s characters are always so rich and vivid. This was a lovely story filled with love and healing. It was very sweet.
His Gift –
I was so excited to be back with Dani Lynn. She has been one of my favorite characters since the beginning of this series and Shuler’s books. I loved the way this collection of stories was moving through the holidays so I got to experience all the excitement and togetherness with this great group of people.
The events and way this one ended was perfect!
Open Hearts –
This story started with some intensity and I couldn’t wait to read and find out more. I loved the flow and the alternating calm, love, and intensity.
Finding Love –
I was so ready to get to know Katie better and read her story. I enjoyed this one and its action and softer parts. This was a great addition to this collection of stories.
Undercover –
I love me some Stella and this short was a great little glimpse at all her sass and spunk. I hope that she will be getting her own full-length story soon. She is larger than life and a ton of fun to read.
I really enjoyed this collection of short stories and the chance to revisit many of my favorite characters. I also enjoyed the few new faces I had the chance to get to know better too. The Burke, TX crew will always have a place in my heart and a home on my shelves. <3
I first fell in love with Burke and it’s residents when I read My Own Nightmare. With the book I get to revisit all the beloved characters to celebrate multiple holidays and special events. Great collection!
Promise Kept (Halloween)
What a great story. I love being able to catch up with the Shattered Lives gang. This one is all about Derek and Lana, and the surprises life has in store for them. I won’t say more than that, except that it’s one you don’t want to miss. I truly loved it and can’t wait to see what this author brings us next from Burke, Texas.
Embracing Change (Thanksgiving)
Another great story from the crew of Burke, Texas. I first fell in love with the Shattered Lives series, and all of Barb Shuler’s books, when I read My Own Nightmare. It was the first time I had read a psychological suspense/thriller. I wasn’t sure what to expect, so I just tried to have an open mind. I’m so glad I did because it led to a whole new world of stories for me. This story is part of the Shattered Lives series. It focuses on Gabe and Lori. I won’t spoil anything by explaining who they are, you have to read the series to find that out, but I will tell you that it’s a great story. It’s all about, love, togetherness, forgivness, healing and second chances. I truly love this story and look forward to reading more by this author.
His Gift (Christmas)
I Love, Love, Love the Shattered Lives series. I’m really hoping that we will eventually get to read a story about Trace and the ever lively Stella. Until then, though, this is a great story to tide me over. In this story we get to catch up with some of the beloved characters from the series, Drew and Dani Lynn. We also get to read a bit about Derek, Lana, Carter and the rest of the rowdy bunch. Drew and Dani Lynn are preparing to spend the Christmas holidays with their loved ones, and getting a few surprises ready for one another. I can’t say too much, because everything would be a spoiler to the story but, trust me when I say, this is one you don’t want to miss. Love this book and can’t wait to see what the author brings us next.
Open Hearts (New Year’s)
I always love my visits to Burke, Texas and this one was no different. In this story you get to revisit some of the Shattered Lives characters. This story gives you a chance to catch up with them and see where they are now. Plus, as an added bonus, you also get to know Drew and Jackson’s sister, Katie. I really enjoyed this pit stop in Burke and I look forward to reading more. Hopefully, the author will write more.
Finding Love (April – Before Easter)
Another amazing story for the Burke, Texas crew. In this one we learn more about Katie, Drew and Jacks’ sister. We met her in My Own Nightmare, but then she left town. Now we get to learn why and what’s happened to her since we last saw her. We also get to catch up with the rest of the Shattered Lives characters and see what’s new with all of them. As you know, there’s always some type of comical drama going on in their world and this time is no different. I really enjoyed the journey and can’t wait to see what the author does in the next story.
Undercover (A bonus short story about Trace and Stella)
What a seriously funny addition to this collection. I’ve always wanted to read something that was solely about Trace and Stella. This was a nice little tidbit into their lives. It’s got some snark, some sass, and a serious dose of Stella’s brand of crazy. I really enjoyed getting a chance to read some from Stella and Trace’s POVs. I hope the author writes more about them.
