Kyle finally gets his own story! We were introduced to Kyle in previous series and learned he was undercover with the ATF. He is now in hiding and waiting to testify against the MC he worked to bring down. He settles in a small town in Maine and his neighbor is a quirky, sexy art teacher who just will not take no for an answer. I think I actually love Jane too or at least her spirit 🙂 She is such a dork at times with her movie references but she is so sweet it is contagious. Kyle and Jane are perfect and this story takes them on a roller coaster of a ride that was well worth the ride.
This book was definitely a little edgier with Kyle having been an undercover ATF agent and the book giving a few details about what he had to participate in in order to gain acceptance within a horrible motorcycle club. I was a little nervous when I first started reading this when it went on to describe some of the things he participated in or had done because I can only imagine how mess up you have to be after doing these things but again he was an ATF agent and there for the greater good… Overall it was a good book!
* AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *
I totally love Kyle and Jane, he’s so grumpy and she is nerdy and just a ray of sunshine. I love how she sneaks in under his defences and makes him come somewhat out of his shell. But he has deep dark secrets, can they find their way through them?
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Lots of fun and easy dialogues that makes it very joyful to listen to
The characters is developed in to realistic personalities with their flaws and insecurities.
Love scenes is tasteful described but still really steamy
Narrators:
Clear pronunciation and read with feelings, it flowed easily and I enjoyed it very much
5 stars overall.
I have had this book on my TBR for over a year and just never got around to reading it and technologically I still haven’t read it but I did listen to the audio of the book. I am upset with myself for waiting so long to know this stand alone book. Kyle is someone that truly needs help finding himself and Jane is just the perfect person to help him realize that the things he has done are redeemable.
The narrators did an awesome job providing the voices for Kyle and Jane along with all the other characters in the book. I really was able to visualize the scenes and what was happening. There were times I was laughing along especially at times when Jane would give us one of her movie quotes. The story flowed and the characters were realistic. I enjoyed seeing both Kyle and Jane grow and the development of their relationship.
This was a very difficult book to have to turn off and was trying to find extra ways to listen to the book. Besides laughing along with Jane’s movie lines, there are things that are not easy topics and at the same time keep you in suspense. The story was not predictable at parts and I love that in books. It kept me guessing with what was going to happen next.
While this is a stand alone book, I saw somewhere that Kyle is a supporting character in another book by the author and I am very interested in going back to read this book. Plus, I need to read Kyle’s sister’s book to see if he makes an appearance in her story. I am looking forward to more from this author and I really hope that we get more from the supporting characters in this book.
Ooooooooo Emmmmmm Geeeeeeeee…this book is gut wrenching, emotional, frightening yet with deliciously, wicked chemistry. Kyle is trying to find normalcy after years of undercover work that haunts him and Jane wants to get to know him. When it all comes to a head will the feelings of love still be there or does it all go up in smoke??The audio version was absolutely amazing with the great narrators, Kristen Leigh and Lance Greenfield doing a superb job of their characters portrayal.
Kyle is an undercover agent in hiding until he testifies against the criminals. In a little town as a lighthouse keeper, he meets Jane. She’s quirky and lovable. Kyle tried to discourage her friendship but she keeps on trying. Jane and Kyle were complete opposites when we first meet them. The story was very enjoyable. As bad as some people can be, there are good people too.
Review copy was received for a honest opinion.
I listened to an audio version of this book. The male narrator has a nice deep voice that fits Kyle’s character well. The female narrator did an okay job. Overall, a good audio.
This was very sweet and I loved the connection between Kyle and Jane. There’s some hot scenes between them too. Jane is your quirky girl next door type and Kyle is your gruff slightly damaged guy. He was deep undercover in a motorcycle club and did some depraved things, so he has a bit of PTSD. He’s now off the grid because he’s set to testify against some super bad guys that would kill him if they find him. He’s having a tough time dealing with the things he did while undercover and doesn’t think he deserves any woman with any worth, so he pushes Jane away. He’s really giving her mixed signals though, so Jane isn’t having it. I loved that she asks him out first, and she sees the real him. Kyle is adorable. The only thing I didn’t like was the whole skank in a dirty alley thing because eww, but overall, he’s a sweetie. Also, loved how protective he is of Jane. The small town aspect was great too! I could’ve done without the cliche easy best friend, but I liked how she supported Jane. I would’ve loved for there to be more suspense, so that’s mainly why I went 4 stars. Still a very entertaining story!
I can’t even put into words what this story was. Sawyer has blown me away. This was something so different than anything I have ever read from her prior. I could not put this down. I fought sleep to read this.
Kyle is someone with such a dark past. What he did haunts him and he is hoping to hide out without interruption. Jane is having none of that. She wants to know him and not just in that neighborly way small towns are famous for.
Jane is the “sweet” art teacher. She is a hometown girl, I mean she lives about 3 blocks from her parents. She is intrigued with her new neighbor in the lighthouse across the street for more than his amazing abs. She may have attempted to murder him with her muffins, but not everyone is blessed with the baking gene. She knows getting involved with Kyle will be bad for her heart, but she cannot deny her feelings as they spend more time together.
Sawyer is so creative with making the settings she does. I could picture the lighthouse, harbor, and that front step. I was so enraptured with Kyle and Jane. I was rooting from the beginning for his past to not catch up to him.
I loved Miranda as well. She was who I would strive to be if I was written into a story. She is sassy, spunky, and the best friend.
