If ever I could write a review WHILE reading the book, Finding Life would be it! I’m thrilled that Victor gets his story and I was really enjoying the meeting and getting to know you of Victor and Colby! It’s another amazing book in the Colorado Veterans Series. Then at 53% I was feeling Colby’s anxiety. At 56% the mommy in me wanted to take Colby in my arms and comfort her. Then at 61%, reading about the situation that Colby was keeping (among other) from Victor had me so angry I could have spit nails. Ohhhh, and then the family discussing an issue way to close to me. What is this story trying to do to me? A page later I’m literally, bust a gut laughing out loud! I. LOVED. THIS. STORY. I’m hoping there’s more. Maybe the next generation? Only Author Tiffani Lynn knows!
Finding Life by Tiffany Lynn is the fourth book in her Colorado Veterans Book and I loved this addition to the series. It’s so worthy of all 5 stars and then some.
Cody Averette loves working on cars and being a monster truck driver. She helps run her family own garage with her brothers and brother-in-law. But when her own truck breaks down she accepts a ride from lawyer and former Army Combat Medic Victor Martinez. They soon start a friendship with knowledge that Victor still mourns the loss of his wife. But when Cody”s father suddenly passes away and family emergencies happen she’ll step up to help out and keep their business afloat.
Victor Martinez is a partner in a law firm often working 60-70 hours a week doing Estate Law. He’s a former medic who went back to school after his time in the service warning his law degree. But work while long and brutal still doesn’t keep the single women in the firm from wanting dates with him. When he meets Cody he finds that they share a love of hiking but even his medic training needed when her sister breaks a bone. When a lead partner is accused by a client who doesn’t want her case handled by him an original partner wants to sweep it under the rug. Victor decides it’s time to move on with Cody’s full support.
You have to read the Colorado Veteran’s series as each book will have you wanting more as well as falling in love with each hero and heroine.
A genuine story of love and acceptance
The Colorado Veterans series by Tiffani Lynn is quite a different read to so many contemporary romances. All the stories have depth, genuine characters and a feeling of being real. I’ve read the previous 3 books in this series and so there was no question over whether I would read this book or not. Despite being book #4 this most certainly can be read as a stand alone book, neither character has featured in any significant way (if at all) in the previous books.
Victor and Colby meet outside a cemetery, when he comes to the rescue of a damsel in distress and gives her a lift to the hospital. He was visiting the grave of his dead wife, she was on the way to visit her seriously ill sister. They both have the usual baggage and insecurities, struggling to believe that the other could truly want them, or that they can be what the other needs.
I absolutely adored both Colby and Victor. Colby is a strong woman, working in a man’s world and coping with the struggles of life. However she also has some insecurities and this really made her a very likeable and believable character. Victor is just so swoon-worthy, a tough alpha male without the arrogance but with added intelligence. They made an amazing couple and filled the missing parts in the other ones life. Their chemistry was intense and whilst their emotions developed fairly quickly I really liked how their actual relationship took time to establish.
Life throws obstacles at them in the form of secrets, lies and hurtful truths but what makes this author’s work so special is how her characters respond to these hurdles. There are no cliched, hysterical overreactions, no dramatic break ups and make ups. That isn’t to say that their aren’t ups and downs, or fears for the future. There is still lots of emotion in the book but it feels less soap opera and more real life, whilst still being an engaging and wonderful read.
Finding Life is a wonderful contemporary romance that I’d recommend to family and friends. It does contain several very steamy and explicit love scenes, those these nicely complement this wonderful love story.
Fantastic!
A very sweet and heartwarming story, stuffed full of reality, integrity and family values. Don’t get me wrong, this story is anything but vanilla!!
Victor is a genuine, unassuming, proud, U.S. Army Veteran. He has no need to brag or show off. His Army training and self confidence are worn with complete ease as well as his actions speak for themselves. Chivalry is definitely not dead!
Colby is a great mechanic with a far-reaching reputation. She is also a gorgeous woman with many talents in addition to being a very popular monster truck driver with crowds of adoring fans.
This story is as fun as it is diverse. No one would think that an estate lawyer and a female mechanic/monster truck driver would have much in common let alone be attracted to each other. They meet in a cemetery of all places, both paying respect to lost loved ones. This author has a gift of creating little tidbits of charm and quirkiness to develop into full blown mutual attraction leading to a sweet, romantic relationship.
I love how this fast paced love story leads you on Victor and Colby’s slow journey to discovering who they are as individuals and who they want to be together. Each has to endure self reflection and face the person in the mirror to move forward in their life and come to terms with personal loss and grief. This story also teaches self confidence and having the strength of character to go after what you want in life. A very good lesson in life and in love. Excellent job! I loved it!
